Short lived...but it's better than nothing.
That was too short!!! They should've added "A Glimpse" on the title of this extremely ephemeral special episode.Anyways, I am still grateful that they took some time to give us this brief yet meaningful quick peak of XFF and XH marriage life. It brings me joy just seeing them casually enjoying their day to day marriage life like a normal couple. Not to mention how they even gave us some of their typical "Flirting" skits. I will miss them so much!
P.S. I will forever have this longing towards Xiao Heng's jealousy moments. He's rarely jealous and we seldom see it so I am glad they included tiny bits of it as an introduction of this special episode..

the way they show their emotions, and the way we won't expect what's the next thing that is going to happen, the way they deliver their line with emotions and the way they act, it's really magnificent, not to much the music director has been able to timing the music according to what's happening in the series, overall top notched, performance, i really don't watch so much Chinese drama but this drama made me watch some more, but nothing will ever beat this series for me.

How about a Season 2
Is it possible to negotiate a Season 2? Many storylines can be done with such an ending.....Consider your fans, think about it: director, production, producers. Why not continue the lore and make everyone happy?I'm not satisfied with the 6-minute quencher, it was a slurp when I expected a lakeful of entertainment from this beautiful team you've introduced your fans to. We. Need. More.

Happy Ever After in 5 minutes!
Please I am so sad GIVE US MORE 😭😭 ahh at least they show us their happy ending, I needed to see that after the semi cliffhanger in the last episode 😭. Their daughter is so cute 😭!! Our Hengli finally got their happy ending *emotional*! Now I will looking forward to their upcoming projects while binging their old projects haha!! (checking out Story of Yanxi Palace right now...)10/10!!

Wants to be a sex scene
Let's be real, the writers totally would've included one in the original series if they could have. As I said in my review of The Double, the FL and ML are horny AF and certainly continue to be in this 6 minute special ep.However, I found the sex appeal of these two in the original series to come from their switching. For most of the series they followed a traditional masc/femme, dom/sub dynamic – and it was the moments where they swapped roles when the sexual tension became pure electric.
Except for a rare glimpse of a fan in Xue Fangfei's hands, this short does not deliver the same power/sexual dynamic. Not only is the scene a picture of bland domestic bliss, it's also a consolidation of the Good Governance narrative from the original series.
As I mentioned in my review of the The Double, the political plotline hinged on the main characters supporting the 'rightful' emperor. As this 6 min epilogue asserts: the world is at peace. All the Baddies have been vanquished and the people (or at least the noble elites) can enjoy their lives. Nothing is rotten in the state of Denmark.
Anyway, this short was clearly meant to satisfy viewers who were invested in the romantic storylines of The Double. I'm afraid that wasn't me.

o futuro que poderíamos ter.
uma pequena previa do que poderia acontecer no futuro e como as coisas seriam, é muito fofo e mesmo sendo menos de dez minutos é extremamente fofo, me fez imaginar como todo o futuro que eles poderiam ter tido filhos e contando para eles toda a jornada que eles tiveram e como ficaram juntos... foi extremamente fofo e completou bastante o final da história. ❤️Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
