Jan. 21 ,2024Our Secret Diary is an amazing movie filled with fluff and sweet moments. It might be considered a typical highschool romance movie but this movie is just done well. The execution, the movement of the plot, the pacing, the change of the perspective from the female lead to the male lead. The way the misunderstanding were dragged a bit but it was just amazing when it all came to the conclusion.
This movie has made me put more appreciation and love for Asian movies. As such, this year after finishing Monster, and now this, Our Secret Diary, I feel like I am on a roll with Jmovies.
I have nothing but praise to the directors, the casts, and the other staffs. I did wish we got more scenes after they became official but you know what I will think that the post-credit scene has given the justice that it needs to deliver.
Our Secret Diary has definitely jumped spot as one of my favourite Asian movies of all time. I can assure you that.

Mistaken identity?
What to say about this little film that has not been said many times already? It is a cute high school romcom.Every few years these movies are made for new generations of public: a story about a mousy girl who falls for the most popular guy in school (here it is through letters in a notebook). This one has an added twist since it is obviously an adaptation of the classic Cyrano. The girl thinks that the boy had fallen for her much smarter and prettier friend but since she is not interested in him, the girl decides to continue corresponding with him while pretending to be her friend.
I liked that even though this is a film made recently, there is practically not a single phone in sight: the mobile phone interactions have been brought down to a strict minimum for a change. The communication is often verbal, written and even through songs (I loved the song they used to apologize!). In today's world, where young people seem to have their fingers glued to phone screens, this film is a refreshing change, a throwback to romcoms of about 20 years ago 'complete with an accidental school radio live confession!)
This is nothing earth shatteringly new or particularly original but it is well produced and filmed. The actors are cute and portrayed their characters well, having decent chemistry. Nice watch for a Sunday evening.

Nada melhor que um bom clichê para aquecer o peito
Eu sou a pessoa mais suspeita para comentar sobre, mas não há nada que eu goste mais do que clichês bem feitos, e "Our Secret Diary", cumpre muito bem com isso. Há leveza nas ações da história de maneira que você não sente as horas do filme sendo passadas, ainda mais com a fotografia gostosa que passa bem está "vibe" de juventude. O dilema de uma personagem que quer agradar tanto a todos que parece privar-se também me interessou bastante, ainda mais quando o protagonista masculino, uma beldade convenhamos, parece perceber tal. A troca de mensagens por páginas de um caderno qualquer também me encanta por tamanha fofura, na verdade, não teve um momento do filme que eu não morri de amores. Tudo parecia perfeito para seu propósito, e isso me alegra muito, afinal, fora uma luta para achar tal programa, e se eu odiasse ficaria arrasada!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

this is such a good japanese drama!
This is the first time I have watched a Japanese film and I certainly don't think it will be the last. Because I really enjoy watching Korean drama most of the time, so why don't I try watching Japanese movies. And I can say that I really love it! I will definitely watch more Japanese films/series. This film is not only about love, but they also show the love between friends and family.First of all, I'm so touched that the female lead has a misunderstanding between her friends, but in the end they try to resolve it because they say sorry to each other and it shows that they value their friendship. Secondly, the male protagonist struggles between choosing his sport or caring for his grandmother and younger sister. He wants to give up football just to take care of his grandmother. And it shows that the male lead really has love and care for his family. And lastly, the love between the female lead and the male lead was so cutee. Because of their love, they really can't stop themselves from continuing to write in the notebook. Even when they both knew something was wrong, they continued to write in it. I'm more in favor of kpop songs than rock music, but in the Japanese drama I didn't mind the rock music that much.
Their chemistry is so fantastic. I really like it. The female lead is so cute and beautiful and the male lead is so handsome, especially when he smiles. Which spoils their plot. I didn't know you can like someone without knowing them. he fell in love because she wrote a motivation on that desk. But at the end of the story, I understand why the male protagonist loves her, because she gives him the motivation to follow what he wants to do. That was it. I give this Japanese drama a 7 out of 10! :)

Although the genre (high school romance) isn't really my favorite (on the one hand, I'm probably too old for it, LOL; and on the other hand, my favorite genres are rather comedy, iyashikei, horror, mystery, etc.), nevertheless I actually liked this lil' movie that definitely managed to exceed my expectations: the story is clean, straight-forward and nice, the leads are both very good and so is the "packaging" (directing, editing, photography, music,...).
Totally solid 8/10!

Life Note
Une petite review pour un film très feel good et donc très nécessaire pour 2024, si vous ne l'avez pas encore vu en 2023. Avec les plateformes, il est devenu tellement plus simple et légal de voir les adaptations en live action de shojo. Et celui-ci est particulièrement réussi. Sakurada Hiyori colle toujours bien à ses personnages d'ados ou post-ados en difficulté de communication. Même si, ici, c'est l'amour qui la fait bafouer. Très juste et touchante dans son interprétation, nul doute que la cible de cette œuvre arrivera grandement à s’identifier. Takahashi Fumiya est lui-même touchant, même s'il commence à être un peu à côté de son âge supposé pour le rôle. Alors que Hiyori-chan paraîtra encore quelques années avoir 16 ans, lui, doit faire un effort supplémentaire dans son jeu pour en paraître 17 et il y parvient bien mieux que Sota Ryosuke qui en avait 24 durant le tournage du film. Mais étant assez bons acteurs tous les deux, avec un Takahashi Fumiya bien meilleur et sensible que dans Fermat Ryouri tout cela passe parfaitement. Sans dévoiler l'intrigue on vibre avec ces ados qui vivent leurs premiers émois, même si la relation avec Hiyori-chan et son senpai en classe de 2de peut un peu faire froid dans le dos par le jeu de psychopathe délivré ici. Tout est classique dans cette année très School Life. Les examens, les fiches d'orientation, la litre de déclaration et le journal intime toujours très utilisé par les ados japonais nous rappellent qu'on est dans un Shojo. Mais un très bon, à hautement recommander pour ceux qui veulent une histoire assez réaliste et bien réalisée. Pas de réels méchants et peu d'enjeux dramatiques ici, mais un film qui donne encore un peu plus envie de vivre comme un ados au japon à nos ados d'ici. Attention, le film comporte quand même quelques éléments de pression scolaire qui pourraient choquer nos élèves les plus sensibles au travail à fournir.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
A Perfect Young Adult Romance Movie
the chemistry b/w the leads was really good.I love an angsty storyline and it was done perfectly without going overboard.I did not dislike a single character in this movie like I did not expect Nozomi's ex to also be a good guy like what?? I just sometimes got irritated by the female lead but I gradually understood why she is like this but I would've liked it if they would've showed a little backstory kind of thing like they mentioned Setoyama's. But nonetheless,a must watch movie for sure!___

Simple yet beautiful
It's such a cute movie. The storyline is simple yet beautiful.Acting/ Casting:
Honestly, I watched this movie solely for Fumiya Takahashi. I discovered him on TikTok and fell in love with his smile and dubbing videos of anime. He looks so charming in them. I wanted to learn more about him, which is why I decided to give one of his projects a chance. And he didn't disappoint me. In fact, I fell in love with the entire cast. All of them performed exceptionally well.
Music:
I didn't focus much on the music. It had slightly background music. The songs they used fit everywhere. The songs made the movie interesting.
Rewatch Value:
I'm not one to rewatch dramas, but this one is exceptional. I will definitely watch it again.

Really cute movie
I really enjoyed watching it is kind of predictable but it is worth watching. I kind of cried watching it but of happiness. I really really recommend watching it! My favorite Japanese movie so far ! A cute and simple high school love story.
Although I have been watching NE Asian dramas for a long time, and therefore have seen this exact theme many times before, I will forever eat it up in jmovies. Idc if it's overused or whatnot- it's fun to watch and a great time pass. I could see this movie being a good comfort movie because it's nothing too complex, yet not boring or badly written either.I must mention Takahashi Fumiya's acting was better than I expected. He's very capable of expressing Setoyama's subtle emotions like the little smirks or the hints of worry which was very impressive, especially after finding out he's only 23 years old. I'd love to see him in more romance movies or dramas.

Honestly, this one was average at best. It's like a typical romance that I often see in some novels or dramas. The storyline is nothing special to me. I just like the youthful feeling it gives and I guess the cast? They're cute.The storyline, on the other hand, contains no complicated plot. There may be a second male lead, but after getting rejected, he was like "Okay. Bye bye, Good luck." Also! I know the male lead is characterized as straightforward, but he really should learn how to say it nicely. Though he apologized for it, what he said hurt (really). Anyway, overall, it's a good movie I think (though it does not belong to one of my favorites), especially when you are in the mood for a not-so-complex plot, like you just want to see something romantic for a moment. Also! One good thing about it is that it's pretty much a story that flows naturally, so it does not feel rushed that much.
