KBS 2TV's new Monday-Tuesday drama The Matchmakers (penned by Ha Soo Jin and helmed by Hwang Seung Ki ) unveiled their character posters. The Matchmakers is a comedic melodrama set in the Joseon era where a bachelor from an upper-class family and a widow team up to pair spinsters and bachelors. The drama promises a roller-coaster of comedic events as Shim Jung Woo, the most frustrated bachelor in Hanyang, and Jung Soon Deok, a widow with a double life, join forces in a Joseon version of Love Actually.
The character posters captivates with a design concept showcasing Shim Jung Woo (Rowoon) and Jung Soon Deok (Cho Yi Hyun) as Joseon era's matchmakers, putting up a notice to recruit spinsters and bachelors.
Dressed in a bright violet traditional robe, Shim Jung Woo emanates an air of formality and principle, emphasizing his ambitions with his determined eyes and the fan he holds adorned with decorative tassels. The poster intriguingly lists Shim Jung Woo's unique qualifications, such as being an 8-year bachelor, specializing in filing for annulment of marriages, hinting at his results-driven matchmaking approach.
Next, Jung Soon Deok shines as she transforms into her alter ego, a sophisticated and influential woman of the Joseon era. She embodies the spirit of a true matchmaking goddess with her confident expression, luxurious jewelry, and vibrant red lipstick. Notably, she balances a double life, as Jung Soon Deok, a 5-year widow, and her alter ego, an expert in destiny matchmaking, raising expectations on how her destiny-driven matchmaking will turn out.
The Matchmakers is set to premiere at 9:45 PM on October 30.
