My favourite dramas
These are the dramas I liked the most for different reasons.
-
1. Alchemy of Souls
Korean Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
This is my favourite drama. I love both seasons. Season 1 has great humour and a great storyline, while season 2 has great chemistry between the main actors. I give a shoutout to the crown prince and his turtle!
-
2. Twinkling Watermelon
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
This drama brought me pure joy and has a "Back to the future"-vibe that was very welcome. I loved the story, especially the father-son-relationship and the lovestory of the parents. The music was great too.
-
3. Lovely Runner
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I love both actors in their roles and the whole dynamic of their relationship. The story was a rollercoaster-ride. I would have liked more background for the thriller-aspect of the show but the lovestory was one of the cutest I´ve seen. Music was great in this one.
-
4. Under the Queen’s Umbrella
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
This was the best historical show I´ve seen so far. What a great female cast, especially the queen and the queenmother! The cinematography was breathtaking. I could tell the many crown princes apart. Moon Sang Min was my favourite.
-
5. Vincenzo
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
A great story, sometimes dark, sometimes funny! Loved the main leads! I also loved Kwak Dong Yeons performance as villain. Also all the inhabitants of Vincenzos building were hilarious.
-
6. Healer
Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes
Ji Chang Wook is my favourite south korean actor and this is his best drama. It has it all - a great story, a cute lovestory, action, fun and a good soundtrack. It also features Kim Mi Kyung in her best role.
-
7. Buitengewoon Jij
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
It features many of my favourite actors in their earliest roles. I loved the "Boys over flowers"-references and the meta-references to dramas in general. Lee Jae Wook is my favourite young south korean actor. He shines with his portrayal of this complicated character. I also adore the main leads.
-
8. Forever Love
Chinese Drama - 2020, 28 episodes
I loved the leads in this coming-of-age drama! You accompany them into adulthood and cry and laugh with them. I´ve never seen more natural acting in a drama.
-
9. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
The best south korean coming-of-age drama! It has one of the cutest couples in kdramaland!
-
10. Twenty-Five Twenty-One
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Another excellent coming-of-age drama. The ending made it even more nostalgic and quite realistic. All good things come to an end. The soundtrack is one of the best OST.
-
11. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
I love the main leads and their chemistry! This made me laugh so hard!
-
12. Like Flowers in Sand
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
One of the most realistic dramas. The leads are amazing.
-
13. Dali and Gamjatang
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Perfect mixture of comedy, romance and thriller. The lead couple is one of the best in dramaland. The cinematography is excellent. a must-watch.
-
14. Mad Dog
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
I love everything about this drama. It combines suspense, action, bromance, comedy and a little romance with a great plot that never slows down and great acting from everyone.
-
15. Suspicious Partner
Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes
I love the bickering main couple and the villain was one of the best! Also couldn´t stop laughing at Ji Chang Wooks rants during his business meetings.
-
16. Navillera
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
This one brought me to tears! Song Kang in his best role yet.
-
17. Frightening Cohabitation
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
One of the funniest south korean fantasy dramas. Loved all the leads.
-
18. Ik ben geen robot
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
The story may sound strange but the drama works. It has a great cast and the main couple has great chemistry.
-
19. Happiness
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
This is less convoluted than "Sweet home" with a similar premise. I love the main actors in this.
-
20. Een lente nacht
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
Despite playing the same (great) Racheal Yamagata-songs over and over, I loved this for its clever plot and realistic approach. I also loved the lead actors and the supporting cast. I think this one is a little bit better than the almost equally great "Something in the rain". But the female lead is stronger and here you won´t find a mother that gives you secondary trauma;-)
-
21. Our Beloved Summer
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Just sweet and great acting!
-
22. Ware Schoonheid
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
The premise is a bit nonsensical... I mean, the leading actress is beautiful without make-up as well. But despite that, this is quite entertaining. I loved the second couple with their roles reversed!
-
23. Luo Yao Knew What He Meant
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
Super cute coming-of-age story with very little angst and a very healthy relationship between the two main couples. Loved all five of the friends. Each one gets his/her spotlight in this.
-
24. Shooting Star
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
This one made me laugh for hours. Kim Young Dae is fabulous in this role!
-
25. Just Between Lovers
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
The storyline was really heartbreaking and well acted. Lee Jun Ho was fantastic in this.
-
26. I Will Die Soon
Korean Drama - 2023, 4 episodes
I loved the concept of the show. The acting was amazing. A very important message was provided. And what a great cast!
-
27. Il Dang Baek Butler
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
I loved the story which had a good amount of humour but also heartbreak and tears. The leads had great chemistry and acted very well. I also loved the side characters - especially the uncles.
-
28. Dress Sleeved Red
Korean Drama - 2021, 17 episodes
"The red sleeve" is my second fave historical kdrama. I think the cinematography is exceptional and the acting is great from everyone. Lee Junho gives the performance of a lifetime. I wish the ending would be happy instead of bittersweet but they gave the best ending they could regarding the real life events this is based on.
