Upcoming Dramas To Be Excited About Part 1

Hello, everyone. I’m Sassy Queen (a name that doesn’t suit me at all, haha). Hope everyone is doing OK. BTW, I’m a Moon Chae Won lover. Who doesn’t know her? Please check her profile, she is an great actress. 

In this article, I’m going to mention about the upcoming dramas I will watch and why I’m excited about them. There are going to be 17 dramas from different five countries it total.

So now let’s start. Hope everyone will like this.

Let’s  start with one of my favourite countries, Thailand.

I’m a very picky watcher, but I watch a lot of lakorns, or Thai dramas. I have five Thai dramas that everyone should watch in 2021. Thailand is mostly known for their BL dramas, but their classic slap kiss dramas are also interesting. In 2021, thousands of dramas are going to be released, but I have chosen my top five dramas which are worth watching.

KinnPorsche

The second son of the mafia, Kinn Anakinn, is assaulted by an enemy, causing him to flee from them until he meets Porsche Pitchaya, a young student who was hired as a part-time waiter at an entertainment establishment. Porsche saw the scene play out in the entertainment establishment, but didn’t pay much attention to it.

But then, Kinn makes an offer. If Porsche can save him from his enemies, he would pay a certain amount in return. Porsche, who has the highest martial arts degree and is a national judo champion, decides to get involved and helps Kinn escape. Due to his striking combat skills, Kinn then wants to hire Porsche to be his personal bodyguard.

Porsche was opposed to the idea and rejected Kinn, but he would do anything to get what he wants. After being terrorised by Kinn’s enemies and Kinn himself, Porsche has no choice but to agree. Porsche didn’t want to be a part of this dangerous world because he was afraid that the only person he loved, his brother Porché Pitchaya, would, get hurt. Porsche accepts Kinn's ridiculous offers and moves in to live with him.

There is still a mystery that Porsche has to face with some very unexpected events. Moreover, the intimacy with Kinn creates a turbulent feeling in their hearts that starts to shake and become love. That path will not be easy because of the many problems and many obstacles that will test their love. He must stand up against all the problems he faces.

I Promised You the Moon

This is the second season of I Told Sunset About You. In this season, we will get to see them in college. As they are dating now, will they be able to overcome their jealousy and find ultimate happiness?

Reasons To Be Excited: This drama has a special space in our hearts because the story feels really real. We can relate with the main and supporting characters too much. Education is definitely an important part of our lives and costs many things. As a student, I really could relate with some of the themes: their jealousy of each other; the force of nature against them; their intense scenes; the kiss, the touching, and the smelling of each other; and other things that were so real. The hugs, flower, and beach scene was really good, too. Oh Aew’s and Teh’s feelings for each other were unbeatable.

As an audience, I have to say everything about this lakorn was really great. The visuals, cinematography, cast, dialogue -- everything was perfect. It touched our hearts and that’s why it was one of the most awaited dramas of 2021. Love comes with pain, and it’s something worth being hurt over. This lakorn showed this really well. Before I started watching this lakorn, someone told me he wanted to watch this lakorn again without remembering any of the scenes, and now I also feel this way. As they overcome their conflicts of life and confess their love, I would really like to see what they will do during their college life. Is their love a forever thing or just for a period of time? There are so many unanswered questions.

I’m really excited to see this lakorn, but it’s gonna give us a really hard time. From waiting for the release and then the torture of waiting for the next episode, to the pain of international fans.

Wimarn Sai

Arisara meets Panin in Rayong province, where she helps him after he was attacked by thieves. She mistakens him for a foreman at a construction site and gives him money, as he lost his wallet. Without knowing each other's identities, they both fall in love. Panin is impressed by her generosity, and for once he found a girl that likes him for himself, not for his money or status. She is impressed by his integrity.

When they return to Bangkok, Arisara discovers that Panin misled her about his true status, and Panin discovers that she is the love interest of his younger brother Yoh. So, both are angry.  

She is upset because he did not dare reveal the truth to his brother, that they have met before, and that they like each other. Panin is upset because he thought she trivialized his love, that she was just flirting with him, just like she was with his brother and her male friend, Non.

The misunderstandings are compounded with Yoh's obsessive love for Arisara, and Panin struggles with the notion of giving her up to his younger brother.

Reasons To Be Excited: I am intrigued by slap-kiss lakorns with an abusive male lead. I like seeing how the female tolerates the torture and overcomes her fears. This lakorn is an official remake of a previous one of same name. Esther is an promising actress of Thailand. As it’s going to be a classic slap-kiss lakorn, I will watch this. Hope they improve some facts and make it more likeable. I’m really excited as it’s a love triangle between brothers, which will be interesting to see. 

Rakkaew

Roisaithong, an orphan who has been adopted by Rungrorng's father, is later looked after by Rungrorng after his death. She considers Rungrorng as her sister. After the realization that Rungrorng feels for her in a romantic way, Roisaithong tries to run away, but can't do so as she is watched by Rungrorng all the time. She decides to hang out during the night and go against Rungrorng's orders. Everyone sees her as an ungrateful child

Reasons to be excited: I’m a huge fan of Kao. Since she signed with Chaneel 3, she has just acted as a main lead in two lakorons, which were really well written and had praise-worthy acting. It’s not the first time for Kao to act in a lesbian themed drama. Previously, she acted in a lesbian themed short drama. This one is huge and her co-star from Hormones, Peach, is also here. It will be fun to watch the bad boy and bad girl from Hormones in a drama together again, but this time as love interests. Based on the stills, it seems a real peace of life lakorn. We could relate to many things. Kao is a brilliant actress. She has nothing to prove when it comes to acting. And day by day she is getting better. Her performance in My Forever Sunshine touched our hearts. So I hope you guys will watch it as I will definitely watch this. They are still shooting so I guess we have to wait a year at least. Hope that everything works out fine and we get another brilliant drama from Kao.

Between Us

A parallel story to Until We Meet Again (2019), Between Us tells the story of how Win and Team got to know one another through the swim club and eventually develop a relationship. They grow their relationship as Win helps Team deal with his childhood trauma, and Team helps Win feel wanted.

Reasons To Be Excited: The couple we liked more than the main couple are going have their own show. Isn’t this enough to be excited about? They had so much chemistry, and the way their story felt real... I’m so ready to see this. But they haven’t give us any date yet, so we have to wait for some more time . 

The second country is China, and for this, I picked seven dramas. Three dramas feature my favourite Chinese actress, and the other dramas have plots and casts that interested me. Check them out.

Dream of Chang'an

This show tells the fateful reunion of twin sisters Cheng Ruo Yun and Chou Yan Zhi as they become involved in political affairs upon encountering the young emperor Li Yan.

The eunuchs have gained control of the palace during the reign of Emperor Wen Zong of Tang. Hoping to free the nation from their clutches, Emperor Wenzhong secretly plots to assassinate the head eunuch Chou Shi Liang, but their plan ends in utter defeat.

Prime minister Wang Ya's entire household is sentenced to death except for his granddaughter twins who barely escape death. The younger sister who is adopted by the Ziyi Bureau assumes the name Yu Bing Er. Determined to take revenge, the older sister changes her name to Yan Zhi and becomes Chou Shi Liang's goddaughter.

Seven years later, emperor Li Yan (Cheng Yi) ascends to the throne. Li Yan resorts to using the Ziyi Bureau to fight against Chou Shi Liang. As a result, the two sisters meet again as enemies unable to recognize their relation by blood.

Reasons To Be Excited: I’m a huge fan of Zhang Yuxi. And this is one of her most difficult projects. 

Some people might not be aware that this drama was the most controversial drama because of the leads. Cheng Yi and Zhang Yuxi were the most trolled couple of 2020. And the trolling was mostly towards Zhang Yuxi. Love and Redemption fans trolled her because she worked with Cheng Yi as her leading lady in this drama. But just because they worked in Love and Redemption as brother-in-law and sister-in-law doesn’t mean they can’t work in another drama as love interests. Ever since they announced the cast during the booting ceremony, people still couldn’t believe that they were working as a couple. Cheng Yi and Crystal Yuan fan’s trolled Xixi verbally. People said that they didn’t have any chemistry. But now, after seeing more clips, they are more accepting of this beautiful couple. They both proved that they have chemistry, and that’s why the director choose them to work with each other. Right now, it’s one of the most hyped and awaited Chinese dramas of 2021.

South Wind Knows My Mood

Botanist Fu Yun Shen and Zhu Yang, who works with Doctors Without Borders, travel deep into underdeveloped regions to offer humanitarian relief while searching for a special medicinal plant that can save many lives.

Fu Yun Shen returns to China to develop medicine but soon discovers that his half-brother Fu Xi Zhou seeks to maximize profits by turning the medicinal plants into a series of Chinese herbal cosmetics. A car crash suddenly occurs and leaves Fu Yun Shen seriously injured. The drug development comes to a halt which results in a misunderstanding with Zhu Jiu  who remains unaware of what happened.

After half a year, Zhu Jiu and Fu Yun Shen have overcome many disappointments and heartaches to become a couple again. With their wedding date approaching, Zhu Jiu inadvertently finds clues about the death of her parents. Fate has played a cruel joke on them as the grievances of the previous generation has thrown a wrench in their relationship. This time around, Fu Yun Shen is determined to protect their hard-earned romance.

Reasons To Be Excited: The trollers still couldn’t bear the fact that they worked in two dramas as main leads one after another one. This dramas story feels like it was adapted from real life. Our life isn’t perfect. Everything doesn’t work like we wish. We always don’t end up with our love ones. But we still fight for our love and success in life. 

Cheng Yi is going to act as an arrogant man at first, but after meeting with Zhang Yuxi, he will change. This drama isn’t going to disappoint us. I’m most excited about this drama.

Love At Night

As the night has fallen and the bustling offices have gone quiet, Xu Qing You and Mo Ling Ze first meet due to a misunderstanding.

White-collar worker Xu Qing You spends all year round working so much that it's always evening by the time she packs up to go home. She has been in a long-term relationship with Fan Yun Xi for ten years and was preparing for her wedding when she finds out that he cheated on her. Fan Yun Xi explains it was an accident yet Xu Qing You resolutely asks to break up.

At this time, Xu Qing You encounters Mo Ling Ze and they immediately start off on the wrong foot. Thinking that they'd never meet again, their paths cross when Mo Ling Ze takes over the business operations at the firm where Xu Qing You is an employee. Because of work, Xu Qing You can no longer avoid Mo Lingze whereas he becomes amused by her reaction. On one hand, Mo Ling Ze is headstrong yet shows just the right amount of concern for Xu Qing You. On the other hand, Fan Yun Xi is desperately trying to win her back. Coming to realize what she wants for herself, Xu Qing You decides to start her life anew.

Reasons To Be Excited: Anything with Zhang Yuxi with the main lead, count me in. The male lead is Liu Xue Yi. They are the hyped couple. Ever since it’s been rumoured that they are going to be in a drama, people stated shipping them and wishing it to be true. So many edits of them were made by netizens. It’s a different start for both of them and also a special one. It’s Liu Xue Yi’s first male lead role in a modern drama, and Zhang Yuxi’s first time acting in a office themed drama. They’re really good friends in real life, so let’s wish that it will be released soon. They're a lovely couple. They weren’t trolled by anyone. The BTS of the drama seems special. Both of them treat each other nicely and respectfully. I’m really excited because Xixi didn’t have to suffer while filming this drama, like she did while filming with Cheng Yi.

Why Women Love

Gu Jia Xin is full of talents but has no intention of inheriting the family business following his mother's arrangement for him to become Zhao Jiang Yue’s assistant. The two slowly come together to realize their dreams.

Reasons To Be Excited: A office nonna romance in a Chinese drama.

Love Me Like a Child

31-year old Lin Yang is accomplished at work but does not have her own else and even her apartment was rented.

In her boring life, suddenly appears 24 year-old Lu Zheng An. Lu Zheng An was her neighbour who grew up with her, and has returned from studying overseas. He tries hard to enter her life, and eventually succeeds in moving into her house and intruding into her work. Lin Xiang constantly reminds herself that Lu Zheng An is a younger brother, but ultimately could not withstand Zheng An's charms. Her boring life and sleeping heart was awakened with the appearance of Zheng An, and she finds herself falling for him.

Reasons To Be Excited: The story seems really similar to the Korean drama Something in the Rain. So seeing the Chinese remake will be fun. Other than that I love to watch Chinese nonna dramas. The cast is great. The story is also okay, the only thing we need to know is the release date.

Chasing the Light

Jiang Cheng is an exemplary youth who excels in his studies. He was adopted since young, but was abandoned by his foster family and moved back with his father. Faced with an unfamiliar surroundings and a gambler father, he develops a rebellious character. His life took a change when he meets Gu Fei, a roguish and tough guy. As they get to know each other, they develop a close friendship and thus begin a journey of redemption as they help each other heal and grow through their pains.

Reasons To Be Excited: Novel-based Chinese BLs are always special. Not only does the story seem real, but the cast also touches our hearts. People who have read the novel says it’s a great one, so let’s wait until it’s released.

Jade Lovers

Set in the 1930s, the story centers around Shen Chen Xi, the daughter of a former magnate whose family falls to ruin after going bankrupt. Her experiences after help her grow from someone muddled in love to an inspirational goddess.

Bai Luo Han is a man treading morally ambiguous territory by working indiscriminately with both good and bad. Whilst he appears cold and calculating on the outside, inside he is a kind-hearted man constantly on the lookout for Chen Xi.

Reasons To Be Excited: It’s the most awaited and hyped drama. People are excited to watch Zheng Shuang and Lee Jong Suk together. The trailer makes us more impatient, but sadly it’s not going to be release in the next five years. They finished shooting in 2015. It’s been almost seven years. Rumours say the release year is 2030. 

The third country is South Korea. I like South Korean films, but honestly, I didn’t find myself that interested in South Korean dramas. I’m not a huge Kdrama fan. I have a few dramas from South Korea, and the only actor I like from South Korea is Moon Chae Won. But for my 2021 list, I have two dramas with a cheating plot, because they seem interesting.

Reasons To Be Excited: People have different opinions about it’s first season. But I liked it and watched the whole first season, and the reason for this was these three ladies. None of them were at fault for what they were getting from their husbands. This season is going to bring a whole rollercoaster ride of revenge and emotions, so I’m ready to watch it. The wife’s story definitely touched my heart. And the trashy husbands shouldn’t end up with their mistress. It’s going to premiere on June 5, 2021.

A melodrama about a woman who supports an affair not knowing it's her husband's mistress.

Reasons To Be Excited: I hate cheating so much that I don’t even have words to explain it. As it says in the description, the wife is going to support the mistress without knowing it’s her husband’s. This caught my attention. One should never support something unjust, or they're going to pay for it. Hope the female lead will have a strong character and everything works out well. The female lead is a great actress. Her acting will not be unsatisfying, but the script will also have to be good.

The fourth country is Taiwan. I found these two dramas interesting.

Be Loved in House: I Do

Founded about ten years ago, Seisei Studio is in danger of going bankrupt before Jin Yu Zhen, a person who excels in management, appears and becomes the new director. On the first day of his directorship, the atmosphere of the studio changew completely when he enforces a single rule which prohibits romantic relationships and marriages between employees, and the violation of the rule resulted in a dismissal. To abolish the rule, the employees of Seisei Studio collude with a secret plan.

Shei Lei, an employee, approaches Yu Zhen to snoop for information about the love life of this domineering director. As a result of various encounters, he finds out that the tyrant director is still hurt from a past relationship and is suffering from loneliness. Knowing that he still possesses a heart, Shei Lei becomes curious about Yu Zhen.

Reasons To Be Excited: Taiwan BL dramas always give a different vibe. They are fun to watch, and this one is an office romance drama, and that’s why I’m really excited. I really want to see how their relationship starts while working in office.

Because of You 2

Growing up in a large, wealthy family, the three Yuan brothers never wanted anything. Yuan Jun Cheng, Yuan Jun Dao, and Yuan Jun Ping all have different mothers though and were competitors for the fortune 500 business empire of their father. All started to change when Lin Xun, a poor young man who had previously helped Jun Cheng, was asked to call the father of the three Yuan brothers by his dying mother. Adding to the camaraderie is Jun Dao's roommate Yang Xiang and Jun Ping's best friend, Yan Yue.

Confirmed by the main actor, Mu Ji Hsu, on his personal Instagram. The story is set to follow after the events of COVID-19, continuing the relationship of the 3 brothers.

Reasons To Be Excited: Those people who have watched the first season are definitely waiting for this one to be released. The first season was cute and short and can be completed in a day. The story was interesting and not even a minute bore me. The chemistry was just right. The romance was also good. The interaction between the characters felt real. Definitely a different vibe. So I’m definitely going to watch this drama.

 Finally, the fifth country is Japan.  

Rikokatsu

Mizuguchir Saki is an outstanding fashion magazine editor who grew up in a modern and liberal family. She meets Obara Koichi who is the ace of the Air Rescue Wing of the Air Self Defense Force. He grew up in a strict military family and is the classic straight-laced guy. Although Saki and Koichi are polar opposites, the two of them quickly get married without dating, believing that they would start a happy life as newlyweds after a lavish wedding ceremony.

However, as they begin living together in the same house, their differences in lifestyles and values result in differences in opinions and huge fights. Saki and Koichi soon decide to get a divorce. But the couple have difficulty breaking the news of their decision to their families, colleagues and friends who celebrated their marriage and looked forward to the future. They thus start activities behind the scenes to prepare for their divorce.

Reasons To Be Excited: I’m a huge fan of Japanese marriage dramas. And it’s a mature people’s marriage drama. The leads are likeable. And it’s airing currently. I’m still watching it and it gets better with every episode. The role of the leads are different from others, and even the supporting actors are good. So overall, it’s a satisfying drama.
