I DID NOT REGRET WATCHING THIS!
I'd like to begin by saying that I highly recommend this drama... When the drama was on air, I had watched a few snippets and I had high expectations from it... I'm not saying that I didn't like it... I very much liked it.. It's a very relatable and heart touching drama...The cast was too good... They have done a spectacular job at portraying every single emotion and character.. The story was pretty good with usual dramatic ups and downs but the drama managed to successfully pull it off.. I dont usually like watching flashbacks or slow intros but I really loved the childhood parts in this.. We need more people like Li Haichao in this world..
The drama had really good potential and I think that it could have been made a little better by eliminating certain parts.. Especially the love triangle between Li Jianjian, Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu... Yes, He Ziqiu was not really in love with her and gave up pretty soon but I still felt that it was completely unnecessary.. I'm a fan of romance, but I think that this drama could have really survived without the romance between the three of them.. And I didn't really feel the chemistry between Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao... The dynamic that the trio had as siblings during their childhood (I know, because of seperation for long duration and all but I'm not talking about that) was kind of lost in the 2nd half of the drama.. And I didn't really understand the relationship aspect between Li Jianjian and Ling Xiao? Like when? How? One minute Li Jian Jian was like, "no, you're my brother" and the next she's like, "you're my boyfriend"? This is the only complaint that I have with this drama... The romance was all over the place.. Everybody's romance was all over the place.. Except Li Haichao and He Mei's relationship... Now, that was adorable... I loved it!
I kind of felt that the ending was a little rushed but I watched the 40 episode version, so idk if there's any difference...
Overall, I'd highly recommend watching it and I had a pleasant time with this drama... The osts made me immediately go on youtube and download them! Do give this a try, you won't regret it.

I started this drama mainly because of Song Wei Long and before watching the first episode, I’ve already seen some clips on social media and it somehow didn't catch my attention that much. Nevertheless, since I had nothing to watch I decided to try it out, and it's now one of the best decisions I’ve made when it comes to cdramas.What I loved:
1. Their childhood scenes - to be honest, I'm not a big fan of childhood scenes although in most dramas they’re usually just very short BUT IN THIS DRAMA I WAS IN LOVE WITH THE CUTE CHILD ACTORS AND ACTRESSES. The kids did such a great job in portraying their characters as if they really were the younger versions of the main leads. It didn't seem awkward to me at all and it somehow made me sad as I watched their last scenes as kids because I knew that I would miss them.
2. The main leads- As expected from these versatile actors and actresses, they surely never disappoint. They showed great chemistry and definitely perfect for their roles.
- For Song Wei Long in which I mentioned was the reason why I started this drama, it was very nice to see him portray a somehow different kind of character from his usual ones and HE STILL SLAYED IT. He expressed different kinds of emotions in every episode and it made me feel like I am his friend in real life because I wanted to comfort him so much.
- While for Steven Zhang, it was my first drama with him as the lead and I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM. The way he portrayed his character was just perfect as if the character was made for him. Watching this drama also made me a fan of him which is why I searched his dramas right away after I finished this drama and he truly is a wonderful actor.
- Lastly, Seven Tan also did not disappoint. It amazes me how suitable she is for Li Jianjian’s character ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING HER AGE TOO. Despite being in her 30s she portrayed being a high school student in the most outstanding way. I can't imagine other actresses doing her character not because they are not as good as her but because SHE PORTRAYED IT TOO WELL. Also became a fan of her afterward hehe.
3. Storyline - The writer and the whole team are just all geniuses. Family problems, romance, friendships, some might think that this will be just like the other dramas BUT NO, they really added some spice here and TOO MUCH SPICE WHICH IS WHY EVERYONE LOVES IT. The conflicts they gave are very realistic and at the same time, it is very new to the viewers. Each character teaches you a lesson and would inspire you. Although this drama broke my heart and made me cry so much, IT WAS ALL WORTH IT. It was nice to see each character grow and slowly overcome their problems with the help of their families and friends. Truly one of the best storylines.
4. Length - Some may know that cdramas are usually very long but this drama never made me complain because each episode is worthwhile. I am very satisfied with the number of episodes and the pacing so you all don't have to worry about it.
5. Rewatch value - I actually watched this drama last year back when it was still ongoing AND UP UNTIL NOW IM STILL WAITING FOR THE TIME THAT THE SCENES ARENT THAT FRESH IN MY MIND SO I CAN REWATCH IT AGAIN IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE. But sadly, this drama is too good and my brain refuses to forget it so all I can do is to convince you all to watch.
What I didnt like:

Anyway, may all these reviews from other people and me be enough to convince you to watch because you’re missing out on such impressive drama (or I suggest watching the first few eps and see if you’ll like it).

This always happens....
I read a synopsis of a drama and think I don't think I'll really like it but everyone says it's so good. So I put on my plan to watch shelf until I thought I might want to watch it. Well I did and it's become on of my favorite. I have done this before where I think it's not going to be good and then BOOM, I love it.This is a really good ensemble cast that you want to love everyone and their slightly weird story lines. It's got just the right amount of angst and tears. It flows from funny to sad to funny. It makes you feel very warm. I like that the characters were more than 2D and had normal thoughts and feelings.
I super encourage watching this if you love to see the whole cast love and spend time with each other, strong FL, strong (hot) ML, great 2ML and 2FLs, if you like quirky families, and interconnected stories.

Worth of your time!
Story - it started with kids and watching them growing up so basically from childhood to high school to university (bits) till adult. It's relatable to any of us - friendship, love, career, and most importantly family values.Acting - Each of them fit to their roles. Ah especially those aunties like to gossip. Those expression (me rolled eyes)
Music - the songs are soothing to hear and some quite meaningful to listen it
Rewatch Value : Hmm will watch funny parts like the female lead with her friends and sweet & funny moments of siblings. Total skip with be the momsss.
Overall : Good plot, acting and so. Only thing is what's wrong with those female in this drama? Aside female lead & her friends. I just dont like how it portrays all moms in this drama are "bad" - some explained later however more than half of the drama - we misunderstand and it feel like just what's wrong with the moms here. And the most heavy scenes related to certain mom - like doesn't make much of sense that so hateful from beginning till almost end then she was like "we are best friend now" .....haih. Oh and the female doctor. Is it normal culture or something? The way female doctor act? Asking here and there around about the male lead habit and whatsoever and saying things like whether suit to bring him to see her parents but actually she never even interact much with the male lead at all. wth @@

Worth the high rating
My oversimplified reviewSTORY: Unique plot, not too complicated even though it follows the lives of three families and their respective issues. The family issues between the kids and their outsider parents/families are very painful to watch but realistic, they can be triggering for some so take a break/skip if you need it.
EXECUTION: All actors fit their roles perfectly, props to Seven Tan, Song Wei Long, Steven Zhang, Tu Song Yan, Zhang Xi Lin and Yang Tong Shu (the child actors also did great in this drama). Chemistry between the actors was phenomenal and made the acting come to life. I cried (get tissues ready) and laughed in every episode. Music in the show, although mostly with a sad tone, all fit perfectly with what was on screen (無畏 and 雨 are my favorite). Switching between past and present was clear and there was never any confusion in what was happening in the show.
OVERALL: I rarely rewatch shows but this one is different, I often find myself watching parts of certain episodes on youtube when the clips show up on my recommendations page. Everything was done right in my opinion. I have recommended this show to so many people and most share my enthusiasm about the show. If i'm being honest, I have found it hard to find another show that is this good since watching and all other shows seem bland in comparison.

WATCH THIS DRAMA!!!! This may be the 1st drama were I start a review with this sentence. I really want to say a lot about this drama but I don't know where to start what to say ( I'm so excited ?)This drama is really a good one out there. Usually when we watch drama / movie or something we say this is not a cup of tea for everyone and all but this drama is an exception. I feel that everyone can watch this drama, it's everybody's cup of tea.
There are sweet moments, where you feel so warm, so happy for the people in it . Then there not so sweet moments but just things that happen in most people's life commonly. There are frustrating moments not the kind where you feel you have to bang their heads so they stop doing stupid stuff and be reasonable, here u feel frustrated because you understand what they are going through & evn though its frustrating there is no other way out. Then there's sad moments, u know there will be an extreme pain / pang of tug at ur heart when you feel real sadness, while watching this drama I felt it. I swear this is one of those rare dramas that made me feel that pain. I really cried with tears in my eyes for some moments in this drama which never happend to me before while watching a drama
The FL dad is a rare gem that u can't see in any other drama. His moments with ML dad made me believe thy r in a relationship (but no it's jst a wishful thinking) . There are both loveable & not so loveable angle for all characters but u won't feel hatred to any (except ML mom, Sry I can't forgive tat lady) because even though u feel irritated u understand thm. There r other mom's in this drama that r not loveable but still I didn't hate thm extremely because I felt there r people like that out there & it's not like they don't like their children it's jst they are unknown to many things & they can be redeemed.
But not the ML's mom. I won't lie I'm not so font of 40th episode. Just to show that everybody is happy they redeemed her just like triggering a switch. There was no need for that. If I'm in ML position I don't think I need her last minute change of heart for my ease of heart. That's not how it work & this is my only complaint about this drama. I really want to give this a 9 ? just because of that but then I don't think just because of a single episode giving it a9 ? didn't feel fair to this drama.
Even when I read other reviews i was really skeptical about 40 episode drama because , I felt that somewhere along the story it will disappoint me (that's how it usually happen in long episode numbered drama, sometimes evn less episodes can't save the drama) but here I felt they probably needed 1/2 more episodes to tie everything more perfectly.
The 1st two episodes of this drama is Bestest. Like I don't think I was this in love with any other drama/ episodes of a drama. Those two episodes are so so beautiful that I really want to tattoo them. (yes over enthusiastic).
I really want to say that things you mostly fear while u watch a drama are absent here. Yes there is a time leap and all. But no it's not that unnecessary breakup and time leap sh*t. AND THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE?. when I started this drama that was one thing that I was most scared of, unnecessary love triangle & losing beautiful relationship they had because of that stupidity. Everybody is clear about how they feel & whom they feel for. Even when both leads proposed to her u can clearly see what love they have for her.
I was really skeptical about the love angle but I loved how they showed it here. There was no unnecessary misunderstandings, heartbreak or anything and most importantly there was really no big change or anything extra when they started the relationship. I felt it's like indirectly saying they were in love from the start & now they just put the tag when they were mature enough. And you can feel it's a happly ever after even if they didn't say it. ?Also I want to say their hugs are soo warm...
Like I said I want say soo much about this drama but don't know what / how to say. I know all these while I was just blabbering stuff's incoherently? & sorry for that it's purely because of excitement and content I felt because of watching something good. This will be the longest review that I have ever wrote & still feel like I have so many things to say. ?
Watch this guy's I was never this confident for any other dramas. Watch it! Watch it! Watch it! You won't regret it. ?

this drama just....amazing T.T my eyes were swollen whenever i watched this drama, it gave me warm yet sour feelings, i always vry my eyes out. everydamn characters in this drama is...humane(?) they give essential meaning to the story, there is no single filler characters. Our five member family is so damn warmhearted, i think they are the real definition of family, they caring to each other, they're worry each other, they love each other, and they need each other.the romance is not over the top, and i really happy to found out that the love triangle in this drama is not that serious(?) i doubt that xiao que loving jianjian romantically, it's more about sibling love between both of them, there's no sexual tension what so ever

Drama about family
So many times i though to give this drama a try or not. And thanks GOD i finally decided to watch this drama. This drama is one of the most complicated family problem which you can relate yourself to one of the family in here. If you still hesitate to watch this, don't!!! Just jump right in & enjoy the ride. I guaranteed you never gonna regret it :)This drama about family, love, friendship & how to face your darkest fear. ^_^
This drama about 2 young boy rescued by a little girl & her dad, rescued from their darkest time in their life, the little girl became beaming light for 2 boys & together with her dad they make a family for 2 boys.
What i love about this drama:
* Family is everything you need, to support you or just to be there for you. Family is not only about blood related, but also about the connection we have with the one we called family.
* In family, especially parent, you can't always hide the truth in the name protect them or just better for them if they don't know the truth. I'm talking about He Zi Qiu (ZQ) & his mom. When everything come to light the relationship between them became better.
* They not delay the ending of this drama even though in my opinion there're several problem not solved yet. The most important is ZQ relationship with his dad.
* They never really forced for the second couple to be existed, just like several drama. The funny thing the second couple turn out to be Li Jian Jian (JJ) dad & ZQ mom. ^_^
* They showed us the care is not only belong to mom. Here the dad, with their own awkwardness, really care about their child.
* They not too complicated the love triangle. It's just as much as needed.
* They showed us 3 stages of the main character, childhood, teenager & adult. They not just skip it, especially when QZ & Ling Xiao (LX) have to go abroad, but still give us the process from teenager to adulthood.
* My most loved quote from this drama: everyone will be matured by a blink of an eye, but everyone's time is not the same.
* Every cast is really good & really fit with their role. Love every single cast. Want to know, just read ChineseDramaFan review, (s)he write beautifully about every character in this drama :)
* Last but not least really really love the song in this drama. One of the best soundtrack.
What is lack in my opinion:
* JJ never really explained why she choose LX not QZ. Is it really like QZ say, just because JJ just love LX from the first time they meet, or is it because like LX say he kinda forced his way or what...? In my opinion this is just the screen writer choose the one needed JJ the most between QZ & LX, but never really explained to us the process of it. It's just in one episode LX forced kiss JJ & the next episode they already together. it's like they actually have something in the middle to explained it but doesn't include in the final cut.
Overall: Really hope for another season, because i think this story not done yet :p.

I didn't skip any episodes!! Shocking!
This drama had me glued to the very end. The story line depicts real life scenarios - pain, joy, love, forgiveness, selfishness, sacrifice and friendship. I was so engrossed in their story and didn't want it to come to an end. Abrupt end, if you would ask me. I wanted more. I know they had a happy ending, but I wanted to see it. Oh well....The kids are stars! I laughed when they were happy and cried when they were sad.
I loved the relationship between Li Hai Chao and Ling He Ping. Their struggles were well documented.
Overall, this drama is the best I've watched in a long, long time.
... Oh and He Zi Qiu is one very handsome man!

Truly a masterpiece
I originally wanted to watch this within a week, but I couldn't, I finished this drama in only 3 days. It's totally worth it, and it is the best, if not, one of the best Chinese drama I have ever watched. The acting were spectacular, the casting is great, the chemistry between family members are truly inspiring. This drama is not only great to watch, but also very educational on how people should treat each other, and be kind to each other. I usually don't want to recommend any foreign language drama to my family because they prefer movies they can understand, and also the genre isn't exactly my family's cup of tea, but this drama I can 100% recommend my family to watch. If you cry easily, this drama might be hard for you because you might cry and laugh in every episode, don't worry, it's not a sad drama, more like a touching story. I just seriously love the overall feels this drama gives. One thing I like about C-dramas is how realistic they are as compared to most k-dramas. Watching a C-drama makes me feel like I'm getting a glimpse of someone else's life. From their childhood to their adulthood. And this drama made gave me exactly this.
I love watching the three of our leads grow up together and mature. I like how realistic it was in the sense that it's true that sometimes in life we do experience fall backs, we lose contact with people whom we thought we were closest to and unless you do something about it, you will continue losing them gradually and unintentionally.
This drama might have some plotholes (like at the end, what the heck happened to Dongdong, he suddenly went MIA) but I'm willing to over look that because this drama just gave me so much warmth and love. Watching this drama made me wish I had brothers and friends like them. Most importantly, watching this drama made me wish I had Ling Xiao as my boyfriend!!! hahahaha he's just too perfect for me lol.
I'm not sure if it's just the romanticist in me but one thing I felt missing was a bit of a love triangle or something dramatic that might have happened to the FL. But honestly, whatever. I loved the drama as it is already. Hoping to watch something like this soon <3

Trust me you need to try it.It is very good from story to music.Specially love the female lead's acting here..She surely steals the show.jianjian dad is also remarkable.My fav part were the first 10 eps when they were young and in school..Comedy in this show is underrated.This I think deserves more recognition .I started out with expecting not much but finished all 40 eps in 3 days and now need a season too.It haa strong Reply kdrama vibes.I bave no words for acting as it was so perfect from brothers to dads..They all have done great acting.The best thing I learned from this series is how a family is built with love and patience and not just by blood.Don't think of anything and just try it onceVond je deze recentie nuttig?
