Overrated. I'm disappointed.
I will get to the point. I felt that the ML felt so ingenuine in the beginning. How did he go from "yea, you are my sister" to "I like you" in less than an episode like who what where when how why, I was so confused? Also, it felt like he wasn't taking the relationship serious most of the time (except for the ending) but for the sake of spoiler, I won't include specifics. He was super cocky but I guess that was his character as well.The sibling relationship and family dynamic of the Sang family was TOP TIER.
I also wished we got to see a little of the friends' relationships and how they were doing. This drama was super centered on just the main couple and I was getting bored of them lol.
THERE IS ALSO A SPECIFIC SCENE WHERE BOTH THE ML AND FL WERE PISSING ME OFF (hint; involved the brother Sang Yan)
I found myself dragging to finish the show and skipping through the parts with the ML and the FL. You might wonder, well why did you even finish the show? ALL FOR ONE CHARACTER. SANG FREAKING YAN.
PLZ PLZ PLZ DIRECTOR PULL A GO GO SQUID AND DO A CONTINUATION OF THIS SERIES FOLLOWING THE LIFE OF SANG YAN AND HIS ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP. In the show he was such a good brother, friend, and son. Like he would always annoy his sister and act mad at her but he was always there for her.
I feel like he would spoil and care for his girl so much but would be protective. UGH GIVE THE MAN A SHOW ASAP. IT WOULD BE SO FUNNY AND SWEET TO SEE HIS RELATIONSHIP.
I was also thinking like a cute, sweet girl for him would be cute to watch but an outgoing girl would be so funny paired with him.

I tried. I really did.I had randomly, one day started a manhua of the same name and did not finish it. Guess the art was not my style. And then I heard Zhao Lusi( I like her) starring in this drama and thought the production would be impeccable.
It was, but that's it.
I like age gap dramas if executed properly, but this drama did not have the magic.
That breathy baby voice of Lusi's had me in tears by the 2nd episode. It was too...juvenile and shallow. Could not feel the chemistry between the leads and had to push myself to complete the 3rd episode in hopes of it getting better.
It didn't. Now I can't even find the motivation to start the 4th episode, it's that serious for me.
I could not feel any personality from the fl and tried to muddle through the experience.
The only saving grace was the brother. Loved him
Edit: Okay so I completed it, never thought I would but I was too bored. The cast is absolutely fabulous and delivers every scene and every action. The pace of the story completely changes after the 8th episode and the chemistry literally melted my screen. I also changed my ratings especially for the cast (fl and ml are terrific) and the etheral ost.
Even if the story is nothing special, the delivery is out if the world.
Ps: I still absolutely LOVE the brother, the highlight if the whole show.

Overrated May - December Romance
I know the main actors are great in acting but they really annoyed me because rather did not convince me that true lovers vibe. Disappointing how SZ's baby talk, the supposedly 20-year-old role portrayal was not smart, and the plot lines were lacking. Their conversations were a bit immature like listening to teenagers sounding superficial. What I like about SZ is that she was ready to defend him at all costs when he was being bullied by the villainess. What I didn't like about DJX was that he allowed himself to be harassed by the villainess in the early episodes. He could have had a restraining order issued against her. There are no such laws about sins (debts) of a father must be paid by son, in my opinion. I was disappointed that her brother did not have enough character development on the screen. I was really curious about his girlfriend. Real age of DJX is confusing. Their kissing scenes were not swoon worthy at all. Not a good match? chemistry, perhaps casting was a mistake? Not a horrible dram a by any means. Have seen Zhao Lu Si in other romantic dramas but this one didn't give me the vibe. The sibling sister-brother relationship was spot on, glad I admire the brother's acting, Victor Ma did a good job on this. I give the writers credit for that! Dislike flashbacks, story is too slow. You can feel the emotion so well
personally I never really watch dramas where the girl and the boy were like siblings and they grew up to fall for each other (ex.21,25. go ahead) but I started to watch this one and I don't regret it one bit!!!! The story is amazing and the way they show the emotions and how their story connects through the OST ,the objects used in the drama and their past is amazing they connect everything together so you know how special their relationship really is and how deep they are into each other's lives all the things the main lead gives to the girl all have a story behind it and how their relationship was at the moment and how it grew (ex.the dog when she was in HS to the bracelet when she was in uni) they show how their relationship grew with such good emotion that it feels like you're the one in their place it's amazing!!!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
REFRESHING…!
This drama was a very refreshing one, with no toxic ex’s revenge or anything like that, a very simple love story but yet very heart warming.I really loved watching the drama as every episode ended up making me want to know what happened next. ( I watched it ongoing)
I mainly watched the drama because of the Main leads as both are my fav and seeing them together was a great and a very refreshing pair.
The actors and the story did equal justice to the characters.
I overall loved the drama very much as it was very relatable, all of us atleast once in our life time have had this inevitable crush on someone which is hard to resist and how we end up with that feeling. This was the feeling that actually took me back to my crush.
it was really a good choice to watch it. I suggest all hopeless romantics to atleast give this drama one watch. They will definitely on regret it…!
The ost of the drama is also great. The songs just happen to fit in pretty well as if they were meant to be.

it made me believe in love
I was a different person before and after watching this. straight up one of the best romances I’ve ever witnessed. Main actors had incredible chemistry and gave me butterflies. The development of having a sibling-like relationship to a romantic one was flawless, despite being a tricky trope. A heartwarming, drama free story that healed me. One of The Best Romance I've seen for a while
I'm a big fan of romance drama. But lately many romance dramas just become so cliché, boring, and too cringey with repititive and expected plot. And at times, I see that the chemistry between the two leads is just awkward and too fake. BUT Damnnn Hidden Love just breaks it for me. I was hesitant to watch the drama at first. Cause I've grown sick of school/campus romance drama. So it took me weeks until I decided to give the drama a try.This drama has everything I'm trying to avoid from a drama. A secret crush thingy, a childhood love thingy, a ML with a terrible past and got prejudiced by the society, parents' disapproval of the leads' relationship, cutesy FL, high-school and campus love story, etc. But what I didn't expect is that I freaking love the drama since ep 1. The two leads' encounter was soooo cute. The love started to blossom from when the FL was so young and got called out by the school teacher. She met her brother's handsome friend and asked him to pretend to be her brother and came to her school. And ever since, the FL has a secret crush on the ML and that crush soon develop to become love.
Many people might find a huge age gap love story a bit weird. The thing that I find it funny is that the leads are actually has 5 years age gap. It's not too far in my opinion. But the actress who played the younger version of the FL was too much younger for a 5 years age gap (as the ML was already in his 'adult' look). So for me it will make sense if they simply dress the original actress much younger with different hairstyle or makeup instead of using a child actress. Cause people don't grow that much in 5 years. But it's not a big deal tho cause the child actress did a splendid job. Have so many things that I love about the drama that I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START?
But I'll try to list them down.
1. An admirable female lead
As I said, they have a pretty huge age gap. The FL hides her love for the ML. But instead of pursuing the ML like a childish girl in many dramas, I love how she actually was determined to study hard and make herself worthy before pursuing the man she loves. She's giving me a smart, independent, and ambitious girl in love. She's also very strong (not in a physical way). The FL was very serious about the person she loves. To the point she didn't let any bad things that she heard about the ML from other people, wavered her love for the ML or made her rethinking about their relationship or suddenly breaking up with the ML. THANK GOD WE FINALLY HAVE A LOGICAL FEMALE LEAD.
And I love every single time the FL was protecting the ML or simply just comforting and trying to boast up his self-esteem. The scene where the victim's daughter threw water to the ML's face and the FL threw the water back to the girl's face, damnn she's so bad ass. And everytime the victim's daughter was trying to change the FL's mind by telling her bad things about the ML's family, and our FL always said "What his dad did, doesn't have anything to do with him" like I'M CRYING OUT OF HAPPINESS??
And just everytime the FL was trying to ensure the ML that he's an amazing person and nothing in the world that can change that is so cute and heart warming. "Duan Jiaxu you're the best. You're an amazing person. Everyone loves you" I'M SOBBING?? so yes, I still have plenty of good points about the FL but I'm gonna stop here or else I'm going to write a novel about her.
2. Loveable ML
I love how our ML was not a cold, arrogant, kinda mean person. Throughout the entire drama, from the beginning to the end, HE'S SO LOVABLE. He was so gentle, so caring, so warm, so loving, so loyal, so....sjskskskjs. I'm IN LOVE WITH HIM. I'm head over heels for him. You can't not love him I swear. You will find yourself fall in love with him IMMEDIATELY. I love his character so much to the point I kept thinking "I need a Duan Jiaxu in my life" while watching the entire drama. This drama has one of the best ML character I've ever seen. Chen Zheyuan really executed his character AMAZINGLY. I'm in love with both Chen and Duan?
3. Cliché NON-CRINGEY love story that make sense
The story of hidden crush is pretty common in dramas. But HIDDEN LOVE really executed this story perfectly and even took it on another level. I love how the FL waited until she's in a legal age to pursue the ML. And I love how the drama didn't drag the story for too long. Like it doesn't took forever for the ML to realise his feeling for the FL. So we get lots of lovely and beautiful romance scenes between the two leads. I also love how there's no sudden breakup due to misunderstanding in this drama??FINALLY. I love how both of them were fighting for each other to overcome each other's struggles and just be there for each other. So I really wanna hug the script writer, author, and all the production crews for this amazing story line.
4. Cute siblings relationship
You will find one of the cutest brother and sister relationship in this drama. Like all the fights and arguments that they had is VERY MAKE SENSE and relatable. Siblings do fight with each other, but at the end of the day they care and love for each other so much and hate to see each other's getting hurt.
I will end my list here as I'll seriously write a novel instead of a review if I keep going. Overall, this drama is a must watched and one of the best cdrama I've seen for a while. The story, the casts, the characters's and story's development, the makeup, the settings, the cinematography, the musics, EVERYTHING ARE JUST BEAUTIFULLY-MADE. so if you're still hesitant to watch this drama, well, DON'T BE. Cause I promise you this drama won't let you down.

Boring and overated
I can’t understand whats the hype with this drama, I got bored half way through and could not finish it. To make matters worse, the FL’s character is too cringey with the baby voice and acting cute way too much for her character’s age in the show. Best Chinese Drama!!!
This is my first time completing a Chinese drama and I’m so glad I decided to watch this. Zhao Lusi and Chen Zhe Yuan’s popularity can be explained through this drama because they performed their roles excellently. Seriously they have the best chemistry out of all romantic dramas I’ve watched. They portrayed a couple in love and expressed romance so naturally. I especially love every moment between ML and FL when they start dating because we get to see how much they deeply love and care for each other, absolutely precious bond they have. It was a beautiful series that teach many valuables lessons about familial, romantic, and platonic love. I cried tears of joy and sorrow and sympathized with the characters from beginning to end. The rewatch factor value is a 10/10! I feel like I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed watching this series. Heart warming drama!
The plot, the soundtracks, and the chemistry between Zhao Lusi and Chen Zhe Yuan were extremely perfect! One of the cdramas that I would recommend to many people. A very sweet love story, warmth of the family also the cuteness of the brother-sister siblings make our heart feel so calm, It’s really worth watching over and over again. The acting all of the cast are chef kiss (they look so natural).Sang Zhi is such a thoughtful, cute and smart character. She never gave up on her love and pursue her dream in education. Duan Jia xu, HE IS A WALKING GREEN FLAG MAN i love his character and started dreaming about where I could get a man like that in the real world???
At the end, good job hidden love team this drama is a masterpiece!✨

How to feel single for 25 episodes straight....
I watched this gem with my friend and we both loved it so much. This was such a fun, entertaining, and heart-fluttering show about friendship, first love, heartbreaks, and growing up - I thoroughly enjoyed it so so much! Zhi Zhi was such a sweety, cutie patootie and grew into such a kind young woman, who really fought for the things that mattered to her. Duan Jiaxu as a male lead ... I can't imagine anyone else other than Chen Zhe Yuan playing him. He is so expressive with his eyes, it's insane. His character had to go through many hardships being so young, but it was nice to see how he gradually relied on Zhi Zhi. Thanks to her, he finally felt like he could be loved too ? My only criticism would be that I wish they had casted a younger version for Jiaxu as well as they did for Sang Zhi. I think this way the age difference that is addressed in the drama anyway wouldn't have been that big of a problem to some audiences. Sang Zhi's young version just looked so significantly younger than Jiaxu that it's no wonder people were like "eh" at first. Had they used an actual teenage boy, I feel it wouldn't have been so "bad". Also... they were kind of inconsistent with the age gap of 5 years... qhen Zhi Zhi turned 19, Jiaxu later turned 26? Why was he suddenly 6 years older?? Didn't make sense lol. Beautiful first love sweet story... Like a fairytale everyone wished to have
Hold on to your seats because I've got to tell you about this drama that blew my mind! I mean, Rosy Zhao's performance was out of this world, and her physical transformations were so on point that I had to do a double-take. From a teenager to a young adult, she crushed every single aspect of her character's portrayal.And let's not forget about the electrifying chemistry between the two leads - it was absolutely off the charts! Their on-screen relationship was so genuine that I felt like I was watching real life unfold right before my very eyes. I can confidently say that this drama has earned a spot in my top three list of must-watch dramas, and I'm sure it will have the same effect on you too, regardless of your age.
The entire cast was spot on, and each member brought their A-game to the table. The actress who played the protagonist's mother was particularly impressive, and I was blown away by her talent.
