The story line is good
The storyline was interesting and new. The Casting was also good. I loved it and am hoping for season two because the ending left me with lots of questions. The cinematography is also good. this drama has lots of interesting characters. It was fun to watch it. the visuals and the aesthetic of the drama were different but in an excellent way. Overall the drama was amazing.

facilmente o melhor dorama do ano

Superpowers + Romance with scam plot? Why not
__*Atypical Family*__ - K-Drama - 9/10Quite a refreshing take on the superpower story. Based on my usual drama ratings, this would deserve an 8.5, but I raised it to a 9 due to a few factors like favorite actors and having just 12 episodes.
The acting was commendable. While the romance wasn't particularly hot, steamy, or cute, it was quite decent and enjoyable. The side stories and supporting actors were adequate as well. Overall, this drama had a good pace and was definitely binge-worthy.
__*Plot*__
The story revolves around a wealthy family with hidden superpowers. However, they are in a slump and have lost their powers for various reasons, such as depression, insomnia, and obesity. The female lead is a scammer who, along with her family, schemes to marry into this rich family and swindle them out of their money.
__*Genre*__
Fantasy, romance

sigh, okay...
FIRST of all, jang ki yong what the hell? genuinely, what the actual fuck. alas, i'll come back to this question very soon.second of all, can we leave time travel k-drama plots behind us? i think we got our fill, & we do not need to see it for another..decade, at least!
— to come back to the story, i think that the side characters of this drama really saved face. claudia kim's character, although amazing for a really long duration of the show, somehow gets a really whimsical plotline & development somewhere around the end of the season. some things just refuse to make sense, but the question that bugs me the most is why the lesbian erasure? you build up a genuine story that has a root, a heavy ass trunk && a crown and you throw it away...what for? to fit a heteronormative standard? sure, okay. fuck you though.
— when it comes to our main couple, i simply couldn't see it. i didn't hate the entire con artist / rich clueless man trope, but it lost appeal as quickly as it earned some. mind you, i was extremely excited to see jang ki yong in another role, but this is potentially the worst role of his career. at the beginning everything's fine, and you're trying to overlook his responses because of his trauma & mental battles, but some things just get fuuucking old. and these writers dragged it so long; they sucked every drop out of the 'helpless dad' trope. grow a fucking backbone, you're not 12.
— and the prepubescent adolescent, ina, pissed me off! but alas, like father, like daughter. some therapy wouldn't hurt their wallets.
—quite frankly, to wrap it up...it was boring, predictable && extremely unreasonable. even the generous 12-episode format felt like too long. ew.

Disappointing story, but loved the cast
July 2024I think I'm going to be in a minority here, as this really didn't do it for me.
I did like the cast a lot. As an aside, I have to say, I find the difference a head of longer hair makes to JKY's features, astonishing. It totally softens his appearance and he looks younger than he does in some of his other roles (which are quite diverse). Took me a minute to recognise him!
I thought the latter half of the drama was better, as the pace picked up, but none of the characters grew on me. Bok I-na got a pass because she was young and surrounded by a selfish bunch of supposed adults, in her terribly dysfunctional family.
Every character in that family annoyed me. All wrapped up in themselves, cold and narcissistic. Whilst they may have lost their powers, it quickly became evident they did nothing wortwhile with them before. The poor father figure was nothing more than a servant and completely taken for granted.
I have only ever watched 2 dramas that involved time-travel, where the plot didn't either cause confusion, or lose its way, and this isn't one of them.
There was just too much of Gwi-ju revisiting specific scenes, refusing to give up on trying to alter events, which his 'superpower' doesn't allow him to do.
He himself seemed to begin to question reality / time, as did Da-hae and to be honest, I was in there with them!
Da-hae's 'family' were unpleasant as well, running a sauna and ruthlessly scamming people on the side. I thought they were all made for each other.
The story attempts to salvage all their personalities, but for me it was too late. I did feel a certain amount of sympathy for Gwi-ju, but more for poor I-na. Regardless of the past, he had a duty of care, but instead wallowed in self-pity. The Grandmother was no better and probably my least favourite character, together with Baek Il-hong.
I found a fair bit of Gwi-ju's bouncing around his past very confusing and most of the time, pointless. The plot feels made up as it goes along at times, with no explanation of why certain things are possible. What lies in the future is another can of worms.
Considering they were born with powers and grew up around them, one would have thought they, and definitely Man-heum herself, would be used to her dreams and how to interpret them; but no.
I found the ending bizarre and simplistic, as well.
The very point of their powers was never touched on either and I certainly couldn't work that out.
Very disappointed; I expected more.

Its hard to put in words, but lets say it was good
Its hard to put in words, but lets say it was good.I loved the development of the side roles, and the child actor for Ina , got me shedding some tears. rly loved here.
I totaly see the critic for fat shaming and i also think they used it rly agressively. but it shoudnt stop you from Watching the show (my opinion).
The Main roles where believable and the plot twists though expected where fun to watch.
idk if it was worth Watching in the end, but just for making me smile and cry, i thank the actors and director/writer.

A Show That Lived Up To Its Name!
The Atypical Family quickly went from a ho hum show for me to one that became a must watch each week. Suddenly, we had a show that dealt with concepts in a clever way.The vehicle used to bring the future into contact with the past was so well done. It made perfect sense.
Was the show insensitive, politically incorrect (or woke for that matter). I didn’t think so. Show was not designed to offend, treat the characters who may have a disadvantage disrespectfully or treat them differently.
We had two huckster families. One that used super powers to secure advantage surreptitiously, one that wasn’t adverse to harming others to get what they wanted. Yet, both were destined to come together. How they did this through their various entanglements quite tickled my fancy.
I quite liked Sauna Mum and her family. The transition they go through from mobster to morally grey was one of the highlights for me.
With SuperGran and her tribe, I’m not sure if show had done enough to convince me of their reform for the better.
Show lost much of its shine for me in the penultimate episodes. We also had the typical kdrama ending kick in. However, I totally enjoyed how show ended. It was clever, neat and really appealed to my sci-fi sensibilities. I gave it 8.5 stars in the end 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🥝

What a Surprise.
I was pleasantly surprised by this drama. Unique and well played even though sometimes complex to follow. The ending was interesting but i won't spoil it for others. Overall, give the drama time if you watching the early episodes. It's kind-of strange so give it some time, you won't be disappointed.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
