I like the fact that this atypical drama took on the superpower genre and turned it into something original and unexpected. Rather than following the usual “with great powers come great responsibilities” rule, the family had little interest in saving the world. Instead, they tried to use their superpowers to live an ordinary life, even as ordinary life kept getting in the way of their superpowers. The counterpoint to the family was another atypical family of scammers, simultaneously despicable and endearing. The music in the drama was also unusual and, I thought, wonderful. I found The Atypical Family’s ultimate message of love and sacrifice to be much more compelling than that of the other Korean superpower drama, "Moving," which ended in the usual apocalyptic superpower battle between good and evil. Hair may be messy, but the flow remains neat
I think this drama deserves to get a 2-digit rating and is in first place in the OTT rankings. Here's why:The actors' acting is extraordinary. Honestly, this is the first time I've seen Chun Woo Hee and Claudia Kim's acting, but their acting is really wow. Moreover, Chun Woo Hee... there is a reason why she is a Chungmoro. The quality of her acting is above the average Korean actress I have ever seen. And Claudia Kim, I know she's played in Fantastic Beasts, but I've never actually seen her act. But when I look at it, wow... so far, of the many Korean dramas that have the theme of body transformation, the depiction of people with large bodies is the most similar to that depicted by Claudia Kim. And I was amazed by the stylist who paid attention to the details of the transformation from the neck to the fingers.
As for Park So Yi, I've been attracted to her acting since watching See You In My 19th Life. And her acting is really that good and cool... if she consistently stays in good projects like this, maybe she can follow in Kim Hyang Gi's footsteps.
Lastly, Jang Ki Young's acting. One word, WAH. I watched quite a lot of Jang Ki Young's dramas, from Come and Hug Me, until the last time I saw him briefly in the drama Now, We Are Breaking Up. His acting is really good and satisfying in this drama. The best compared to his previous dramas. Maybe it's also because, in the end, he didn't get the role of a cool guy or a little talker, here he stepped out of the character he usually plays, really friendly hahaha.
And what amazed me the most, in episode 12, was his acting was crying, wow... I didn't know he could act that well. Until the veins on his face pop out too. This time Jang Ki Young can finally shine in his drama. If I remember correctly, Jang Ki Young has often been a male lead, but usually, the female lead or other actors are highlighted. But now he has finally succeeded in really giving off his aura in this drama.
This drama can highlight all the existing characters and doesn't make us feel like we're wasting time when scenes other than the main character appear. Even the excited Loveline between I Na and Joon Woo is one of the most eagerly awaited scenes in this drama. Da Hae's family all have strong characters and are really wow. All the actors here managed to attract the audience's attention even though they didn't have much screen time.
What makes this drama deserve more popularity than it is now is the plot. This drama only has 12 episodes, and it was the right decision to make this drama only 12 episodes. Just like when I reviewed Revenant, this drama also has a neat plot and very few plot holes. Each episode is reviewed interestingly and even though there are a lot of back-and-forth scenes, it's not confusing at all because it's made that clear.
I'm a fan of stories on the topic of parallel worlds. If you research it more, it's not just superpowers or ordinary time travel, but it also has parallel worlds. Like Doraemon who came to Nobita so that he could be successful like in the future where Doraemon was there and it came true, this drama also makes Gwiju in the present go back to the past so that the future where Da Hae is there comes true. And that wowed me. Moreover, the ending of this drama is unpredictable. The ending is not forced but makes good use of ideas and genre.
The production quality, the filters they use, and the soundtrack they use make us feel like we are in the drama when we watch it. Our focus is really on this drama. I'm one of those people who is often skeptical about Korean dramas that have the fantasy genre because so far the only Korean drama in the fantasy genre that has a satisfying ending for me is Moving. But it seems like this drama is the second Korean fantasy drama I am very satisfied with the ending.

Seriously it was outstanding but somehow i think the last episode could have been better.But this was full package of everything I want in a drama.
Not lying I started watching it because of the casting and I am satisfied by their acting and screenplay.
From the first to very last episode it's very interesting each episode have some twist with great storyline

Um dorama que me surpreendeu.
Comecei a assistir por conta de alguns comentários nas redes sociais, mas não é que a história me surpreendeu? Achei uma temática diferente, do que eu já assisto normalmente.Uma família com superpoderes, que não sabem lidar com o fato que o estão perdendo, por conta da era moderna e por problemas pessoais.
O bom que aborta temas que fazem a gente reflexionar: como lidar com a perda, como lidar com as frustrações, como lidar com a indiferença, como lidar com a solidão.
E uma mulher que entrou apenas na família para extorqui-los, acaba sendo a chave para a solução de todos os problemas.
Gostei de todos os personagens, e o desenvolvimento dos mesmos. A única coisa que achei que poderia ter sido melhor elaborado é com relação ao desenvolvimento do romance dos principais. No meu ponto de vista achei muito acelerado, o que me casou uma pergunta: em que momento eles começaram de fato a se amar? Isso me incomodou um pouco. Não sei se também não enxerguei uma química entre os atores que fizesse eu sentir isso. Mas tirando isso, achei a história perfeita.
E como a história deles estava conectada, tornou tudo lindo. E o romance inesperado da irmã do prota com o cara da sauna foi simplesmente sensacional. Gostei muito também do atores mirins, eles arrasam.
Só achei que o final deixou muitas brechas, gostaria que tivesse sido melhor desenvolvido. Mas foi lindo de ver o momento em que o filho deles foi busca-lo, e assim a família se tornou completa.

A-not-so-Typical K-drama
Atypical family is not your typical Kdrama and I think that's very clear from the description itself. I always love to watch romcoms, melo, and thrillers, but I always find these dramas very refreshing. One thing I have noticed with Netflix is that they mostly like to take these kind of 'out-of-the-box' dramas.Now there's a lot of things I liked and disliked about this series that I will explain below.The Good
1. The Plot
A family with superpowers? YES!! I don't think we have any Kdrama about a 'family' with superpowers. What I am glad about is that they didn't overdo it unlike some English series that I have watched. I was excited about the plot, but as the story developed, I had different opinions.
2. The Music
The music is great! Especially 'I see you' by Lee Sora. As soon as I heard that song playing, i felt like I was flying and transcended to another universe. None of the music are dramatic. They are soothing? (I am not getting the right word here)
3. The Acting
I have to say, the acting convinced me. More than the adult actors, the child actors did an amazing job.
4. The Atypical Family
I loved how everyone overcame their differences and bonded very well. A superpower family bonding with the family trying to scam them was heartwarming (you'll understand when you watch it.) I won't go into the details because that has spoilers.
The Underwhelming aspects
1. The Story
As much as I liked the plot, I felt like the script was lacking as the series progressed. Don't get me wrong, from 1-8 episodes I really liked it. 9-11 episodes were emotional, but I felt it a little skippable. 12th episode could have been a little longer. What I am trying to say here is that the 9-11 episodes couldn't grab my interest and attention as much as the first 8 episodes.
2. The Chemistry
The chemistry between the main lead was a bit unsatisfying for me. Not that they lacked chemistry, but after a point, I couldn't connect with them too much. I liked the chemistry between the sisters of the main leads more.
3. The Ending
Usually I like happy endings. But what happened with this? The Ending was good but bland. More like abrupt? It is like that food that tastes good but makes you feel like something more could have made it better.
Overall, this is a good watch and I would recommend everyone to give this a try keeping aside your bias after reading all the reviews.

I thought you were a clever scammer, but you're an idiot...
Me ha gustado mucho este kdrama porque considero que es una historia que no sigue los patrones habituales o al menos cuesta predecir lo que va a pasar. A ver claramente sabes que ambos protagonistas van a estar juntos y que el pavo se va a enamorar de ella y ella de él y que ella querrá dejar su pasado. Pero no se me parece interesante, ver como cambia la familia , la evolución de los personajes y como pese a todas las lineas temporales abiertas en cierto modo se mantiene una coherencia y sentido.Eso si no me hace mucha gracia, la gordofobia que hay con la hermana, que en cierto modo tratan de disimularla pero que una parte de la evolución del personaje sea que se ponga delgada no hace ni puta gracia (por eso no tiene el 10).
El finde semana no será lo mismo sin esperar un capitulo de esta serie.

ODIEI ESSE FINAL. Eu até perdoaria ficar sem explicação de como ele voltou e se o nuri trouxe ele de volta de tivessem colocado a I Na pra ver ele mas não. ERA SÓ CINCO MINUTOS, SÓ ISSO. Tô muito triste de verdade.O drama teve um desenvolvimento muito bom, me apeguei aos personagens golpistas, principalmente ao tio (que é o maior gato, inclusive poderiam ter deixado ele sem engordar pra a dong hee ficar balançada desde o começo, iria ser uma dinâmica interessante e já previa as dorameiras dizendo que queriam um tio igual ele) que sempre teve o coração mole, acho que a redenção da mãe dela foi boa, que se apegou tanto a ela que não era tão ruim como no passado e eles realmente viraram uma família, o drama trata disso né, as relações familiares mas sinto que poderia ter dado uma profundidade maior, tipo a relação delas duas mesmo como foi construída, em base de quê? E a relação do gwi Ju com a irmã, a gente teve um pouco da relação da mãe e do pai dele também, e queria que tivesse tido um pouco mais da relação da ina com o pai também, senti um pouco de falta disso. Outra coisa, como é que só a do da hae enxerga ele no passado? Porque ele conseguiu tocar nas coisas depois? Ele não era feliz? Fiquei encucada sobre isso. Mas que eles eram fofos juntos aaaaaaaaa lindos demais!!!! Amei cada cena deles dois e chorei viu com o filho deles aparecendo 😭
O woo Jin como Jun woo foi tudo pra mim, sou fã desde pequeno e já quero ver ele atuando em mais dramas a medida que cresce, um querido e com a I Na então 🥺🤏🏽

Definitely not typical
June 9, 2024Watching this Kdrama was something I did not expect to continue. To be honest I did not really have a huge expectations for this drama as when it first started the airing, it was kind of the slower end. But I did slowly get hooked to plot as it goes by. Though one thing for sure is that, the chemistry is oozing from the leads. The plot twists are amazing, and it is so uniquely written. There are some parts that I feel like could have been better with plot progression, like the ending feels like its missing something. Maybe instead of 12 episodes, it could have been 14 episodes. Like the details were lacking for the latter half of the series.
But regardless, it was still a fun ride for me. I have mixed feelings regarding this drama but it more on the positive side, thats for sure!

So so good!!!!! this drama had such a good concept and actually was very creative and interesting, something you don’t see much in kdramas nowadays. the superpowers part and stuff wasn’t always super serious but also not too exaggerated either! ofc some things kinda don’t make sense but it’s a DRAMA!! there’s no need to think that much!!this was honestly a masterpiece in terms of entertainment, the main story was very very good but so were the side character stories!! it was never boring in terms of that.
the only “”issue”” i personally had was the romance, i know this is more focused on the whole superpowers and entire family thing but idk it didn’t feel like they actually romantically liked each other??? idk they looked good kissing but it all felt so fast so i didn’t feel anything when they would be together LMAO (probably a me issue)

wonderful drama
I didn't expect to like this drama this much. It has a great cast, VERY unique premise and interesting and complex relationships between the characters. I like how almost all the characters are morally ambiguous - this is an accurate depiction of real life, in which morality isn't black and white, and every hero doesnt wear a cape and isnt perfect. I liked how even the worst characters (Ji-han aside, we all hate him) could develop and become a better person with the help of others. I think the romance left something to be longed for as it mainly focused on the supernatural connection between the two, which is important but i think there couldve been slightly more in terms of textbook romance, however the plot wasnt frustrating and angsty, and that i applaud since watching a romance that turns angsty mid-drama is like living hell on earth. My main qualm with the plot is the gwi-ju dying and then being brought back into present life by his son arc. Although the ending is good, it felt rushed and i often feel frustrations with dramas which spend more time showing the troubles and then once they resolve them, they leave you with five minutes to enjoy them. This drama did just that, only on the penultimate and final episodes, however. I REALLY loved hyeong-tae and grace's characters, they added a light comedy element to the drama whilst also balancing menacing and comforting personas. What i particularly loved was the scene in the penultimate episode, where the three girls essentially collaborate to destroy jihan and put their positions as frenemies aside. I smiled so much when i saw Dong-hee taking grace through the air and the three rejoicing afterwards - it was really heartwarming. I also enjoyed hyeong-taes soft protective gestures, and the way he made sure to keep everyone safe without their knowledge - this was honestly so sweet. I-nas plotline at school was not really of any interest to me and i found it rather boring and generic, but what i did enjoy was her relationship with gwi-ju becoming better, and her finding a mother figure and a friend in da-hae. This drama was a good watch and i would recommend it to others. Shoutout to choi Gwang-rok and ryu abel, i enjoyed their acting the most.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Good Enough
Korean Drama '' The Atypical Family '' is a family fantasy melodrama.The story incorporates a lot of elements and blends them all nicely.
The melodrama was just enough to keep things intense and interesting, the romance was cute and slow burn, the family drama was sweet and dramatic, and the family bonds were strong and worked in the drama's favor.
Also, the fantasy element was well handled and the time travel was smoothly explained and didn't overcomplicate things.
The ending, in addition, was unique, but kind of rushed.
Finally, the performances were all enjoyable by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, eight out of ten.

Non capisco l'hype
Sinceramente non capisco come sia potuto piacere così tanto questo titolo. La storia inizia bene ed è molto intrigante tutta via attraversando le varie puntate si notano sempre di più i difetti di quest'opera che a parer mio non è neanche sufficiente. Sebbene abbia comunque apprezzato la caratteristica peculiare cioè di avere dei poteri, non è così per i personaggi e la storia veramente noiosa e vuota. Potere del ML inutile e senza senso, FL che dovrebbe essere una truffatrice e che casualmente di botto si innamora del protagonista, storia d'amore che tra l'altro non ho nemmeno capito poichè i due non possedevano nessun tipo di chimica e l'innamoramento è completamente forzato. Inoltre a parer mio hanno dato troppo screen time a personaggi che onestamente erano completamente inutili come la sorella del ML. Devo proprio ammettere che l'unica cosa che io abbia apprezzato è stata la figlia del ML e il cambiamento del rapporto del padre che avviene grazie a FL. Devo dire di aver apprezzato anche la situazione familiare di FL e di come riusciranno a riandare d'accordo.
