Sisters

In this episode, Hwa-Ja appears to have been killed by Ryu Shi-oh.I had such high hopes for this character. Especially after being practically adopted by Hwang Geum-joo and turning her life around.Perhaps he only left her for dead? Or, in typical Hwang Geum-joo, the attacker could have been one of her people, and she was wearing a bpv with a blood packet under her shirt? It may have been a necessary gamble to catch him attemptin murder on camera to gather more evidence against him. But after attempting to kill her, I think Ryu Shi-oh is beyond redemtion. This show has had some interesting twists. Hopefully she is still alive and plays an important role at a crucial moment. There are a couple of episodes left to go. So far, until this episode, it has been a solid 10 across the board for me.Killing off characters trying to redeem themselves is a bad look, and gives the impression that trying to change will only get you killed. Not a good look, imo.

The protagonist also has an internal struggle. Especially when Nam-Soon said he is the kind of light that doesn't know if it's real, or fake. But could be real if it really wanted to be.

But in episode 14, he seems to have become irredeemable. But only if Ri Hwa-ja is actually dead.
If not, he could become heroic at the end.
Granted he has committed many crimes and will still have to pay for them.

Perhaps knowing Hwa-Ja's past and seeing "Mother" on her phone and hearing Hwang Geum-joo's voice on the other end is what brings about this spark of hope inside him?
Perhaps he even takes Hwa-Ja to the hospital as his first step toward redemption.
But old habits die hard, and he does feel betrayed by Nam-Soon, so, it is expected that he will do, or try something in retaliation if for no other reason than to balance things out and "even the score", so to speak.
