"School 2021" will reportedly begin filming!

"School 2021" with main leads Wei's Kim Yo Han, Jo Yi Hyun, and Kim Young Dae will reportedly start filming. 

Media outlets shared on May 13th, "School 2021" will finally begin filming this June. Originally scheduled to film during the past year, the production team put the project on hold due to controversies that surround the casting of the female leads. "School 2021" is slated to air in the second half of this year. 

Kim Yo Han has confirmed to participate in the drama while Jo Yi Hyun and Kim Young Dae are still reviewing the casting offer. 

"School 2021" depicts the story of students from a specialized high school as they pursue each of their unique dreams instead of going the normal route of preparing for college. This will be added to KBS' School drama tradition. They have already aired seven school series, from "School 1" in 1999 until "School 2017" in 2017.

The upcoming drama will be directed by Kim Min Tae who also worked for "Cheat On Me, If You Can," "Witch's Court", and more.

Kim Yo Han will play the role of Joo Do Bin, a hardworking person who balances work and school life. If Jo Yi Hyun confirms her casting, she will take on the role of Na Geum Young, a student from the specialized high school who dreams of becoming a Youtuber. Meanwhile, Kim Young Dae got the offer to play the character named Kim Tae Jin.

Kim Yo Han is currently active as an idol and a member of his group, Wei. He is also the current MC of music program "The Show" with ATEEZ’s Kang Yeo Sang and Weeekly’s Jihan. In 2020, he debuted as an actor with the drama "A Love So Beautiful."

Jo Yi Hyun made her acting debut in 2018. She also appeared in the 2020 series "Hospital Playlist." She will also be part of the upcoming Netflix series "All of Us Are Dead."

For Kim Young Dae, this drama will be his fifth project for 2021. He's part of the second and third season of "Penthouse," upcoming dramas "A Gentleman and a Young Lady," "School 2021," and "Why Oh Soo Jae?".
