Why, Khen, why?Why did Mas have to keep calling your name in that irritating tone?
Why did you go back to the past and leave your computer? The internet was not invented, so what would you see? Where would you get connectivity? Why, did your battery last that long?
Why after showing how the story began, did you not recognize Mas as the boy in the library when you went back to the past?
Why was a ghost allowed to have sex with a human? If a maid had entered during the deed, what would she actually see?
Why did Khampaun refuse her husband before she found out about his lust for Sompho? Why did she blame Sompho and not the husband? Taking it out on the unwilling mistress never ends well?
Why was it important for Sompho to have her story told? Did it bring any meaning to their story?
Why was the repetition of Mas back story necessary when it did nothing to enhance the story?
Why did Mas ask Ken to bring the box during the party and openly speak to him? Wouldn't he appear to be mental laughing and speaking to himself? Especially in the age when cell phones and earpieces have not been invented as yet?
Why did the girl next to him not notice?
Why when all realised that they were dead, why did they have to meet in the dry bush before beginning their journey? Why didn't they go to collect him? Like "Bro, you're dead. Let's go?"
Why was Mas filming on the computer about his home when the info would have corroded with time if it's not preserved? Again, why would the computer exist in time travel?
Why (humor me) would Khen carry Mas to the future if he wasn't a ghost to time travel?
Why show the ending with their meeting but start the beginning with the death with a whole lot of disconnected fillers to elongate the story leading nowhere?
Why was a story with such promise end up being so nonsensical?
Why didn't the screenwriter and director have a chat with those from IFYLITA to see how it's done?
Why was Mas' acting so bad?
Why did I waste my time hoping that it would get better?

Hunting House BL
Firstly, I must confess that I have a deeply irrational love for haunted house stories. There’s just something about creaky floorboards, ominous whispers, and the ever-present threat of being sucked into an evil mirror that fills my heart with joy. So, naturally, when I heard about a haunted house BL, I thought, “Well, this is clearly designed specifically for me!” Sadly, it turned out to be less of a custom-made masterpiece and more like a pair of ill-fitting shoes—full of potential, but ultimately just uncomfortable.Acting
Now, I’ve seen a fair share of questionable acting in my time, especially from fresh-faced newbies who look like they’ve just wandered off the street and onto a set. So, to be fair, the acting here wasn’t bad per se. But it was, shall we say, thoroughly bland. Imagine a sandwich made with two pieces of plain white bread and nothing in between. That’s the kind of "meh" we’re talking about here. The whole cast had the energy of someone who just woke up from a nap and can’t quite remember what they’re supposed to be doing. A more experienced cast might have brought a bit more life into the haunted halls, or at least a little more fear into their eyes.
As for the lead chemistry, well… it was the sort of relationship where you could almost hear the background music urging you to believe in their connection, but deep down you knew they’d probably forget each other’s names in a week. Nothing particularly memorable to write home about.
Story
The story, on the other hand, was the sole reason I stuck with this show until the end. Mystery, thriller, horror—it had all the right ingredients. There were some genuinely interesting twists and turns that, at times, made me sit up and think, “Ah! A plot!” But the problem was in the execution, which was about as smooth as trying to ice skate on sand.
The director, bless his heart, was clearly a newbie, and I’m not entirely sure he knew how storytelling works—especially when trying to juggle so many genres. It felt like he had a box full of puzzle pieces, but none of them quite fit together. The pacing was, to put it kindly, chaotic. He couldn’t quite figure out how to build tension or momentum, which, for a horror/thriller, is a bit of a problem.
To sum it up, the story was the only saving grace for this drama, but the execution? A glorious mess. With the right director and a cast that knew how to express something beyond mild confusion, this could have been something truly special. As it stands, it’s more like a haunted house where the only thing scary is how much better it could have been.

I’m sorry. But I just can’t with this. I can’t. I can’t deal.If I had a coin for every time I wanted to DNF this series I'd have a thousand coins in my jar! Needless to say I didn't like it at all.
I really cannot relate. It didn't grab me like I expected.
What I liked:
It' was a good concept. The darklyaspect. The first episode was well done, I was hooked and I was intrigued. The characters were fun + the overall vibe was mystery.
However there were some things that just did not work out.
The story overall was very slow, boring and confusing.
Story started to lose itself in the first half everything got so messy and the thing just lost their charm which overall dulled my experience.
The characters and their back and forth with the settings proved to be more of an hindrance. I tried to like Khen and Mas but all the attachment that I felt to them and the story vanished into thin air.
Overall, it may work for some of you but it definitely was not for me.

This review aimed at folks deciding whether to watch or not. (Yes. Yes, you should. Worth it.)
The Hidden Moon is a macabre suspense thriller with a BL twist. The series mostly works. Early episodes shroud the story with supernatural elements that deliver a sense of foreboding. A palpable dread permeates the characters' interactions. Mysteries emerge that require sleuthing by our protagonists. Some of these unknowns pertain to Real World events while others transcend reality to seemingly touch upon ethereal planes. The series even broaches the Big Mystery: what happens when a person dies? Amidst all the paranormal uncertainty, a BL romance struggles to emerge. That subplot is almost an afterthought, however, as this series is a suspense thriller first; a romance, only to change pace between supernatural set pieces. That de-emphasis of the BL plot will disappoint viewers interested primarily in MM courtship. Their loss. If the idea of a slow-burn spooky ghost story appeals, the ten hours of The Hidden Moon will be worth the time to watch. If such fare is not your cup of tea, then you don't need to know the twisty turns anyway.The writer of reviews must choose betweeen two variants of the form. One style pitches the text toward readers who have seen the material and cannot therefore be spoiled (full disclosures with double-barrel critiques). The alternative aims to reach those readers seeking out the review to help them decide whether to start watching. This group can be spoiled, so the reviewer should be circumspect (strategically withholding details and pulling punches in the criticism). To preserve the sense of macabre, to maintain the air of suspense, and to preserve potential thrills, this review will pursue the latter path. The production team behind The Hidden Moon mostly got right the macabre, the suspense, and the thrills. They do not deserve to have that effort undermined by a comprehensive debrief of every strength and weakness. So, this review will risk vagueness by imparting fewer details than customary. Indeed, I encourage anyone deciding whether to watch to avoid investigating specifics. The less you know about this one, the more you will enjoy it. With that disclaimer, onward with my purposefully vague critique.
The series opens with five young people arriving at an Obligatory Old House. An Old House with a reputation. An Old House that may be haunted. They have come to investigate these rumors. Before the first episode ends, the group begins to experience unexplained events themselves. (That's five time-worn tropes already! Happily, none of them is a BL trope!) Over the next several episodes, the team tries to uncover explanations for the unusual goings-on. The pacing proves uneven. Not all episodes are equally spooky. A couple in the middle really drag. Arguably, the early episodes suffer from a bad case of writers trying to create mystery by simply not explaining anything. That tactic led to characters confused and frustrated with their situation. This reviewer suspects many viewers will share that sentiment. Hooking the audience with juicy details might have been a better strategy. Unexplained phenomena may rightfully vex characters, but they alienate viewers when dragged through too many consecutive episodes. Fortunately, viewers who stick with the series will be rewarded. Three strengths save the series from the reliance on hoary tropes and the problems with pacing.
First, the technical arts creative team (cinematography, direction, lighting, editing, music) understood their assignment. Overcoming gaps in story logic, the vibe remains consistently tense--brooding and unsettled. The sense of macabre persists during the slow episodes, so that when the story recovers vigor, the suspense has never descended into farce or hokiness. Few viewers of The Hidden Moon will ever nominate the series as an exemplar of the macabre suspense thriller genre's best. But it is absolutely solid work.
Second, later episodes grow stronger. They deliver cogent story beats, unexpected twists, and better interactions among the characters. When the payoffs arrive from those unexplained mysteries of the early episodes, they prove worthwhile. Episodes 8-9 (penultimate) stand out in particular.
Third, the series has a time travel element unusual in the suspense genre. One member of the Thai Scooby Gang experiences paranormal weirdness in two timestreams. For unknown reasons, Khen is shifting between the past and present of the Obligatory Old House. In both timelines, an angry female specter targets him for special attention with the kind of ghostly violence that threatens Khen's life. Fortunately, one denizen of the 1910s timeline is able to intervene on his behalf. Mas is the handsome son of the homeowner. As Mas and the strange visitor from "another world" grow better acquainted, bonds of affection grow between them.
The dynamic between the two young men, separated in time by about a century, provides the BL storyline. Perhaps during episodes 6-7 the macabre even takes a backseat to the courtship. Nevertheless, the BL story remains mostly threadbare. The two would-be lovers, after all, recognize that living in two different worlds poses an insurmountable challenge to their future prospects. And veteran viewers of K-drama and BL alike are surely aware that ghost-human romance has little chance of achieving a happy ending. An undercurrent of "why bother?" haunts the scenes where Mas and Khen deepen their emotional bonds. Young love, inevitably, will persist against all admitted logic. And so it is with Khen and Mas. The BL tale adds some emotional heft to The Hidden Moon's endgame, and it is the duo's interaction that will restore balance to each universe. BL viewers who endure the suspense and supernatural shenanigans in the hopes of a romantic denoument suffused with happy endorphins will see their patience rewarded. Kind of. I'd say more...but spoilers.
In closing, The Hidden Moon isn't primarily a BL series. Rather, it is a supernatural thriller that tossed in a BL romance. Substitute a straight romance, and the underlying tale of macabre would require no alteration. In the final analysis, I'd argue that the series succeeds as a thriller even more than it succeeds as a romance. Full credit to the production team for that success, for I do not belive they worked from a lavish budget. But they deployed their resources wisely, resulting in a finished product that may well be an instance where the whole surpassed the sum of its parts. It is not a great series, but it is certainly very good. It is worth the ten-hour investment of your time to watch.

All Of Us Are Dead
Okay, what kind of dead was that? My man was eating, sleeping, doing the devils tango, solving mysterious, sending emails, going to the effing library to read?? huh? Bish is you dead or not? Also, how he got such good internet connection from the past? But like, this was me throughout 79% of the drama going: Is he dead? He's dead isn't he? Wait, which one of you is dead? Ahmmm, can dead people get on their knees and do that with their mouths? Literally, are you dead dead or like on a try run? Boy you knew he was dead the whole time and still... damn, if only that river could talk!Okay, so can someone explain to me how ghost mechanics work in this reality? Cuz Mas seemed fine with everything the two were doing, and then suddenly he was sick? Also the dead guy needed sleeping pills to travel to the past? I am confused, how could he get to the past? Is that a ghost thing? And did the writers forget to hint out the 'sucking of life force' thing if they stayed close together, cuz shoving that into the last two episodes was not it. I was like, hmmm, since when? They'd been kissing and doing stuff and he seemed fine, my man even asked for seconds. I wish we had hints thoughout, would have made more sense. Or did we, and I didn't notice?
To be frank, I legit thought Mas was the dead one for a good amount of time, and then I was like... wait a minute... they can't leave the town/house, Khen is making goggly eyes at that ancient grandpa in his youth. Either they've time-traveled, or like bishes are dead. So like, this was a time-travel/ghost story right? Cuz Mas even visited the future ones. How the hell did he do that when he wasn't even dead. Nope, not gonna question that, don't want no headache.
Listen, I already did the confusion, what the hell is going on thing in 4Minutes, so my arse was ready to give up on this drama like half way through episode 2. But, then, I stayed, cuz for some reason, my brain decided it wanted to watch something scary, although I rush to sped it up whenever creepy music starts playing. Yes, it was slow pace, the acting, well, and story was all over the place, but I stayed, showed up every week, and I wasn't disappointed. I cried, when they finally revealed that the friends all died in the accident. When the two heard footsteps and then found the rescue team and their bodies, I had to put it on pause to get it together. And Khen losing it, when he finally realised was even more emotional. The last few episodes made me reach for the tissues.
Plot:
Flat out confusing, and if you look closely, lots of holes and stuff that makes no sense. It was slow building, could bore some people, and sometimes felt like it was going nowhere. But, I actually enjoyed it. It gave me a sort of 'The Others' vibe, and I really enjoyed watching it. I kept waiting for Khen to figure out his situation or for Mas to tell him, although I knew it was going to be sad when he does. I also like how they gave us a side story with Khampuan and Sompho. At first I was like meh, but then it got really interesting with the reveal and everything. So yeah, interesting concept, but could have been delivered better.
Characters
I liked Mas and Khen. Yes, the actors are new, and the acting was noticeable, especially in a serious drama like this one. But, it still didn't take away from me enjoying the characters. I liked them as a pair, and none of them annoyed me, so that was a win for me. I also loved the two females' storyline, they did great and added to the drama as whole. As for the friend group, and the rest, they felt like background prop. At one point I went: if that one friend don't stop calling out 'Khen' every two seconds, imma riot.
The Finale:
Mas' mother showed up. Me: woman, didn't you evaporated last episode? I thought yous moved on. Ghost in this drama just keep doing whatever they want. That being said, I want one more episode where everything is happy happy. Cuz you telling me they could have met and fallen in love in Khen's time, but they miss each other and Khen left for that work and died?? So they don't get to be together in two lifetimes :(((( why? why writers, what did I do to you?? When Mas woke up and Khen had already moved on, I wanted to cry. Leaving behind that cherry blossom just hurt. I need a second season where they get reborn and get their happily ever after.
And was that baby Khen? So like... Mas' gonna act like a father for him or a godfather? See, we need 1 or 20 more episodes. That being said, I liked what we got in the finale. Loved how the friends waited for Khen so they could move on together. It was sad, but it couldn't have been done any way else, the whole premise of the story was one of them being a ghost. So, I am fine with the ending, I went more, but I accept this one.
All-all-in a good watch. Some things could have been done better, and many would find the slow pace boring, but I personally enjoyed it, so I'd recommend to anyone looking for a ghost and human from the past fallen in love story. I'm looking forward to seeing more from the leads. Give it a watch if you have time.

Eu amo séries de suspense, mas devo admitir que essa não foi das melhores.
Primeiro, a série ficou muito bagunçada.
A história é interessante, mas a forma como é contada carece de coerência. As cenas nem sempre são muito claras. Não é que seja complicado, mas é um pouco confuso.
É perceptível que até os atores parecem um pouco perdidos em algumas cenas. A sensação que fica, na minha opinião, é que parece que estamos assistindo ao rascunho do que poderia ser uma boa série.
Os efeitos especiais são muito baratos, o que não ajuda, e as transições entre as cenas também deixam a desejar.
O último episódio é muito melhor, alguns por menores de edição, mas "tá valendo" teria sido interessante se toda a série tivesse a mesma qualidade. Tem outros pontos que poderia elucidar, mas vou deixar por aqui mesmo!

Series too messy
The story is interesting, but the way it’s told lacks coherence. The scenes aren’t always very clear. It’s not that it’s complicated, but it’s a bit confusing. Even the actors seem a bit lost at times. It feels like we’re watching the draft of what could be a grood series.The special effects are really cheap, which doesn’t help.
The last episode is much better. I wish the rest of the series had been of the same quality.

a tragic story of incredible potential
there are a lot of factors that go into developing and producing a series, and i think the most important thing to remember is that the studio that opted to create this series is not very large to begin with. because of this, and likely a lot of struggles to finance and cast the roles, i'm being a bit more lenient for both my rating and review.to address the main concern: the acting. i think that david did a lot of the heavy lifting here, despite being a rookie with still a journey left ahead for him in terms of presenting a story. kinn was stiff to the point it made the set look cheaper and his interpretation to seem disinterested at times. i can't judge too harshly, as i am not an actor myself, but it does give me pause that the director, casting director, scriptwriter, and the team just went with this despite all that. i would've loved to see david work with someone experienced or that he had a partner that could help him immerse himself into the role better.
acting aside, the sets were interesting, but it all felt very boxed in. regardless of where the scenes took place, it felt very much like a "closed in" experience, where you don't really get a picture for the entire situation going on. you could say it made the series feel like it took place inside of a dollhouse. it could've been used to their advantage and portray a creepier space, but it just felt weird instead.
in terms of the story itself, i was still confused about what the ending meant. i wasn't sure how in the future there's a video, when matthew's family couldn't see khen so how could they be recorded? is the future just a loop now? was everything "fixed"? and had khen already met matthew in his timeline and had just never known it? i might have to pick up the book instead and read it, but i hope we can get more series from Violet Rain, their stories truly have the potential to change how media adaptations of queer novels are approached. i am particularly fond of the focus on historic/past thailand timelines.
overall, the series is not the best, and part of it is likely a failed budget, but i still think it deserves a watch.

What I Liked
- intriguing premise with mystery/horror/supernatural elements
- at least they asked why the ghost sensitive one wasn't seeing them
- sweet moments especially in episode 6
- supportive mom
- some of the production value* (the off key music at the end and then the music at the end was especially fitting)
Room For Improvement
- *choppy at times (even in the uncut version it felt a little choppy)
- confusing and slow plot
- Khen and a friend had several moments that made me ship them which was especially bad because the other ML wasn't introduced until the very end of ep 1 (this was less an issue in the cut version)
- odd that a character went from trying to kill another character to suddenly liking him and then back to hating him, did not feel chemistry between the leads
- did not care at all about the drama in the past and it was confusing because a character made it sound like she didn't want something but then she seemed to want that when she talked to her friend later
- I was going to give this a 7 but the very confusing/rushed finale/dead fish lip press dropped it to a 5 (the uncut adds 9 minutes at the end but it basically shows Mas and Khen almost meeting and how Khen was recruited to join the rest of the group and go to that house, they aren't together
- the idea that Mas would watch reincarnated Khen grow up and then get together with him when he was 40 and Khen was 20 was icky (this is how the cut version ended)
Episode 1 cut ~43 minutes vs uncut ~57 minutes (the removal of the following scenes may have added to choppiness but it was good to have less romance coded moments between Khen and another character and that they reduced the sing-along)
- parts 1 & 4 didn't notice any changes
- beginning of part 2 they cut a scene when they are back at the house, a brief group conversation, then Khen brings sweets and chats with the housekeeper
- in part 2 they cut a scene where the group is by a river, a character tells Khen that he senses a spirit hanging around him and then a library scene where Khen is trying to find additional info about the house, later cut out them doing additional research
- in the beginning of part 3 they cut down some of the singing/camping stuff

Confusing
The story is so confusing so far. I think I get the basic idea that Khen from the present day is in love with Mas from the past, but other than that, every episode is just confusing. The actors don't seem to be really feeling the emotions of the story either. When they're trying to show love or fear, it all comes across as really shallow. Twisted but simple plot
Before the series end i would like to add who much infatuated i was see how much mas love khen...mas knew it from the beginning that khen is spirit but don't want to hurt him by by saying the truth he choose to suffer the health issue rather than hurting khen ❤ they really love each other alot ? even if I have a hunch they are not going to have a happy ending together but I like their story a lot twisted but simple ❤❤Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
