Im in LOVE with this show

Everything from the acting to the plot is amazing! Also the friggin intro is a bop.

I love the way they can make a show seem lighthearted and start it out with the viewers watching in the perspective of a dating show and then switching it up.

All the deep trauma and societal problems get uprooted as you go, but it still keeps it's comedic side which I loved!

Other than that. EVERY character in the gameshow is likeable and understandable. I like that there is no clear "villian". Some would argue it's Chanel's mom, but I don't think so.

Also let me not start talking about Almond. His character is so interesting! Although some people might dislike his character, I simply feel bad for him. He had acted as a bigger brother all his life and all he wants to do is protect his brothers from what they don't know. I mean, he is wrong in his assumptions, he's very brainwashedđŸ„Č

I ALSO LOVE THE CAMERAWORK! That one scene in episode 2 (I think) when Day yells "no" and it zoomes out, and then Son catches the camera, smirks and throws it back so it hits her. That was the funniest thing ever, very creative.

(Bonus, oml, Son with braids in the last episode killed me (in a good way), but Son in a wig was even better haha)

WOW
 just WOW

I knew I would enjoy the show as my friend recommended it to me but this has got to be one of my favorite shows. Literally everything was done so well. Most people have the misconception that due to the lack of episodes, it would have poor execution but 6 episodes is perfect. The concept and plot of the show is just amazing and the romance and politics are just so well done. I also love how the show shows so many different types of relationships and dynamics. I’m absolutely in love with this show. It was so enjoyable and it was silly and not too serious. Also the ost was great and I’ll keep listening to it

Better than expected.

Some things a bit overboard, some things a bit too convenient, some things/characters too predictable, and it's definitely not some profound dystopian drama. But it definitely scratched the surface and had quite some nice starting points worth thinking about IF something like that would ever happen. How would women rule the world, what about birth rate and birth control, how to secure mankind's survival, etc.

It's probably just me taking attention to that, but even though it was maybe just randomly put into the story, it's actually quite logical that waaaaay more female relationships would exist in that environment and feel soooo normal. I hope, you know, what I mean. Another normal than what we have in our sociaty right now (where's still fighting for acceptance in many parts of the world).

Though I'm almost sure they wouldn't "sell" men like that if they are that valuable to the world.

The setting kind of resembled Squid Game, only without the death threat. I quite enjoyed the games, they really put some thoughts into those. Also, nice music and such beautiful shots here and there <3

And I was totally surprised by the good acting of the whole cast. I was esp. fond of the supposed evil SFL. I liked her performance, her facial expressions and gestures quite a lot.
I also liked the main couple, but I hated the hairspray hairstyle of the ML and his overly careful way of running his hand "through" his hair, lol.

Overall, a somewhat basic stereotype kind of character setting, but they still put together a really enjoyable story with only 8 episodes and even left room for a 2nd maybe deeper season. I would totally go for that since there's a lot more to tell about just everything. Potential's there. Hope, they use it wisely if they decide to it.

Ready, Set, Go watch this !!

I decided to watch this because I saw it on Netflix and it looked fun. Everything you expect from the trailers and promo is what you get! More than that, there is a deeper story beneath that.

For what this show is I found it to be really fun. It’s a reality-game-show and whoever wins comes out with a husband. The idea is, all the men are dwindling down so it’s a huge event for this show to take place every year. Think hunger-games or squid games, but less dying and more fun and men.

To me, this drama excels beyond that main premise. I found myself staying entertained through the whole run, and I think that’s due to several things. The story is great and it doesn’t take itself too seriously with the melodramatic parts. In fact, it is so camp. It’s fun and colorful and funny also. The acting is amazing and everyone fits their role and is funny without being cringe. I loved Day, she was my favorite and is a female lead written so well. She’s fun, she’s got backbone, and she’s unapologetically herself. Lots of emphasis on the fun, she’s just great.

I love the sets and the colorful appeal, it’s got a certain style that’s sort of whimsical but carefully crafted to fit the game show appeal. Overall this drama exceeds what I thought it was and came together to be a very fun and entertaining watch. Enough so that I’d love a season 2!

Squid Game x Single’s Inferno

This is definitely one of the most well-produced Thai shows ever. The CGI, the editing, everything. It was so well-done. The camera work was amazing. Some of the shots were oddly close to the face, but overall it was so pretty.

It felt like a light-hearted squid game as a dating show. Personally, I loved it.
Similarities to Squid Game:
- colorful
- parallel plot w game and what’s going behind the scenes
- policeman type role

This show was such a fun watch. The plot was very well-done, and the characters were so loveable. Even the second female leads were so nice when they’re usually made to be a bitch, which was nice for a change.

Sun is so fuckkng hot. Like, I actually cannot comprehend how handsome he is. Nobody can convince me that man is Thai because he looks hella Korean or some shit. He’s so fine it hurts to look at him sometimes.

Val is definitely one of my fav side characters. She was such a badass. Her vibe was giving girl crush.

** major spoiler section **

So, I guess they could have a season 2 of this, but, honestly, I feel satisfied with the ending they gave in this one. If they were to have another season, I’m guessing the Farm would be after their son, so they have to get rid of it once and for all.

"Ready, Set, Love" is the most unusual and worth-watching Thai series in February!!

"Ready, Set, Love" is a romantic-comedy series exclusively available on Netflix. The story is about an epidemic outbreak that affects only males which makes the number of men in the country almost non – existent. Consequently, a facility called “The farm” is established by the government to gather all the remaining men and take care of them. Once the men at the farm reach adulthood, they are referred to as "gentlemen" and participate in a variety show where women compete for the opportunity to date and marry the man they like.
For me, e me, who isn't typically a fan of Thai TV series, “Ready, Set, Love” stands out due to its concept, which is rarely seen in Thailand’s drama series industry.
Promotion
“Ready, Set, Love” was released on February 15th, which is during Valentine’s day. People are enjoying the month of love and this series is about dating that attracts people to watch this series. They promoted it by allowing some viewers to flirt with the male actors. And also following various trends in creating content on online platforms. This increases the desire’s people to watch it, including myself, who watches this series because of the promotion activities.
Concept
The variety show in the series has a concept similar to "Squid Game" , a highly popular series. Despite these similarities, this aspect makes the series even more interesting for Thai’s series industry. With staff members wearing cartoon masks and an AI serving as the show's host, the series takes on a uniquely exotic quality.
Production
I truly admire the production team; they really made it. From the scene design to the realistic CGI and the investment in real locations, it's all commendable. Additionally, the color tone is colorful, such as the gentleman, they have their own distinct color palette, which fits them well and makes the series even more enjoyable. The soundtrack is also fantastic. One song I especially like is ‘Beyond the wall’ , which was made specifically for this series. For me, I think this song reflects on men who have been living in a place created by the government since birth. Even though everything seems to be provided for, they have never met their real family. Wouldn't it be better if they could escape beyond the wall and live a life of their own choosing, rather than one dictated by others.
The storylines
For the story, I admired how the issues in Thai society are portrayed. If you only watch the teaser, it only focuses on the love story of men and women. However, after watching it, I realized it also includes the love story of LGBTQ, which the actor performed smoothly and without interruption, which really impressed me. In addition to the love story, there are also political issues. Including the government that pleases and benefits only the elite. And it also contains the truth of the world. Furthermore, the actors performed well, including new actors whom I had never seen before, but their performances were excellent, the chemistry of the main couple is very good. All of the characters are unique and have their own stories. For example, “Chanel” who initially appears to be the villain of the story, but the way she does because of her family. And in the end, she turns over a new leaf, which makes the audience feel sympathy for her. However, there are some scenes that seem to not make sense and leaves me feeling dissatisfied. For example in the scene of the Snakes and Ladders Game, the leading man passes the game easily while others struggle, So I felt like it’s too unfair. Additionally, some scenes are intended to be funny but it isn't that enjoyable. Also, the plot development is good in the beginning, but in the near-end part, it progresses too quickly, which also leaves me feeling dissatisfied. (For me, this series, if you watch this series for entertainment, you shouldn’t take it too seriously.)
Overall
I would say that I’m impressed by this series. Both the concept and production were great, and the high quality actors. And for the story, I hope the next season will come out and be even better. But overall, it is excellent, and I would recommend others to watch this series.

It was fun but could've been so much more

The production values were incredible and especially impressive for a Thai series, the leads were all eye candy and some of them could actually act (especially Paper, Almond, Chanel and Bovy), some of the games were fun. But there were so many missed opportunities to make this show deeper and more interesting.

The premise is that most of the men in the world die off and the ones who remain become a commodity to exploit. What happens when men are out of the way and women are the ruling class - are they really interested in solving the problem of male births or do they actively suppress knowledge that would fix the birthrate in order to secure their power? How are the men treated in the marriages, is it similar to how women are treated in patriarchal societies where they are abused and have no freedom? What is it like when men are forced to breed (this is kinda sorta touched on with Paper but the full implications of that aren't explored).

Don't get me wrong, this show is a very fun binge and I enjoyed it, just felt let down when I saw the potential it had to be so much more.

Fast, Fun, and Full of Surprising Characters

From the trailer and promo images, you would think this was a bit of comedy fluff but it's actually a dystopian thriller full of character development disguised as a rom-com.

The story is simple on the surface: for some reason there are hardly any men in the world, so the government gathered them all into a place called The Farm and basically raffles a few off every year through a reality competition show called Ready, Set, Love. Our leads are all involved in this show as competitors and production staff, and it becomes clear very quickly that the game is not only rigged, but also hiding some really, really dark truths.

In the middle of this game we have our leads, Day and Son, who trace the path of dislike to friendship to love quickly but with real sweetness. There's several drama tropes thrown at them, but the actors and the story make it all work in an adorable fashion.

Alongside Day we have her best friend, Va, who is working on the show with an ulterior motive. I loved her character and her family's story, sad as it was. Day also deals with two rival competitors, Chanel and Bovy. These two are great - just when I was worried they'd become the typical villainess and airhead friend, they surprised me with complexity and emotional depth. Chanel's story was, to me, especially touching and I was so glad when she got to make her own choice and thrilled by the decision she went with.

Son's friends are the other men who are the prizes in the game show, and three of them (Paper, Almond, and Max) have really interesting stories of their own. It's impossible to praise them much more without major spoilers, but each one had a personal journey that was well written and acted. They each broke my heart a little and their brotherhood was lovely.

My favourite character, though, was Jenny. She's the show runner for the reality game and her story, her relationship with her wife, and her choices throughout the series had me completely entranced. I love, love, love Jenny.

There production values of the show were insane - particularly the reality show competition elements, which were so elaborate. I don't watch that kind of show so I found some of those sequences kind of bizarre, but I appreciated them in how the showcased the characters. I am also new to Thai dramas, so the occasional exaggerated acting was jarring for me but it wasn't too frequent.

I will happily rewatch this show in the future, presumably ahead of the second season that was teased in a little mid-credit scene.

colorful show, bleak reality

If I was to describe this series, I would say it's similar to Squid Games but instead of a survival game, it's a silly dating game show. Instead of dying, you just don't get to find love with a guy. Heck, this series even have an undercover/spy character trying to expose the secrets of the game and at some point, ends up in a situation that is similar to the cop in Squid Games. It's a very fun series. Lots of comedic moments, but it's not shallow at all. There is some depth as it deals with family, being sincere, and striving to create a better life.

-------------------------------------------
● SHORT REVIEW
-------------------------------------------

LIKES:
--A lot of the characters are likable, both Gentlemen and Ladies. I think my favorite character was Chanel and her development throughout. There was a lot of depth to her character that I liked.
--Love the style of editing/production. Some fun camera work/play (an example is episode 3, when Day finds out she is going to be on Son's team. Day pushing cam away and Son throwing it back). Enjoy the bright vivid colors
--Lots of fun silly moments but also heartfelt and emotional moments as well.
--LGBTQ+ representation is nice to see, especially gay male relationship in a world where men are scarce.

DISLIKES:
--I was still left with a lot of holes and questions about this universe. Given the length of the series, it's understandable we can't cover everything and answer every plot hole, but I still felt the birthrate disease, the story of the previously existing men, and this world could be explored more.

-------------------------------------------
● IN-DEPT REVIEW
-------------------------------------------

[ --STORY/PLOT-- ]

The series shows us a very fun and colorful world on the surface, but it's a lot darker than it appears. Beyond the exterior, beyond the surface, beyond the pretenses, reality is not what it seems. We have men being rounded up under the pretense of protecting them, but it's merely a way for the rich and powerful to control their supply. We have what seems to be fun and silly dating gameshow, but it only exists to mask corruption, very Hunger Game-ish in that respect. It's a world full of fakeness, pretenses, and happy bright colors to hide a sadder reality. Baby boys are separated from their family and raised in a bubble. When they are old enough, they are treated a merely a commodity for women. Those that dare fight the system are imprisoned. But there is hope. There is resistant group exists call City Ground. It's a place where men can live freely with their family. One thing I liked was that, in contrast to the artificialness of The Farm/The Family, City Ground's vibe felt more natural.

I also love the characters in this series, as well as their relationships with other characters whether it's romantic or friendship. Initially, several of the characters put up pretenses. Son, acted very cool and aloof. Max appears shallow and competitive. Day was trying to say the right things so she could win. Chanel appears fierce and cold. However, as the series progress, we begin to see their true natures. There are a lot of genuine and sincere heart to heart conversations between the characters. Even main characters that seem antagonists, we are given enough development with them that we can understand why the make the decisions they did. I think, at the end, the only true antagonists are the rich powerful women who control the world like Chanel's mom.

[ --ACTING/CAST-- ]

Not much to say here as I think the cast members were good. Lots of over the top fun and silly moments, but there are lots of moments of sincerity and emotions as well. I thought the chemistry was good as well. There were some things I cringed at but I feel like I was suppose to because it's a love dating gameshow and I think they're suppose to be kind of cheesy.

[ --MUSIC/OST-- ]

I'm indifferent about the opening theme song but "Beyond the Wall" from Gabe Watskins is definitely a song I added to my playlist. It really sets a tone and fits the theme of the series of finding something real/better beyond the artificial bubble we live in.

[ --REWATCH VALUE-- ]

It's a great first watch. It's also short enough that I can be re-watched and I might if they come out with a sequel. Otherwise, I think once is enough for me unless someone I know watches it, then I don't mind watching it again with them.

[ --FINAL THOUGHTS-- ]

Dystopian series are usually pretty bleak so I really enjoyed the silliness of this one while still touching on some much sadder topics. I would definitely recommend this and I do hope they come out with another season. I feel like there is still a lot of stories to be told in this universe.

-------------------------------------------
● NOTE
-------------------------------------------

I'll always conclude my review by saying that ratings and reviews is not really a indicator of whether you may enjoy something. We all have different criteria and standards. Don't let a bad rating, review, or comment discourage you from watching something. My advice will always be to give something a chance if the premise interests you, and only use the ratings/reviews to determine priority if you have a list, or if you're deciding if you want to continue it due to time limitations.

♄ Thanks for reading my review! Feel free to comment or hit me up if you want to discuss anything ♄

Ready Set
Should’ve Been So Much More Than Love

This started off like it was going to be light comedy built around a love story with all the bright set colors and silly incidents with the FL. But once the story started to unfold I found that there shouldn’t have been anything light and fun about this series. Or if there was going to be comedy it should’ve been used to lighten the story when it got too heavy.

The premise of the show was interesting and original, but the writers failed to do a deep dive on the themes they were throwing out. For whatever reason the birth of boys had severely declined. We are never given a reason why or even if research was being done to determine why they were rarely being born. As a result of this decline, there was a shortage of men in the world, so the government’s response was to essentially hold every boy that was born hostage at “The Farm”. They had this national reality game where women would compete to marry a man , but then we are told that’s just a scam and the marriages don’t actually happen.

It seemed as if TPTB were forcing the men to be with women whom they chose, for the purpose of
we’re never told why? The assumption was also if a girl was born, she was allowed to be out in the world and free. It was said that some women’s son’s were stolen from them and taken to The Farm if the they failed to comply with the law in giving up their sons. And those women would then be drugged and imprisoned. But if all men were held hostage at the Farm, who was impregnating these women in the outside world?

So again, it wasn’t clear what the government was hoping to accomplish with imprisoning boys at the Farm and marrying them off to what appeared to be wealthy families. As previously stated, this show had an interesting concept. There were many social commentaries at play ie “fake” vs “real”, population decline, human rights just to name a few.

With all the other more pressing story threads going on the love story was really irrelevant. And at times it seemed as if two shows were being explored within one, but the writers didn’t know how to merge those stories into a coherent show. The leads looked good together and had nice chemistry. It was sweet that they got their HEA but it seemed so out of place within the context of the story, much of which was not properly explored.
