It couldn't decide what it wanted to be
My typical disclaimer: This is totally my opinion, so please don't come at me with hate.I will admit to being a romance junkie. I love sweetness, cuteness, and happiness. I was so looking forward to the pairing of Song Kang and Kim You Jung. But, to me, this one seemed like it was all over the place, trying to find a place to land.
Story: Not original by any stretch of the imagination. I kept thinking that I'd seen certain things in other dramas and the one that stuck out the most was him burning up, a la Goblin. So, he became a demon because he killed himself? If the crazy family member that died in jail became a demon as well, that would have been interesting. So, we've got the past lives that we've seen so many times. I do have to say that the past lives parts were beautifully filmed. Slow motion of her dancing with the swords, her hanbok billowing out, that was lovely. Evil family - check. Red herrings - check. 2ML Lee Sang Yi as Seok Hoon has the look of a villain and they took advantage of that. That character had no purpose other than to show that someone else is pining over the FL. The title of the drama could have been better titled "You think you're a demon? Wait until you meet my family!" Yikes, so much evil. Irritating 2FL that will do pretty much anything to get the ML - check (I am SO tired of this!) Quest for power - check. Everyone in the family has their own wants, they all hate each other and will do anything to gain power. Female hobo that is God - the thing that stuck out most to me was in some scenes they forgot to use makeup to make her teeth look rotten. Then we had the obligatory "things that make you go hmmm" scenes. The police couldn't arrest the bad guy because they didn't have enough evidence? They had him dead to rights, yet they arrested her with no evidence, mainly because she didn't do it! When Koo Won went away toward the end of the drama, where did he go? He went away, but not, he'd come to her at night. And can I just say this woman must be a REALLY deep sleeper if she never knows that he's rubbing her hair, her face, and getting in the bed with her.
Acting: Good, except for the sister of the head guy in the family. She was seriously overacting.
I normally put what I liked at the top, but in this case, I had to rate lower because of all of the above.
CHEMISTRY: Oh, so, good. Both romantically and comedically. They were just such a darling couple together. The wardrobe department dressed them in complimentary outfits, so the attention was on them and their actions. And it doesn't need to be said, but I'll say it, both Song Kang and Kim You Jung are SERIOUSLY beautiful. If I could have seen more of them and less of everything else, my rating would have been much higher.
Kim Hae Sook at Chun Sook. I LOVE her in everything, and when she got killed off early on, I was mad! But here, I was glad of all the scenes where she showed up to comfort Do Hee. The Christmas scene with her, and her family, at gift to Do Hee from Koo Won, was especially beautiful.
I wouldn't tell anyone to run away from the drama if they asked, but I can't really recommend it either. I was so disappointed. I kept holding off on watching it because I thought it was going to be my new favorite. Alas, it was not to be.

Funny, exciting, cute
This show is probably my favorite K-drama yet.Positives:
- Song Kang's acting is amazing (and he's just very gorgeous)
- interesting and well-written female lead
- well-thought out story line and fantasy elements
- funny side characters
- interesting villain
- thriller/gore-like elements
- very strong and good start & middle
- the soundtrack (the instrumentals!!!) is so good
- the insight into history and religion were interesting
Negatives:
- the last two episodes are much worse than the rest of the series and can't really compare - the plot and the character development feels out of place and uncharacteristic. This would have been better without the last two episodes (whose conflict could've been solved within minutes)
- some characters are a bit ridiculous/unserious and there are a few cringy moments
- the villains were a bit predictable but that wasn't the point, so it's fine
Overall really a great series. I especially loved Guwon, he was funny, pretty, epic, entertaining, and just great in general. The only real downside is that the show drops a bit in quality after/around ep. 13, but that is the case in many K-dramas.

Side characters were funny
I don’t usually take to k-Humour… but I found this drama quite funny;) Kudos especially to the side characters- the office colleagues, the two assistants and the Wild Dogs gang! Amidst the dark, mystery thriller plot, their light -heartedness and slapstick comedy made it quite enjoyable.Of course the visuals of both Song Kang and Kim You Jung speaks for itself, and their chemistry was quite believable. Stylist did a good job with his and hers outfits and hair.
Some of the underlining storyline and character roles were a little confusing, and it can be a little scary with some scenes. All in all it was a good watch.

Perfect balance of fantasy and romance
My Demon surprised me with how well they managed to do a romance drama while still keeping the fantasy elements all the way through, and keeping an entertaining storyline. I will say that most of the twists were fairly predictable, but even still the story itself was very enjoyable to watch.Jung Gu-won (Song Kang) plays a demon who makes deals with people in exchange for their soul. Additionally, he has powers that essentially make him invincible. Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung) is the CEO's favorite potential successor of Mirae group, though she's the only non-blood related candidate. This naturally creates tension within the family of this corporation, and the lengths to which the other family members are willing to go to in order to destroy Do-hee become clear as the story progresses. When a twist of fate bring Gu-won and Do-hee together, they both reluctantly become reliant on each other, which leads to unexpected romance between them.
Overall, a great fantasy romance. They somehow managed to hit every romance trope and still pull off each one. The actors have great chemistry together, and the development of the relationship is well-paced and fun to watch.

Goethe’s Faust as a Fantasy Romance Drama?
Ok, not entirely but “My Demon” definitely contains many elements of Goethe’s famous classic drama “Faust”. “My Demon”, however, is awesome and sweet. A very enjoyable fantasy romance drama. The acting is very good, and I really mean every actor. There is not a single weak performance and every actor matches the character that they play perfectly. The good cast elevates a story that is probably not that new and innovative. But the story is also well paced. After every comedic passage the tragic twists hit me in the guts.
“My Demon” throws quite a lot of things in the mix that can or cannot be believed and/or can or cannot be criticized - rebirths, God/universe, heaven, hell, various religions … Sometimes humans are eviler than the devil himself. Human greed and moral corruptness are infinite and the few pure souls are being crushed.
However, the final episode ultimately proves that we aren’t watching a classic tragedy but a romance drama where good wins over evil - those that are able to love and make sacrifices find salvation. Although, we as the audience have to swallow some sad moments along the way. The ending is VERY sweet - for some maybe too sweet - and entirely glosses over the past deeds of the demon and the perspectives of a relationship between an immortal and a mortal person.
But even if you don’t like the story at all, you can still enjoy “My Demon” simply by marveling over the handsomeness of its two leads, Kim Yoo Jeong and Song Kang, (and their outfits - kudos to the costume designers). These two people are incredibly gorgeous individually but together they are UNREAL - and their unrealness is probably one of the points this drama wants to make…

About making choices, greed and doing the right thing
I like this drama based on fantasy and supernatural. As human we tend to make decisions irrationally, then get you into trouble feeling regrets. The demon or angel in the story just gives you the feeling that there is no other way out but to take the deal from him. Dunno if I will do that. In my opinion this drama had presented a lot of whys and how the hell questions for me with those situations feeling helpless and desperate. We argue, hate and destroy each other, and we also love, help and save each other in the end. Happiness comes from misfortunes? and other trivial things. Feeling happy IMO is all different experience. It's an okay drama for me. I cried a little over the FL feeling sad and alone in some scenes with flashbacks of losing parents and having to love your savior and be abandoned again. Will I rewatch this? maybe or maybe not.
Melhor personagem: Juh Seokhoon! Fight me if you don't agree!
Conclusão: Fiquei com depressão pós-drama como já não ficava há muito tempo! Só prova o quão boa foi esta semana.

Amazing performances yet messy writing
It's an interesting premise that tripped and rolled down the stairs at the last steps. This drama is good overall and the acting is amazing but the messy script in the last third brings the whole thing down. What I liked:
***The performances. I think all of the actors gave really good performances for their characters. The main leads were great, and I especially liked Kang Seung-Ho who portrayed the grandson of the late Madam Joo.
***The soundtrack. It's nice, not overly noticeable though. I loved the intro song.
***The basic premise. If I overlook the messy details of the drama the fundamental plot is pretty interesting.
***The characters. Except for the villain and both second leads because of the flawed writing.
What I didn't like:
***Messy script/characterization in the last third of the drama.
(1.) It was an interesting decision to reveal Noh Suk Min as the main villain in the 9th episode just like that. We get to see a nice compilation of him doing his villainous deeds, and then a face reveal. Just like that, on a pretty silver platter and everything. Do the writers consider the viewers to be so dumb to not figure out who was responsible for everything? Why can't we piece everything together with the main leads? It would have been so much more interesting if we got to 'investigate' with them together. Also, Suk Min has the audacity to cry when his son and eventual victim tragically passes away due to how Suk Min was treating him? As of episode 12, we didn't get to see a close bond between the two of them to believe Suk Min's tears if they were genuine. If the tears are fake, he is not portrayed as a good actor/two-faced manipulator who has a curated persona shown to the public; he is shown as a cold and cruel person so it would be uncharacteristic to fake the tears. Whichever option doesn't make sense of the tears anyway. To me, it translates as bad writing.
(2.) The technical decision to make a whole separate episode for Gu-Won's past life instead of delivering the same information in a more elegant way. Maybe giving him wisps of dreams of how in his past life he fell in love and was made into a demon. He could have had a separate arc of finding out/trying to forget his past life with echo-y lines and foggy visuals from his dreams (you know, how people usually remember their dreams when they wake up). Mans had a whole movie play out in his mind one night instead and became conflicted about how he could be the cause of Do-Hee's downfall. This conflict could have been delivered with better writing quality and no changes to the amount of material filmed. Also, we get to see almost the same dream sequence backstory when Do-Hee remembers her past life. I can get past the first huge dream/past life backstory exposition but repeating it again and almost shot for shot? Exhausting and boring.
(3.) We are shown that after Gu-Won loses his powers his contracts are terminated, they literally burn to ashes, it's as if the wishes were never made (the little girl gets sick again). Since he got back his powers were his contracts magically restored? Why? Is this how it works? Shouldn't he make the contracts anew, the old ones burned away? I know it's nitpicky but hey, the drama should stick to its own rules.
***Stereotypical 'evil' second leads. Why do writers still rely on the drama created by second leads to drive the main romance forward? Can people truly not write good multidimensional characters that have their own story regardless of their feelings for the unattainable main leads? Both Jin Ga-Young (the dancer) and Joo Seok-Hoon (the not-really-cousin of Do-Hee) are one-dimensional 'pathetic' characters with unrequited love for their corresponding main lead. Nearing the end of the drama they come to realize that they have no chance to win over their main lead and move on, as ALWAYS with these types of characters. Uhhh. I'm just disappointed that the writers made these unsubstantial characters to drive the main leads away from each other when the main thing that is holding the second leads together is their unrequited love, warnings of how the other main lead is bad news, longing looks with eyes full of tears taped together with a few pieces of office tape.

Just an average drama
This drama is just okay, nothing too special. The two main leads give good performances, but the story feels kind of been-there-done-that. It's like they took bits and pieces from other Korean dramas and mashed them together. I mean, we've seen the whole "rich mom adopts an orphan" thing a million times before. And of course, her greedy biological kids only care about her money and pretend to be nice after she dies, but they're just trying to grab everything for themselves. However, the adopted child, armed with determination and resilience, stands up against their nefarious actions, striving to protect what is rightfully theirs.
The problem is, even though it's only been five episodes, the drama is already getting repetitive. It's like they're just going in circles without adding anything new. The initial excitement has fizzled out, and it feels like a chore to keep watching.
I don't know about you, but I like dramas that bring something fresh to the table. Yeah, the performances are good, but that's not enough to save a drama that's stuck in the same old clichés. They need to take some risks and surprise us with something unexpected.
In short, this drama is just average. The performances are decent, but the story is lacking in originality. It's like a mixtape of overused plots and tropes. Hopefully, things pick up in the upcoming episodes and give us something to really get hooked on.

Overrated.
I started watching My Demon without expectation when I found it on new released in netflix. I'm quite okay with yoojung and songkang so I gave it a go eventho I'm not a fantasy-this-genre fans. The first few episodes was okay but still fun. Here was some of my impressions while watching it:- Their 0 chemistry. I expect more from yoojung tbh, they are beautiful but I couldn't feel the connection
- the staring contest is too much. Why slow mo and paused everytime they look at each other. This was very annoying for me.
- the obsessive dancer. I skipped her part
- The assistant.. he's so one dimensional. Well.. almost all characters are one dimensional.
- The villain was more like demon than the demon itself. He knew everything, be at the right place, powerful. And the demon was so useless and stupid.
- They killed the grandma too soon. She's one of the few interesting character
At least I still stay to watch because I want to know what's next until ep 9 when they start to be lovey dovey out of nowhere (it is for me, the have no chemistry) and the story was going nowhere I had enough and dropped this.
The ongoing drama along with my demon like Samdalri, Park's Marriage Contract, Marry My Husband eventually grabbed my attention more and I dropped this one.
Have a lot of potential, but really too shallow and childish for my taste. The chemistry between the leads was bad. The story was bad. The side characters were not interesting. What a waste of such a big budget. The cinematography was good tho, it shows it's expensive budget.
My demon reminded me to not watch this genre anymore because the logic wont fit however I want to understand it.
No, i wont recommended this to anyone if you are not a teenager. Maybe if you are a teen you will love this so much because you haven't watch much Kdrama enough to be fed up with this one ?
