Dramas That Are Very Different From What I Thought
These are the ones I thought would be one thing, but turned out to be completely different. Be it in terms of plot, characters or twists.

1. Angry Mom
Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes
At first I thought this would be more of a slapsticky, fun mess kind of drama and not as deep or dark than it actually is. The drama still has it's comedy moments, but the topics and messages it conveys are anything but light.
A pleasant surprise.

2. Chicago Typewriter
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
I admit I rarely read tags or genres because some can actually spoil me. But I think what really helped this drama for me was that the description is actually pretty ambiguous (and a bit misleading in some parts). Honestly this one isn't extremely different from what I thought but I was still pretty curious of what direction this drama would take.
Not that baffling of a surprise, but still pleasant.

3. Dear Prince
Chinese Drama - 2017, 19 episodes
This one I guess was the one that took me by surprise the most. Lighthearted and silly, this one is a good distraction when you need it, and the twist WILL make you go like "wtf just happened" real quick.
A really strange but pleasant surprise

4. Longing Heart
Korean Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
The description is misleading as heck. I was expecting a completely different kind of love triangle but ended up watching another different type of love triangle (or a more conventional one depending on your interpretation). But I admit it has some pretty romantic undertones to it.
A 'meh' surprise. It was a 'meh' drama.

5. Prison Playbook
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Like I said before, I don't usually read tags, so look at my surprise when I found that this is fairly more comedic than I thought. My first impression was that it's going to be this dark, tear inducing drama. It's not completely light to be honest, and IS tear inducing, but the shameless comedy and endearing characters baffled me in a good way.
A more than pleasant surprise.

6. A Love So Beautiful
Chinese Drama - 2017, 23 episodes
Okay, maybe this one is the one that I was least "surprised". Actually, it pretty much is what has in the description, but I read so many comments saying "oh, this is kinda like Itazura na Kiss but much better" and that "it's so cute, refreshing type of the same cliché" that I ended up giving a try. Turn out it wasn't even close from what I was expecting.
They raised my expectations too high. Unpleasant surprise.
