Lee Joon and Jang Hyuk will reportedly be the main leads for an upcoming KBS historical drama.
Media outlet Hankyung shared on May 17 that Lee Joon and Jang Hyuk will be working together for the upcoming historical drama written by Park Pil Joo ("Marry Me Now,” "First Love Again,” and "Naeil's Cantabile"). The upcoming historical drama is set to air in the first half of 2022.
"Red Single Heart" will be a historical fiction series about a man named Lee Tae the enemy of Sunjong, who later became the king of Joseon. Lee Joon was given the offer to play the role of Lee Tae, his goal is to destroy Park Gye Won and anti-government officials in order to strengthen the kingship. Jang Hyuk on the other hand received the offer to play the character of Park Gye Won, he is the king maker that has a conflict with Lee Tae.
This will not be the first time that Lee Joon and Jang Hyuk will work together. Both actors took part in the 2013 drama "IRIS 2" together with Lee Da Hae, Lee Bum Soo, Oh Yeon Soo, Im Soo Hyang, and more.
After his military enlistment, Lee Joon has received several drama offers. He is confirmed to star in the upcoming Netflix original series "The Silent Sea" produced by actor Jung Woo Sung with casts Gong Yoo, Bae Doo Na and more. He also got the offer to lead the new tvN drama "The Immortal" with Lee Jin Wook and Hello Venus' Kwon Na Ra.
Jang Hyuk on the other hand is confirmed for two films such as "A Child Who Can Die" and "Tomb of the River.” "Red Single Heart" will be his first drama project after 2020's "Tell Me What You Saw" with Girls Generation Choi Soo Young, Jin Seo Yun, Jang Hyun Sung, Ryu Seung Soo, and more.
