Establishing love is like the likelihood of a series satisfying the whole community. Impossible.

The first episode gives the wrong impression and doesn´t represent the quality of the entire show. It put a lot of people off and I understand that too, as that's where the production/plot was implemented most problematically in terms of keeping viewers' attention and where the beautiful aesthetic of the series hasn't yet shown its true colours, portraying the summerly love of three young couples, as various as the LGBTQI+ community themselves.

Viewer description is advised if you are sensitive to gray area issues. One of the couples is critically disputed. But these differences of opinion are nothing new for us either, so from that point of view, just give it a try.

PRODUCTION
Positive:
First, the editing is done mostly very precisely and nicely, carrying some vibes of western youth series productions. The warm colours of the summer are the basic aesthetic that sets the series. They consist of a lot of yellow and orange tones which generate a smooth transition. Everything looks pleasingly fresh and warm, and the upbeat music accentuates the summer vibes. As a viewer, you yourself start to feel very alive and can easily understand the atmosphere of the series. The warm, lively mood is only broken by the cool nights and the inner conflicts of the characters.

Negative:
There was just this scene skipping issue from episode 8 to 9, which resulted in a few more mistakes concerning Torn.
Unsteady pacing and the viewer's confusion about the time spans (mostly in episode 9)

PLOT
It's about the life of Sport Science students facing their true feelings. Friends who have known each other since childhood, the pair seems rather one-sided and the pair that, according to other viewers, should never blossom.

The inner conflicts are overall nothing too overdramatic. However, the approach to reality and the taste of uncertainty runs through the whole story. While love is fresh and vibrant, it brings challenges that the aforementioned controversial couple, in particular, struggles to cope with. Vee and Dome. There is no right answer to love, but there is a lot of criticism.

Nevertheless, the series has a good arc of suspense and the main characters themselves are well presented in their own diverse complexity. I would have just hoped that Tupfah and Torn had more tension in their relationship, feel like they were lacking a bit of chemistry.

ACTORS
All actors had a solid performance, and I really adored the unique harmony of the two pairings.
I had a few little issues with Tae and Suar´s acting, but it could result in the two characters Tupfah and Torn being very calm and shy. However, the fact that it was Porsche´s first role (Vee) and that Kris – who btw turned 18 in February 2022 - is also a new actor, amazed me. He's talented and you could relate and sympathize with his role, which by the way wasn't an easy task. Visually I thought all the pairings were well casted...

OVERALL
Well-made show with satisfying shots, solid acting and overall breathtaking editing. The latter could have been better because the entire series had such a beautiful aesthetic, but skipping an important part of the plot is dragging down some points.

Good story about Sport Science students getting a taste of love and attraction. Relatively realistic. Personally, I would have aired it in early summer to undermine the warm summer vibes. Nonetheless. A show I would recommend to anyone, no matter their taste in LGBTQ+ films/series.

Went from a 10 to a 8 ( Time skips ruined it )

everything about this show is so good.. it's my favorite show of 2022 and all the 3 couples are sooo good but Dome and Vee have stolen my heart.. I love them so much ... the connection they share without barely ever speaking is so powerful.. they cinematography of the show reminds me in part to I Told Sunset About You. I really hope more people catch on to this and see the gem of a show this is.. cause it's so stunning and timeless. I don't endorse cheating plots but something about Dome and Vee I can't stop speaking about them enough. I look forward to seeing their journey for the rest of the season.

Update : the time skips ruined the show.... dome and vee got significantly less screen time in the second half of the series and it went downhill from there.

Give it a try, don't be drawn on the first episodes impressions.

I like this drama, the general idea, the setting are interesting despite some shortcomings in the script, direction, editing and acting. I wouldn't have believed it but the second part is much better and allowed me to appreciate it.

We follow the story of these 3 couples with different trajectories but with a common passion for sports.

If the couple Torn and Fah didn't impress me during the first episodes, I liked the evolution of their story from episode 6 onwards. Without realizing it, each wants to be the best in their sport, basketball. Here, there are no usual misunderstandings, no love triangles, no misplaced jealousy, just a guy who can't find his place in the shadow of his professional basketball boyfriend and the so-called boyfriend who doesn't understand his needs. Their relationship shows that love isn't always enough to make a relationship work, but also love on the other hand is what pushes one to understand the other, to forgive and to improve.

As for Aii and Saen, they are ultimately the most classic couple in this story, despite a beginning that would have made us think the worst. They support each other, they trust each other, they love each other and that's enough.

I conclude with the duo that has the most impact on me, by the simplicity and at the same time the complexity of their relationship, Dome and Wee. How do you react when you meet the right person at the wrong time? Is waiting enough or do you let your feelings fade over time and remain only a fleeting moment in your life?

Probably Not For Everyone

One thing that remains a recurring theme with a lot of BL Fans, I've noticed, is their aversion to various series where everything doesn't go according to their personal mandates in the world of fiction. As soon as reality pokes its unwelcome head in the door, they are quite ready to retreat. Fair enough. I mean we get enough real life on the daily and who needs more of that in whatever fictional world you decide to visit? Well, I do. One of the great things about proper storytelling, as far as I am concerned, is getting to take a good look at someone else's life and realizing that I'm not in this alone. All the mess that I've lived through and all the mess yet to come - someone's already been there, already done that. And survived. Now they can tell these stories of reassurance, in which I will find some measure of comfort.

So here we have a trio of parallel stories with three different levels of difficulty - Fah and Torn's "Love Before Memory" story. Having met as children, these two probably couldn't even remember when they first fell for each other. Seems like they've always been in love, even before they knew that "love" was a thing. Then there's Ai and Saen's "Long Distance Love" story - **SPOILER** - They meet, fall for each other and then, as we both expect and fear, Ai gets a scholarship to study abroad. I know I've been there - didn't work out...at all - but watching them walk that rocky road of long distance love...well, at least I got to watch from a safe distance this time. Then there's the most complicated in the bunch: - the "Impossible Love" story. Dome falls for Vee - his girlfriend's brother. Hmmm. That's a tough one.

So, how do they all fare? Well, I guess you'll just have to watch for yourself. What I will say, though, is that life just keeps on poking at the protagonists. Grounded by good performances from the young cast, good writing and some exceptional direction, "You're My Sky" constantly messes with your head. Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you cry. Sometimes you cheer them on, and at other times you stare at them in disbelief. Kinda-sorta like in real life. And, like I wrote earlier, whenever reality pops up in BL, you just know it's going to be picked apart on Social Media. Oh well...

Huge praise for the technical side of the production. The camerawork is awesome, but it's the lighting design that is spectacular. I think it's the boldest lighting I've ever seen in my life, and I am here for it!

To close off, lemme just say one thing - if you like stuff like "Gen Y" or "Don't Say No" or "Cutie Pie", you might want to give this one a miss. If, however, you like stuff like "I Told Sunset About You", "Utsukushii Kare" or even "'Cause You're My Boy" - and you don't mind a dollop of sport - then maybe you should give this one a try. I really liked it. That is all.

a hidden gem

This one was an unexpected gem.
I never heard about it before, it suddenly appeared on my Viki ‚new release‘ list and then I got curious & how happy I‘m that I really give it a try because it became one of my favorite dramas this year so far.

Sure some Episodes lagged and I also did not like all of the actors acting (I‘m looking at the actor playing Fah) but they give their best, for many this was their first acting job they all were surprisingly good, especially the actor of Vee impressed me, hopefully we‘ll see him in many more projects in the future!

They show had three couples and at the beginning they all had quite good divided air time but later on the third couple was a bit moved to side, that was a bit sad. Also I liked the friendships we had, especially the basketball team.

Fah & Torn - the main couple, they were cute at the beginning, nothing special and as mentioned before I wasn‘t big fan of the actor playing Fah but I really liked Torn. Some things happened in the later Episodes which made me dislike Fah for a bit and I really hoped for them to break up. But in the end I‘m okay with how they ending this couple. But I do think their story was a bit too weak to be the main leads.

Aii & Saen - CUTE. That is the perfect word for these two. Loved them from the beginning, until the end. I could sympathize with their worries and thoughts.

Dome & Vee - the chemistry was so powerful in the first few Episodes, unfortunately there scenes decreased in the later Episodes and also because of the (necessary) time skips we missed some important scenes for them (the breakup between Pan & Dome and Vee dealing with his panic attack) Vee was my favorite character in the whole show and my heart felt heavy for him most of the drama. Wrong time, wrong place, right person - this described Dome & Vee the best. I‘m a bit disappointed with how the show ending the story of these two. And I do hope for a Spin-Off.

Also to mention I never disliked Pan, she also went through a lot & always was their to support her brother. She isn‘t at fault in any way, if we need someone to be at fault it was Dome & Vee themself.

Overall a really good drama which unfortunately is totally underrated. I wished more people would watch it. And if after the 1st Episode (which is the weakest of the whole drama) think it‘s nothing for you, stay, it‘s worth it, really ❤️

Fell apart at the end

Overall: a slow burn sports themed BL with 3 m/m couples. Watched on Viki. (minor spoilers)

Content Warnings: colorism*, dub con (Saen/Aii - Aii says to stop and Saen continues)

What I Liked
- Torn was smart and solved problems (until he didn't, more on that later)
- humorous parts
- basketball scenes (I'm generally bored to tears by sports scenes but these were done well and some were super funny)
- production value including the color grading
- cinematography
- the consent with Saen/Aii (but not the morning after scene)

Room For Improvement
- it started cringey and ended cringey
- it felt like we missed a whole episode after the episode 8 basketball game. They should have shown things instead of just saying them in episode 9 (i.e. added an episode), then ended at the beach in episode 9 (which would have been episode 10).
- things really fell apart towards the end with time jumps, flash forwards/backs, bizarre character decisions, cliched plot lines
- *the main evil character has the darkest skin of everyone, wish he either had the same skin tone as everyone else or even better we had a protagonist with darker skin color (apparently he had a redemption arc but it was never explained or shown, Torn just randomly trusted him)
- Torn/Fah - I adored Torn's character until he had a supervillain origin story in episode 11, it made no sense to me. Torn was such a great problem solver and then he wasn't. Fah was a bit too stoic but they do explain that's how he is and he was burned/reluctant to trust again so I get it.
- Saen bordered on harassment instead of flirting. I wish Aii would have shown more interest to Saen especially earlier on, Aii could have still been nervous. Didn't like Aii's lack of communication with important decisions.
- Dome/Vee - this couple isn't controversial to me, life can be messy. I'm just sad the way that went/ended - felt very incomplete to me.

Terribly edited but cute and beautifully filmed

A whole lot of love and a bit of sky... ok a bunch of sports and an equal amount of romance and just enough drama to keep it from just being a fluff piece but not enough drama to make it very exiting... This drama is sweet, oddly edited, beautifully filmed, lovely lighting, it includes way, way, way to many montages of the past and the editing is so off that I actually had to check if I had skipped an episode by mistake. I had not and I am pretty sure that if they switched out the montages and added more scenes that explain the plot it would have made this drama a lot better.

There are few highly annoying elements in the first and last episode but other than that the characters are human, mostly lovable, sweet, ok one of the leads is borderline stalker and does need to learn about boundaries but he is just such a sweetheart and does seem to learn a lesson or two as the story continues... The same guy has the sweetest granny ever who stood for the lowest humour in the entire show.

I love how they manage to include a person with a transgender identity that is actually portrayed as just another human being along side the other very human beings in the drama + they do manage to portray love is love etc. in a pretty natural way only slightly mentioning coming out and obstacles etc... Without making it a big part of the plot thus making this drama about first of all humans who also happen to be part of the LGBTQ+ community and not another coming out story.

All things that made me add a star to two to this otherwise kind of flat plot...

This drama feels ver wholesome, if you ignore the insinuations about people sleeping tighter there and there and the guy who fell for his girlfriends brother... But other than that they all seem so pure...

So not a must watch but a pretty decent watch, just mind the first episode it does not represent the rest of the drama.

NOT just like any other University based BL

I loved it. It wasn't like any other University life based BLs we usually see. 3 couples. 3 different love stories. All of them were unique. After a long time I cried today while watching a drama. The acting of these actors were so so good and even the story of the lead couple where they started to grow togather to achieve a goal but at a certain point, due to series of events they had to stand against each other. Thorn was so desperate yet so pitiful. I couldn't help but cry. But the way Fah came back to support him was everything. Same way, the chemistry between the second couple Aai and Sean was incredibly sweet. And for the 3rd couple they has a twisted love triangle but eventually it did work out.
IT WAS ENGAGING. I DIDN'T GET BORED. IT WAS FUN, SWEET, INTENSE AND ROMANTIC. AND ...I've watched a bunch of University dramas and their fun activities, and I usually skip it bcz it's not that engaging. But here, the fun activities of faculty of sport science was so damn fun!!! I wished I had such fun in my university life too.
Anyways, do watch!

My Little Pleasant Surprise

I waited to binge-watch You're My Sky because I knew it would be one of those series that would just be better with one sitting, and I wasn't wrong. I went in with little expectations since I wanted to be fully surprised by all aspects, including all of the couples and their circumstances, so I went in without reading the synopsis or understanding the concept of this BL, and my only knowledge was that basketball was involved. And I fucking loved it. I loved this series why more than I thought I was going to, especially with me going into this with little to no idea what it was. But each couple brought about strong on-screen dynamics with perfect combability that their relationship were believable. To add on, the cinematography is by far my favorite of 2022.

Let's Dive In.

The easiest way to describe YMS is by saying it's a uni-story, but one, in particular, that didn't feel the same as the others. We have three completely different couples that go through their own conflicts and by the end, it's a somewhat happy ending for all. What makes this feel so unique in and of itself is simply the cinematography. It reminded me a lot of ITSAY and IPYTM, not in the same aspect of the story, but cinematically wise, it was astounding. The colors used, the way lighting played an important role, and the settings have such a homey feel to them -- it all equaled up to an amazing watch that made the series 10 times more exciting.

Again, I loved the cinematography. Had this series been filmed in the regular Thai-BL style, I don't think I would've liked it nearly as much as I do. There was just a way the story was told that was an absolute joy to watch. I liked the dim lighting that we see throughout the series, it just brings out a central feel that made it feel so authentic. At some point in the series, we see the framing chance so the intensity of a basketball game can be lifted, and I freaking adored it. The settings were so nice, especially the outside basketball court by the river, cause at night, it had a solemn and romantic feel that made Tuphah and Thorn's scenes appear more sensual. Even their first kiss illuminated by the street light and the bit coming from Thorn's house was so sensual and relaxing. I'm not even a big fan of basketball or sport BLs in general, but these scenes were shot to actual perfection. They imitated the feel of the game, and the intensity (even without an audience) in such a way that you find yourself wanting more. It also was a delight to see that the actors were actually playing basketball and doing it decently. Of course, it wasn't perfect, but they rebounded, went for a layup, did cool dribbling moves on the court, showed actual basketball techniques and skills that really impressed me. Same with the track scenes. I adored that we can see the way Vee gets in his head and the use of track to make things feel more elevated. Again, they use actual relay techniques like calling for the baton, practicing the way they hand it off, and everything else that goes with track and field. Production was by far the best thing about YMS, there were plenty of ridiculous product placements, but I'm willing to look pasted that.

Getting into what I loved and didn't like about each couple:

Dome and Vee: I appreciated their dynamic for sure. Vee is kind of a tease who indirectly flirts with Dome and they end up having this strong connection. Dome's actor plays his expressions perfectly in his eyes, and it feels so intense when we see him looking at Vee, whether directly into his eyes or when Vee's not looking. It's very sensual with this couple, and only because that's all it can be since Dome is Vee's sister's boyfriend. The director plays with the impact of touch perfectly. We feel that sense of attractiveness through Dome giving him back rubs, and when Vee is massaging his legs. It's the same attraction when they make sacred eye contact and don't look away, it gives way to such a vibrant aura that it's hard not to want them to be together. While I'm no fan of cheating, I appreciate it in film and tv just because it is a realistic aspect of some relationships, and I can always appreciate realism. Out of every cheating plot I've seen, this one was handled with the utmost respect and delicateness, just because cheating actually never occurs, and is more of a conscious type feel. They don't have any physical intimacy until Dome breaks up with Pan, and while they do admit their feelings for one another before the breakup, it feels more like disloyalty (still not a good thing, but still not cheating). Pan's actor is fantastic, and the scene when she admits to Vee that she saw them kissing was very strong in emotion. It's a heavy topic and of course, she eventually forgives her brother since she can't just never talk to him again. Dome and Vee ended in the most realistic way possible, by keeping things neutral between the both of them, and agreeing to take things one step at a time. I really had no problem with this couple, of course, it's not good to cheat on your girlfriend, especially with her brother, but it was handled in a way that I rarely see in BL and had to be one of the best cheating storylines I've encountered. It's no wonder why this couple was a fan favorite.

Aii and Saen: I'm a sucker for grouchy uke who's either oblivious or ignoring the other's advances towards them, and the overly flirtatious or bubbly Seme who falls first in the relationship (Ex: MingKit, LeonPhob, MeenDuean, GavCai, SkyJao), and these two fit right into that category. I liked how Saen wasn't afraid to flirt and be honest with his feelings for Aii right off the bat. Aii saw it as teasing at first, but eventually, he was on board. The trip to Saen's grandma's house was precious. The delicate way that Saen explains he wants to kiss Aii and Aii being super nervous but allows him to do it. It was perfect, and while I wouldn't have wanted that to be their first time, it was still was really nice. Aii gets the chance to travel to Japan but he debates within himself whether to go or not since he doesn't want to leave Saen and their relationship behind. Which brings me to the point of what kept annoying me with this couple. The problem with the long-distance should've been one singular conflict and been resolved only once. Instead, it is resolved only to be a problem again and it's repeated a few times. Either go or stay, but this shouldn't have to be the repeating disruption in their relationship. I would've also liked it if they had more time to get to know each other, cause I can somewhat believe their feelings for one another, but they get together in such a quick instance that it's difficult to believe they're in love. This couple just needed a few touchups, but for the most part, I enjoyed them. Saen was the freaking cutest and watching Aii just slowly start to fall for him, or when we see him admitting his feelings is the best part of it all.

Tupfah and Torn: This was the best couple out of them all. While they did have plenty of problems, it was still a really good story. I love a good friends-to-lovers trope, and they did perfectly at implementing it. It took Tupfah longer to realize his feelings, but as we see him going through the process of doing so, it's fucking adorable. Their first kiss in front of Torn's house is perfection. They kiss once, and it's very shy as they just go for it, but when Tupfah leans in again, it becomes hot and heavy. And they have a couple other intimate scenes that are planned out accordingly and executed perfectly. I don't mind that at a point, Torn becomes a villain and kind of terrorizes the team because he becomes involved with the bad coach's morals, but it's honestly the best way to show that he was hurting. I think that part of his redemption arc might've been handled too quickly. I wanted to see his action have some actual consequences, but whatever, it's fine with what we get. I agree with others that Tae wasn't the best as Tupfah, but he did okay. There were some times when I wanted him to bring about a stronger performance, but it wasn't so bad that it was unwatchable. He's definitely a lot better than he was in Y-destiny by a longshot. They had the best story, development-wise, and I liked seeing their dynamic as children compared to when they're in college. I love the inside quote of the "go or no go", and it's placed in points in the story that makes it seem more valuable and important. Their chemistry faltered at times, but by the end, it was stellar.

Some other things:

I loved the portrayal of the trans character, and how the director didn't utilize him as a blowoff character, or someone that was to be silly or creepy. He instead helps Tupfah with his feelings, and we get a pretty emotional confession of his feelings and how grateful he was for the team and the coach.

The first time jump was terribly executed. It took a while for me to even realize that a time jump had happened since it's never really said and just implied. There needed to be some indication to the audience that time had passed, or things just got rather confusing.

I think this series could've wrapped up nicely at 10 episodes, and I would've for sure given it a 10 rating, but the extraness that is brought about in the last two is irrelevant. It felt like the screenwriter had ended it at 10, and then forgot they had two episodes left, so they added more and more conflict that was just unnecessary. Like how Aii and Saen's situation was handled just to become a problem again out of the blue when it was already resolved. It's kind of the same with Tupfah and Torn with their little quarrel at the end.

Ratings:

Story: 8 - I really liked the main couple's story. The basketball scenes were done very nicely. The other couples were enjoyable. I'll take two stars off since I firmly believe this could've ended in 10 episodes.

Acting: 9 - Everyone did a really good job. I think that Tae and Tupah's little brother's actor were the weakest links, but it wasn't so bad that it wasn't enjoyable. I'll take one star off for that.

Music: 8.5 - I really liked it. It went well with the tone of the series, and I enjoyed listening to it. I also liked the music choices used throughout this series, like when something bad was happening or about to happen, we hear this booming type of music, and the editors did a perfect job of choosing songs.

Rewatch value: 3: I would for sure go back to rewatch some scenes that gave me butterflies and made me all gushy.

Overall, this is a very nice BL. It seems to be a bit underrated since I don't see it talked about nearly enough, so I hope more people can come around to watching it.

Highly underrated BL on the right person, place & time for love

This show has gone under the radar for some reason BUT it’s one of the best things I’ve watched so far in 2022 so hear me out.

Plot-wise, YMS also has a fairly unique storyline extending beyond just college relationships. Ultimately, it’s a story about young people pursuing their goals relentlessly, and in doing so, oscillating between love and resentment. For the sport and maybe even for other people.

Told through the stories of these 3 couples, 3 corresponding questions are posed: Right person, right time, and right place for a relationship?

For childhood friends Thorn and Fah, they are confronted with the uncomfortable question of whether they’re still right for each other as their paths begin to diverge.

For Ai and Saan, the main obstacle to their relationship is distance. (It turns out 2 people are farthest from each other not because of physical distance, but when they are unable to communicate candidly.)

The third couple, Dome and Vee, was the highlight for me. Theirs is a story of “right person, wrong timing”. Two people forced to hold back despite being inexplicably drawn to each other. Even though their screentime dwindled towards the end, they had a giddying magnetism about them that commanded every scene they appeared in. With that kind of sexual tension, I could look at Dome and Vee looking at each other all day.

In short, this show is great for those who are into sports-themed shows, great for those who are not.

I'm actually gonna miss this series

I started this series not really expecting much. But I was wring. From the basketball to thier love lives, I was enthralled for the majority of the series. And now that it's over, I am actually going to miss it.

Story-8.5/10
From the first episode, I feel for this series theough thier story telling. It actually had me excited in watching the basketball matches and wanting to see how far they would reach. Which I was shocked at, cause I came for a love story, not a sports story.

I loved all three BL couples, cause they added good different stories to the series. And hey, some people may not like the ending for some of them, but I actually did. I felt that it was better this way.

What I despise was the time jump, cause they made my sweet Torn into someone who I didn't like at the end of episode ten and the most of eleven, before he went back to his sweet ways. Yeah, that time jumped screwed up this series a little bit.

Acting/Cast-9/10
I liked everyone's acting. They kept me entertained and I keep coming back every week due to that.

Music-8/10
I like the music. I looked forward in hearing it every week.

Rewatch Valu-8.5/10
I actually do see myself watching this series again. The storyline and acting was no doubt good and I don't mind rewatching it again.

Overall-8.5/10
Overall, I give this series an 8.5. It was actually a good sports and love story (and I will say this again- I was not here lookong for a sports series). This is truly an underrated gem.

Not a bad watch

This series, generally speaking, does not have anything out of the ordinary. It's pretty much the same you would find in other BLs. However, the fact that it doesn't have a refreshing plot doesn't make it a bad watch. It is a good/okay BL to watch.

The main couple was good, but as the drama progressed, their story and chemistry were losing my interest. In some scenes, their interactions felt kind of forced too. They had a lot of unnecessary drama too.

I liked the other two couples more (especially Dome and Vee). Aii and Saen's couple was pretty cute and comforting. Good chemistry too. But, I think Dome and Vee's couple was the best. They had great chemistry, and I found their plot to be more interesting. They even gave me ITSAY's vibes at times.

I honestly think that this series could have been better if all three couples had the same amount of screen time. This series had a lot of drama that could have been avoided, giving a better execution. If they had developed more into Dome and Vee's story, the series would have been more interesting.

But overall, I enjoyed most of this series. I wouldn't recommend it, BUT if you watched the trailer and liked it, go ahead and watch it. It's a good watch to kill time. Just don't have any expectations.
