Curtain Call” Bags Satisfactory Ratings in The First Week of Its Premier!

With 7.2% and 3.1% ratings on its first and second episodes respectively, KBS2's newest K-drama Curtain Call is off to a good start.

According to Nielsen Korea, the reason for the drop in rating for the second episode was that the episode was delayed an hour due to an ongoing baseball match, it was believed that the second episode would have had a higher rating if it was broadcasted on its regular airtime.

“Curtain Call” tells the story of a man Yoo Jae Heon (Kang Ha Neul) who acts as the grandson of Geum Soon (Go Doo Shim) to fulfill her last wish to see her grandson from North Korea.

Curtain Call airs every Monday and Tuesday on KBS2

Geum Soon (Go Doo Shim) is a hotelier who has 3 months left to live. She is one of the escapees who left North Korea when the war first broke out and was separated from her husband and child. With a dream to be united with her lost family, she establishes a hotel that would be a metaphorical lighthouse to bring her family back to her. The hotel business flourished and turned into the Nakwon hotel chain.

Approaching the end of her 92nd year of life, her last desire is to meet her grandson from North Korea.

Yoo Jae Heon (Kang Ha Neul), although his real passion is acting, is a struggling theatre actor who does menial jobs to support himself. One day, he receives an offer from Jung Sang Cheol (Sung Dong Il )- the former manager of hotel Nakwon who assists and looks after Geum Soon. The offer is simple, for him to pretend to be Geum Soon’s grandson before she passes away. Yoo Jae Heon agrees and plays the role of her grandson, but he soon realizes that he has bitten off more than he can chew.

Will Yoo Jae Heon succeed in his attempt to satisfy Geum Soon? Stay tuned to the drama to find out!

The telling of magnificent historical stories, the drama's affluent set-up, Kang Ha Neul's transitions to different characters, and the synergy of the star-studded cast make this drama a must-watch!
