Their chemistry is worth it, but that's 15 minutes between a nonsense of special episode.

It didn't add anything worth it tbh. Just more couple moments and kisses, not complaining about that but you could sum up all that in 15 minutes and call it a day.

Another silly misunderstanding, and the character growth nowhere to be found. Gene keeps being unreasonable and puts himself and how he feels over trying to be a bit more understanding and putting more effort into the relationship, is always the other part that has to understand him. Sib keeps using white lies to get the things that he wants. 2 years and their communication is still worrisome.

The important plots during the episode, like abuse and mental health only were used as a tool with no ending or importance... You cannot show me a couple that has a guy being abussed and beaten the crap outa it by his boyfriend and move on without that having a propper endind or any relevance for anything.
And let's not talk about yet again another ending wedding for the straight couples that most likely only 4 cats are truly invested or care about.

I still love the couple, the series and everything in between, but my expectations about the series at the beggining were higly different, the main plots that i expected them to cover, like an older couple relationship between two working adults, one being an actor and the other the writer of the novel and having to deal with the entertainment industry and fandoms, were more like a side dish that wasn't even that full. The meal is over, and i am still hungry.

Their chemistry is worth it, but like i said, that's 15 minutes between a nonsense of special episode.

LIE

In the original Lovely Writer series, Gene and Nubsib's relationship was not 100% truthful. They often kept things to themselves and not tell the other what they were thinking.

Although it could be said that nothing would ever come between their love, it's normal that they would no longer be in their cute honeymoon phase after 2 years.

This special episode showed how both Nubsib and Gene chose to lie to each other, but in the end, still forgive each other and made a promise to stop scheming and lying to one another. It was a good conclusion to the original drama all in all.

We started off the episode with Gene's fears and difficulties being portrayed in his dream (as represented by the demon and glass shards). We saw the parallels of Nubsib and Gene's relationship with that of Book and his boyfriend's. We saw how hurt Gene and Nubsib felt after realising that the other had been lying to them. We saw how strong their love for each other was when they chose to talk things out and resolve them properly.

Gene's confession to Nubsib at the end was truly the highlight. Even better than a proposal if I may add.

Finally, we managed to see what happened to Aey after he turned over a new leaf.

The scenes were beautifully shot and the chemistry between Kao and Up were off the charts. They portrayed Nubsib and Gene really naturally.

The ending was really fulfilling. After watching it, we know that Nubsib and Gene's love will continue for a long time. But now, it's time for us to send Nubsib and Gene back into the fictional world.

Kudos to the production team and the actors for Lovely Writer! It's a piece that will stay with me for a long time.

Disappointing, I really expected more

I really expected a lot more from this special episode, but I ended up being really disappointed. The episode takes place 2 years after either the time the two started dating or 2 years after their break ended. I am honestly not sure. But that is not even the problem.

Nubsib & Gene: I really thought the two are over the whole not talking about problems. I guess not. If I found Gene’s awkwardness adorable in the main series, I found his actions towards Nubsib pretty annoying in this special. The two have been together for two years (at least) and he is still this cold towards him. Like how? Why? They didn’t really feel like they were in a long-term relationship, which seems to be a theme I started to notice in many special episodes.

The plot is a mess. We were introduced to some new characters that really had no purpose in the grand scheme of things. We saw a lot of old characters who, again, didn’t really have any real purpose. Except helping Nubsib and Gene make a fool out of each other. Don’t even get me started on Gene’s plan… he crossed many lines with that. Writer or not, that was too much. Then we also got to see Aoey, only for his story to have no real conclusion once again. Why even include him then? Same goes for Mhok.

All in all, it left me annoyed and with more questions than conclusions. It also didn't conclude anything that was left open in the series.

Random but definitely worth watching

I love the mix of horror and romance, it's amazing. There is definitely a lack of communication, which is very common amongst shows, movies, and books focused on romance. I kinda wish I could watch it on YouTube like the main series so I could watch in 1080p, but it is what it is. I still really love this addition to the series. I love how there was no cheating on each other (which is what happens a lot in these kinds of things), they stayed loyal.
I do have to say, though, that this special ep made me hate Aeoy even more because of how selfish and inconsiderate he is. But I love the ending between Gene and Sib, it was very adorable. Please watch this, it's amazing even if it is a bit random.

CHOICES were being MADE

She's messy. Point blank period.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around what I just saw and, honestly, I am quite disappointed about the way things played out. The main season set the bar so high for itself and this special episode blew it. Real bad.

Firstly, it does seem like this episode was thrown together in an hour or so. There's no clear plot, no vision, no cohesiveness, no quality control, no proper pacing, and questionable writing. The beginning felt like the story was going somewhere else, but changed last minute. We even had new characters introduced that seemed to be part of a bigger plot, but were cut off due whatever reason. Maybe lack of budget? Or was this supposed to be the start of a second season that was cancelled last minute? I guess we'll never know.

An hour and forty minutes of content was way too much, while half of that time was completely used for unnecessary content. It kind of felt like a filler episode within a movie that made no sense whatsoever. The beginning and the end were decent enough to make a basic, go-to BL episode; however, on the other hand, the middle part -- the entire beach trip, needed to be REMOVED. I don't even know who thought that entire beach fantasy was a good idea. It just doesn't make sense.

But there were good things as well: I enjoyed the acting and chemistry of the mains. I do like their personalities too since they seem a little unique to your usual cliched BL characters. They made it look more natural and believable than other actors. This is one of those rare occasions in which the support couples/characters are just as fascinating as the main roles and I desperately wish they were given a little more screen time here. This special episode was the best opportunity to bring a good closure to the series and its characters and the writers didn't take it, unfortunately.

Sis, I love the main series, so one part of me wants to recommend this episode for that only reason. However, the episode in itself just lacks on everything. This isn't even a shadow of how good the main season was. So, if you're considering watching this, lower your expectations to the bare minimum.

The real terror is the lack of communication

There are many things about the original series that were never clear to me, unfinished topics and things that did not make sense and to be honest this extra does not add anything to the universe created by the series and in many moments it makes it worse.

Let's start from the idea that the relationship between Sib and Gene already have a few years at the beginning of the special, but we did not notice any progress in their relationship, or in their interactions and on the contrary at the beginning it seems as if they no longer even love each other that much ( something that "changes" as the chapter progresses, but it never ends up being clear).

One thing that I will never understand is why the series in general so romanticizes putting Gene in so many stressful situations, he is always forced to do things that he does not want, It would be expected that after years of being a couple at least, Sib, will know how to recognize when his boyfriend is going through an unpleasant experience, from the beginning it is more than clear that Gene does not enjoy being the center of attention, Sib's actions are not romantic, they are selfish.

On the other hand, Gene seems annoyed with Sib always and although the message towards the end seems to be that he really does love him, the whole situation at the beginning is extremely confusing, I understand that Gene is tired, stressed and busy with his own things, that is normal, so far fine, however, even so, rather the performances imply that something is happening beyond their work and that their relationship is no longer well.

Regarding the whole “horror” thing, well, I just have one thing to say: If you have to go that far to be honest with your partner, is your relationship really worth it?

And well to finish, if Mork seemed to me a completely wasted character in the original series, I do not understand his intention to include him here as if he were going to change or contribute something to the plot, literally in the series they did not let him have more than five dialogues and although of course his situation should cause you "pain", sorry but we don't even know him, I don't know why he is interested in Aey, we know absolutely nothing about him as a person, I don't know how they expect us to have a real bond as an audience.

The inclusion of Aey also seems to me that it happens without pain or glory, although the series implied that it was important they never gave him a background, he is always suffering and I do not know why, I do not know what he is looking for, what are his goals or ambitions, I do not know nothing about him beyond that apparently now they have a Sugar Daddy which honestly could not matter less for the plot or for absolutely nothing, and look, I really don't know, if the plan is to later create a series about Mork and Aey, probably and when that moment comes, it will be time to judge what they do there, but as far as Lovely Writer is concerned, they are poorly developed characters, they are there simply to fill in moments in the plot and cause the occasional moment of misunderstanding between the protagonists, well In Aey's case, Mork is hardly treated as an extra.

Speaking of the performances, everyone is in general in the line of the series, once again Up is the one who steals the most spotlight and the one who manages to move the most with his performance, the others are fine, they comply, but at times they are exaggerated although that may be the intention of the director; Kao does not do a bad job and his chemistry with Up is fine, it is one of the most remarkable aspects, but even so I still find it uncomfortable at times, I don't know if it is because the character is shallow, or if it is the direction or if it is the performance.

I know that this series is the favorite of many and I do not intend to offend anyone with my criticism, however, for me the negative things outweigh the positive ones and it does not allow me to enjoy it at all, even so I can see why it has so many fans and it is fine tastes are subjective and we are all moved and we look for things different in the productions we see.

LOVELY WRITER SPECIAL EPISODE

It was nonsense to go straight to the point. I felt the story writer didn't really have much to write or know what to write. They were struggling to cope with the story and Gene's character was lost and annoying as hell. Like him ignoring Nubsib and all was just really annnoying. They would have created situation to make us see that they were drifting apart and Gene was loving less maybe not make him ignore Nubsib.

It's not worth being 2hrs.

The change of genre is distracting and confusing like what the hell was that opening scene?? Instead of captivating me, it made me wonder if I was watching the Lovely writer I once enjoyed and liked. It should have been better but it just simple proved that they just wanted to do something based on the popularity the 1st season had and instead of giving content, more focus was on making money.

Sib is such a green flag

Packed full of pretty men, especially Up and Kao.

Sib is such a green flag and loves himself some Gene. Gene is an interesting character because he's like a stoic character without the stoism, if that makes sense. Reading the comments, it put a few people off but, if Sib likes it, I love it.

I want more of Aey and his sugardaddy. Aey being both the victim and the victimizer was portrayed to perfection so let's get to his HEA.

I also want more of the new novel cutie and his HEA away from his abusive ahole boyfriend.

I just enjoyed it

Let me tell you, the moment I finished Lovely Writer I realized it's all over and I'll never hear about the characters again (in my opinion it's not a story for season 2). Watching it was like vising old friends and seeing how are they doing. I couldn't help it but just enjoy it, especially the ending. I like the fact that I got to see my favourite characters again and fed my nostalgia.

Nevertheless, there were some aspects that literally made me angry, such as the lack of communication. They do try, but their problems just feel pushed as if for the juicy drama itself. Also, the story itself isn't entirely entertaining and it's the biggest problem here I think. If not for the characters, I wouldn't watch it. I didn't like the Book's story as well, it just didn't make sense to be put there. The new character was introduced, provided some scenes for Gene and Nubsib, then left. It really just could have been better without it mentioned. Or just make him more meaningful to the story as he's new and it's a perfect opportunity to bring up some backstory.

To summarize what I think: the idea of a return for one last time is a good thing, but it surely had some flaws, making it not entirely good. I believe it's okay to think about this movie not that seriously and just watch it for the characters and fun because otherwise it will be unbearable.

boy what the hell boy?

where is the plot??? I kind of hated this. They had the chance to give us closure on aoey but left us with another open ending, I'm just disappointed how they dropped this character. Aside from that this makes no sense frfr, there was genuinely no plot; it was just random scenarios thrown in in attempt to stay below the 90 minute mark. I still love up though woooo go Up Poompat oh yeah!! I will say though, the acting in this one was just kind of off, not what I was expecting cause I loved lovely writer so much, it just doesn't feel like they took this seriously.

The right way to end the series

Special episodes have traditionally been fan service with no real story -- an epilogue of sorts meant to simply reward fans with a little extra sweetness between its two leads. They're a slice of life, showing them get comfortable in their relationship and faced with a minor conflict that's easily resolved within 45 minutes or less. But if a special episode is presented as an almost two-hour movie, one that you have to pay for to watch, we should expect for there to be stakes that could make or break a relationship.

Lovely Writer Special Episode spends most of its runtime on two elaborate schemes. We see Nubsib do what he does best -- avid viewers know what this is so no spoilers needed. Just like in the main series, we see Gene in situations he was forced (or coerced) into. But this time around, both characters have shown growth. They're more nuanced -- by the way, props to Kao and Up for showing those subtle nuances with restrained facial expressions -- while still retaining their season one personalities. It only has been two years since, after all.

While the episode could've used its time more efficiently and showed a more complex story, I feel it didn't have to. Gene and Nubsib are, for the most part, an unproblematic pair and what is shown is really probably the most realistic conflict they can have as a couple. And it's already a much better narrative than the series finale (episode 12).

There's also something to be said about a sequence late into the episode, which delves into separate character arcs. These were told in such a succinct (and effective) manner that there's room for speculation, interpretation, and potential for exploration in a future season or spin-off. One, in particular, involving Aey, is a story that should be told as it deals with another one of the "open secrets" of celebrity life.

Finally, we get to the end, which is the best ending I could ever ask for. It's a quiet one, but packs a punch, especially now during Pride Month. In it, aside from the usual things you'd expect from an ending sequence, they managed to sneak in an important message about a key queer issue -- and did so seamlessly and naturally. And the final frames just sealed the deal, providing a truly satisfying end.

It wasn't a banger.

Maybe because of how good the series is, I expected more of it for this special EP.

And indeed, my expectations were too high that it was an utter disappointment to see how boring it is. There were many unnecessary scenes that were just not entertaining. I had to skip so many parts in hopes of finishing the episode fast.

I like the humour scenes, as well as how SibGene were able to resolve their problems without a huge fight that would have been hard to watch.

Overall, wouldn't rewatch it because it's really boring.
