The May-June period was a tough one personally...I needed to make important decisions about my life, I doubted myself, and just felt stuck, so like any responsible adult I decided to swallow my feelings and indulge in comforting binge-watching rather than making a decision :)) So, May-June became the period that I watched the most drama amounting in 10 shows!!
Bo Ra! Deborah (8/10)
I was just looking for a simple 2015sh vibe rom com to get lost in and stop myself from overthinking my life, and Bo Ra!Deborah was exactly that. With a fun, quirky, over-the-top, but somehow relatable damsel-in-distress female lead. Though the ml was as poker faced a jerk ml would be, he was actually sweet and dependable. The supporting characters were pretty forgettable except daddy long legs and Judy Korean version. The comedy was sometimes on point and the watch overall was a fun, which made me wait and anticipate the episodes each week. -

What's better than watch your fav drama with your fav characters comforting you in a stressful time? Well, watching it for a 2nd time! Each episode of HP was like a happiness pill in a time of unfamiliarities and odds, seeing these genuinely nice characters interact, love, laugh, eat, and jam in the basement was a soothing watch that comforted me the most and made wanna grow to be like my fav characters ♡

8. Because This is My First Life
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

Because this is My first Life (8.5) 2nd Watch
There is something really magical and soothing about this drama, though it has all the rom-com tropes: marriage contract, opposite leads, triplet BFFs, cringe families...it had something relatable that I always find myself thinking of it when asked about my fav rom-com. I remember my 1st watch being in love with Lee Min Ki's Nam Se Hee...dunno why he was strangely attractive: his awkwardness, respectable demeanor with the FL, calm personality, and overall lonely personality vibes, but this time I was more interested in Ji Ho...following her journey to fulfill her maslow's pyramid needs and achieving her dream of becoming a writer while juggling her demanding patriarchal family and not giving up on her friends circle felt like cheering up a friend on her personal growth journey ♡

I really don't know why it took me over two years to finish this sweet cute slice of life rom-com? Except the angsty not my type 2ndary couple, everything in this drama was my cup of tea. From a very fine Im Si Wan being the smol cute munchy Sean Gyum to a FL that can give a crash course on how to slay for damsel in distress out there...the OSTs, the sublte comedy, subtle awkardness, life lessons, fun moments, and overall summer fun, soothing scenery..this was PERFECT except for the 2nd leads story that didn't add anything.

10. Mad for Each Other
Korean Drama - 2021, 13 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/9241705/feeds/vL576hx
There is something about Mad for each other, with all its craziness, unorthodox leads, and overall weird vibes, that makes it a memorable show. Hwi Oh and Min Kyung balancing and supporting each other in their healing journey was a wholesome watch. I loved their baggy clothing style, sarcastic comments, over the top situations and rooted for their happiness at the end ❤

Doctor Cha felt like a refreshingly nostalgic 2010 drama with its too nice, hard working, and down to earth FL, happy OSTs, jerk ml, family love, and too perfect 2nd ml...yet it was a very fun and endearing watch that kept me rooting for Dr Cha's happiness in whatever she chooses ❤

12. Itaewon Class
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Itaewon Class reminded me that crazy popular dramas get there for a reason: the entertainment factor. I binged the entire thing in two days, though with a drawing deadline for my grad school application, I just couldn't put it down and had to know what the next obstacle was for Mr. Cheestnut and how he'll overcome it. I loved Yi Soo's unorthodox personality, her unapologetic smitten character, and her smarts. The evil guys were too cartoonish, though, and Park Sae Roo's straightness was sometimes annoying, though it's his best trait. Overall, it was a fun ride!

13. Park Ha Kyung Travel Diary
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
Probably the best drama of 2023 unless something outstanding comes in the way. I loved the subtle life lessons, scenery, admirable quietness of this BEAUTUFUL drama. I really wanna try the one day trip idea whenever I can ❤

14. Bloodhounds
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
Bloudhounds is a nonsensical, highly entertaining drama that belongs in a Ma Dong Soak's 100% entertainment factor universe. It would crumb if I used my two brain cells to find the endless plot holes and weak character's motives, but if I chose to put my brain in the fridge and enjoy the ride, it becomes a blast.
Overall, it was a FUN ride that I would give 10/10 for entertaining me, and 8.5/10 if I wanna less biasedhttps://mydramalist.com/profile/9241705/feeds/jLPRDcj

15. A Date With the Future
Chinese Drama - 2023, 36 episodes
A Date with the Future--My 1st Chinese drama
Whenever I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, which is k-dramas to try other Asian country shows, I found myself drawn to costume/period shows. However, I could never pass the first 10 min to drop it bc I just find it over the top ridiculous until I picked up A date with the future purely because I thought the premise of the firefighter/reporter was somehow close to my Korean guilty pleasure duo of the soldier/doctor in DOTS. I wasn't disappointed at all, the show was truly cute and enjoyable, but that's it. It never delivered butterflies, swoons; it was a joyride with Mr. Dimples firefighter and the dependable, strong, cute Xu Lai who was determined to get what she wanted and stood up for her haters and burdensome 2nd lead...yet once the leads got together, it just became repetitive to the extreme. Another reason, the 12 or 16 eps formula in Korean rom coms works for me, but milking it to over 30 eps is just a time waste.
7/10 will probably drop soon or watch slowly when I want something simple, angst free, and cute. -

18. Tale of the Nine-Tailed Season 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
Wow...this was the most exciting project of 2023 (9/10)
What a banger! I admit that watching this without watching the prequel left me with a lot of gaps and questions. The biggest question is how can Lee Yeon choose a damsel in distress who forgets her umbrella each time and waits for him to bring it for her over the badass, gorgeousness personified Hong Joo is!! That alone is picking my interest to watch the prequel rn just to find out what great person is Ahn Bum/Ji Ah for him to make that drastic decision. Regardless, the drama was amazing. I couldn't drop it and finished the entire thing in 2 days. It had the perfect combination comedy, action, period, war, fantasy, and romance...like it was Korean masala :) I loved Lee Yeon, his quirks, his cunningness, even his gestures...I rediscovered Lee Dong Wook as an actor through him, and he became an instant fav. Kim So Yeon as Ryu Hun Joo is everything I can ask for in a badass female lead and more. She was the heart and spirit of the show. I really liked and cared for all the characters, and the overall cast did amazing. Some of my fav episodes are the one with the impersonator and tv set, the fortune baby, the hotel vs Japanese Avengers, and many more. Each episode had a great deal to offer and was a fun ride on its own...Now, I'm really excited to watch the prequel and can't wait for the 3rd season. I hope Ahn Bum/Ji Ah won't miss it for me, but I'll always be team badas Hong Joo and would love to see her in the 3rd seasonhttps://mydramalist.com/profile/9241705/feeds/dLq7vFB

19. Cheongdam International High School
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
No joyride nonsense acted by a bunch of good-looking extremely bad actors, written in a kindergarten level of coherence, and directed poorly to say the least...dunno why I stuck to it, maybe the false hope of waiting for the nonexistent climax. The idea of this having a second season and me watching it just to "figure out" the climax makes me regret watching even more...Probably the worst I've watched in the last few years, not just 2023 :)

https://mydramalist.com/profile/9241705/feeds/W4yz2c3
A fun, nonsense, dopamine inducing watch that feels like a min-makjang on steroids.
Pros:
-The fast pace and tackling a new topic of the the crazy world of e-influencers in Seoul
-It was a self aware crackhead show and it didn't pretend to be more
-The honest hot dickhead oppa
-The bitch-fights and angst
-Fun cameos, especially the latest one (hope for a 2nd season with him)
Cons:
-The secondary couple was useless, so it the hinted at relationships with the 1st ML and 2nd FL was useless
-The acting is so bland with poker faces that LMH and PSH look decent
-Full of plotholes
Overall, it was a fun forgettable watch with some iconic scenes like the police one and the shoes one :) -
22. I Have a Lover
Korean Drama - 2015, 50 episodes
A crazy makjang loving era. I didn't buy the redemption arc. The husband early eps behaviors awere irredemble for me, but I laughed and enjoyed bits of it and the main soundtrack at the end of each ep. The fl actress was lovable too.

26. Juvenile Justice
Korean Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
This was a truly heavy and disturbing watch, but a much-needed and eye-opening one. I remember, as a 16 yo when I started my K-drama journey , thinking of South Korea as the safe heaven, I realized later that as any country in the world, it has its own set of problems. As a 23 yo, still this drama still shook me in many instances, especially with the type of crimes it tackles. I didn't know much about the teen runaway gangs, young offenders using the law to commit horrible crimes and avoid the consequences, the heinous world of teen prostitution, the fragility of life, or how anyone can be a victim yet the court can't take a firm stance... The last scene truly resonated with me: "It takes an entire village to raise a child. In other words, a child's life could be ruined if the entire village neglects the child". As someone who questions, "How am I supposed to bring a child and raise them well in a messed up world?" this watch was scary and haunting and makes me dig even deeper and re-think that over.
Technically, it was a well-made show. The pace was on point, each episode is poignant and imp. Maybe the 10 eps format is the best for this genre instead of dragging it for no reason. The casting was stellar across the board, with a standing ovation for the veterans: Kim Hye Soo and Lee Sung Minhttps://mydramalist.com/profile/9241705/feeds/k4m3qiJ

27. Lovers
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
This drama is a depiction of "True beauty comes with pain." well a lot of pain in this case. With each beautiful scene, character arc development, and romantic encounter, there comes a lot of pain for our beloved characters that takes a toll on us as viewers because we deeply care for them. Gil Chae and Jang Hyun as characters and as a couple made me feel a lot of joy, butterflies, smirking like a teen in love, and all, but truly frustrated me at times, and even when I came to analyze their frustrating actions, it painfully made sense from their backgrounds they're coming from given their past traumas, perceptions of life, and current priorities. I LOVED them too much and hated them at times, but it was rly hard to stay indifferent when such deeply layered characters were interacting in such a fascinating tale. Their romance is truly painful, but I'm all here for it. It aches to give my full heart to this drama, knowing it will break it, but it's too late to call it off bc I'm fully invested in this beloved and hated couple :)
