Zhao Lu Si's The Story of Pearl Girl draws on ancient Chinese jewelry business for realism
Netflix has confirmed the production of The Wonder Fools and announced the cast lineup, which includes Park Eun Bin, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, Im Sung Jae, and Son Hyun Joo.
The Wonder Fools is a Netflix series set in 1999, an era gripped by apocalyptic fears. It tells the story of a group of bumbling locals who, after an unexpected incident, acquire superpowers and take on villains threatening the peace of Haeseong City.
Park Eun Bin (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Castaway Diva, Hot Stove League), will play Eun Chae Ni. Chae Ni is an unpredictable character who, after a sudden incident, gains superpowers. Her journey promises to bring laughter and empathy to audiences.
Cha Eun Woo (Wonderful World, Island) will play the role of Lee Un Jeong, a civil servant specially recruited in Haeseong City who lacks some social skills. At work, Un Jeong is frustratingly strict about principles, but outside of City Hall, he is a mysterious figure drawn to the ongoing series of disappearances in Haeseong City. He will team up with Chae Ni as they delve into these incidents.
Kim Hae Sook (Gyeongseong Creature, Revenant, Hospital Playlist, Start-Up) will play the role of Kim Jeon Bok, Chae Ni's grandmother and only family. Jeon Bok is the owner of a popular restaurant in Haeseong City and is a character with a colorful yet dark past.
Choi Dae Hoon (One Dollar Lawyer, Uprising, Flower of Evil, Crash Landing on You) will play the role of Son Kyung Hoon, Haeseong City's notorious troublemaker.
Im Sung Jae (Hellbound Season 2, The Worst of Evil) will play Kang Ro Bin. Both Kyung Hoon and Ro Bin, who get caught up in the incident alongside Chae Ni, gain superpowers and ultimately join forces with her to fight against the villain.
Veteran actor Son Hyun Joo (Your Honor, The Good Detective, Signal) will portray Ha Won Do, a character who, beneath a cold and rational exterior, harbors dark desires.
The Wonder Fools will be directed by Yoo In Shik, (Dr. Romantic, Vagabond, Extraordinary Attorney Woo), and the screenplay will be written by Heo Da Jung, who adapted Extreme Job. Additionally, renowned writer Kang Eun Kyung (Dr. Romantic, Gyeongseong Creature) joins as the creator.
The Wonder Fools will be available exclusively on Netflix.
