BL shows I've watched.
I'm generally not too picky when it comes to BL, but to be honest, I'm trying to keep with more recently made shows/movies because they aren't as prudish. ;P I prefer real BL in my BL and I HATE sad/bad endings. Also, as a US fan, I don't follow celebrity/actor real life drama, (I don't have access), so all my thoughts/opinions are purely from a 'view the show only' stand-point.
If anyone happens by this list wants to rec anything not on here that isn't tragic or horror, please drop me a note. :)
***My comments may contain spoilers.***
~~~Update 2024: I got too lazy to leave comments on shows. :3 ~~~
1. 2 Moons
Thai Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
Cute.
-
2. A Round Trip to Love
Chinese Movie - 2016
Not a HEA!!! :<
-
3. Beloved Enemy
Chinese Drama - 2017, 15 episodes
Bromance.
-
4. Dark Blue Kiss
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
I really liked this one. I'm leaving notes well after the fact of me watching, but iirc it's more an adult character drama less uni character drama, which I like.
Rewatched it. It has some uni, but it's nice that quite a lot of the show isn't shot on campus and the plots don't really revolve around uni life overly. Upon rewatch, there's this scene where I didn't notice before just how beautiful Fluke (Mork) is. Damn. Although I wish Mork was as brazen with his romantic relationship as he is about getting into fights. haha Oh well. >< I honestly think Why R U has spoiled me rotten about this sort of thing. lol
5. HIStory2: Boundary Crossing
Taiwanese Special - 2018, 8 episodes
-
6. HIStory2: Right or Wrong
Taiwanese Special - 2018, 8 episodes
-
7. HIStory3: Make Our Days Count
Taiwanese Special - 2019, 20 episodes
I detest tragic endings.
-
8. HIStory3: Trapped
Taiwanese Special - 2019, 20 episodes
Of all the HIStory stories, this one is my favorite. But I prefer grittier, adult characters in general, so... :)
Edit:
I've actually watched this several times now. It's still really good. I love BL cop dramas. :)
-
9. HIStory: My Hero
Taiwanese Special - 2017, 4 episodes
I don't really like gender swap stories, so it was meh for me.
-
10. HIStory: Obsessed
Taiwanese Special - 2017, 4 episodes
-
11. HIStory: Stay Away From Me
Taiwanese Special - 2017, 4 episodes
-
12. I Am Your King
Thai Drama - 2017, 5 episodes
I love the game; I would've totally played it when I was younger/unmarried. lol Overall, though, the plot was pretty thin. Watch if bored.
-
13. I Am Your King 2
Thai Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
This one was better than the first, but still far from top tier BL.
-
14. Long Time No See
Korean Drama - 2017, 5 episodes
I liked this one quite a lot. Not a uni drama. haha
-
15. Method
Korean Movie - 2017
Ermmm... this one sort of left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't hate it, but definitely didn't feel great after watching it.
-
16. Mr. X and I
Chinese Drama - 2015, 4 episodes
Didn't really care for it.
-
17. Mr. X and I Season 2
Chinese Drama - 2015, 6 episodes
Meh. Not my thing.
-
18. TharnType
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
Another "classic" BL. Surely everyone has watched this already. If not, get to it. ;) Love the steamy, passionate kisses that make you swoon. <3
-
19. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
I know it's not /technically/ BL, but the novel is and they did the best they could under the laws they have to abide.
I'm rewriting my comments: This is directly after binge watching for the fourth time. I still cried my eyes out. The Untamed is one of my absolute favorite stories of all times across all mediums... definintely top favorite live action drama. There is just nothing that can compare. I wish I could purchase a dvd of it so I can have it forever. I hope I can always find it online somewhere so I can visit this amazing universe every now and again.
-
20. Theory of Love
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
I'm going to rewatch this at some point. I liked it a lot.
Edit: I've watched this again. I think the reason I love this show so much is how painful it is. Like my god, I feel that unrequited love through right to my bones. Gun and Off just sold it. (And I ship them, so... lol). I can't explain, really, why I love it outside of that. It's probably one I'll revisit every now and again. And I adore the open theme song. It's one of my favorites... like top ten favorite openers.
-
21. Love by Chance
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
Can I call this a classic BL? Loved it. (Course, I'm a fan of Saint, so...)
-
22. Like Love
Chinese Drama - 2014, 15 episodes
Low production value. Okay to watch if bored or waiting for the next round of weekly shows to air.
-
23. Together with Me
Thai Drama - 2017, 13 episodes
I'm just going to copy/paste my notes:
"I love, love, love the 2 MC's passion. Love it!! The three girls are complete bitches - arrrgh!! And the friend group is goals. I wish I had a friend group like that. Seriously. This show is really great. I laugh out loud, like belly laugh, every episode, too. "
-
24. Together with Me: The Next Chapter
Thai Drama - 2018, 13 episodes
Copy/pasting from my notes for this one as well:
"Loved it! This was real life drama... something that could actually happen. I've gotten really attached to these characters, spending so much time with them. (I chose to skip Bad Romance because I read Korn/Knock don't have much screen time.) Everything wrapped up nice and tidy at the end, so although I was sad it was over, I'm very happy. Also, stay til the end credits. OMG! So funny! Again, loved, loved, loved it."
-
25. Pornographer
Japanese Drama - 2018, 6 episodes
Let me just put down here for the record how much I love this show. Love it. Love it. Love it. Takezai has /the/ sexiest voice hands down. ~swoon~
-
26. Love's Coming
Thai Movie - 2014
Meh
-
27. Seven Days: Monday - Thursday
Japanese Movie - 2015
You can tell this is an older BL. The kissing scenes were very timid as if the actors themselves were unsure. Still worth a watch.
-
28. Seven Days: Friday - Sunday
Japanese Movie - 2015
This second one, you can tell the actors have gained some confidence in their characters, but still an 'old school' BL; you can really tell.
-
29. Takumi-kun Series 1: And The Spring Breeze Whispers
Japanese Movie - 2007
Takumi series overall... Nice to pass the time. Not the best, but I did enjoy it.
-
30. Takumi-kun Series 2: Rainbow Colored Glass
Japanese Movie - 2009
-
31. Takumi-kun Series 3: The Beauty of Detail
Japanese Movie - 2010
-
32. Takumi-kun Series 4: Pure
Japanese Movie - 2010
-
33. Takumi-kun Series 5: That, Sunny Blue Sky
Japanese Movie - 2011
-
34. En of Love: TOSSARA
Thai Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
I made myself finish it since it's only four eps, but this first in the En of Love series was horrible. I really just couldn't stand the first male lead. He was very awkward and the two did not have any chemistry at all. It was painful to watch.
-
35. I Love You As A Man: Part 2
Chinese Movie - 2015
Copying from personal comments:
"Ended on a cliffy... comments said that China banned the contiuation of a part 3; which is sad. But I also read in the comments that the book has a happy ending, so I'm okay with it. I am curious about what An did to change Mai's mom's mind, though."
-
36. As If You Whisper
Korean Movie - 2019
I really liked this one. I had to purchase it on vimeo to watch it, but that's okay. :)
-
37. The Boy Next Door
Korean Drama - 2017, 15 episodes
This was just super cute and funny.
-
38. No Touching At All
Japanese Movie - 2014
-
39. My Baby Bright
Thai Special - 2018, 1 episode
-
40. Does the Flower Bloom?
Japanese Movie - 2018
Very low-key drama. I enjoyed it.
-
41. Destiny Calls
Thai Special - 2019, 1 episode
-
42. 2Wish
Thai Special - 2019, 2 episodes
-
43. Some More
Korean Movie - 2018
Same company that made As If You Whisper, so again, I had to purchase it on vimeo. I did enjoy this one as well. I'll hope the company can begin to make longer dramas at some point. :)
-
44. 3 Will Be Free
Thai Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Not strictly BL (poly relationship BBG) and most definitely not a romance. I really enjoyed this one a lot.
-
45. Present Perfect
Thai Movie - 2017
I really liked this one, the ending was a bit melancholy, but the 2nd movie made everything alright. Perfect, indeed. :)
-
46. You Had Me At Hello
Thai Movie - 2018
-
47. Why R U?
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
I watched as it aired. Hopefully they'll fix the audio at some later date. Otherwise, real passion here. Real kisses. Tor and Fight sizzle and Saifah and Zon are super sweet. I'm probably going to revisit this one later. ^.^
Edit: I've now watched this four times. (I really just love ZaintSee together.)
-
48. En of Love: Love Mechanics
Thai Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
Much, much better than the first one. :)
-
49. Guardian
Chinese Drama - 2018, 40 episodes
Not BL and definitely not a romance, but strong bromance for sure. I really love this genre. The leads were handsome and had great chemistry and in fact I loved the entire team. The ending scene had me sobbing. Not tragic or sad, but bittersweet.
-
50. Sotus
Thai Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
I liked the story okay, but dang, they didn't really get together until the last two episodes. So more like a bromance from 1-13, then... oh, I decided to go ahead and accept your love, we're boyfriends now. :/ IDK, I would've prefered a lot more BL in this BL.
-
51. Sotus S
Thai Drama - 2017, 13 episodes
It was cute. I liked it... just wish there was more passion.
-
52. He's Coming To Me
Thai Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
I really liked this for some reason.
-
53. Until We Meet Again
Thai Drama - 2019, 17 episodes
I love Fluke; he's an amazing actor. He nailed the shy uke perfectly, which made me crazy. I really can't stand timidity in BL... two reasons: male hormones and love/desire. Anyway! The story was great. I cried a whole lot. It's one of those that should be 'must watch' on everyone's BL list.
-
54. Red Wine in the Dark Night
Thai Movie - 2015
If you watch UWMA and then watch this one, you'll really see Fluke's acting chops. I mean, the two characters are night and day. He turned on the sexy up to ten. The ending is up in the air, but I found one that makes sense in the comment section... you can read it there.
-
55. 2 Moons 2
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
The change in actors and the complete redo of the story threw me off, but I might hazard to say I like this one better. However, they left it on a cliffy, so hopefully S2 comes out soon!
-
56. The Moment
Thai Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
Super cute short.
-
57. 2gether
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
Watched it as it aired. I really liked this one. Bright and Win are super cute. I love the OST of this show - it's great.
I want to add a final comment just having finished watching the finale. This show had NO KISSING!! It's got one toe over the BL/bromance line, that's it. Super disappointing. Like someone commented on Twitter; we didn't necessarily need super hot Why RU kisses, a true love kiss like in SOTUS, at least, would've been great. This is the one disappointing factor for the show and why I knocked a full point off.
-
58. My Engineer
Thai Drama - 2020, 14 episodes
Watched as it aired. I think this will be a massively underated show, but it's really cute. Again, I don't like timidity in my BL, but at least we got some real kisses. :)
What I really enjoyed about this show was all four couples got equal time. Even though my ship is RamKing, I didn't mind watching about the others, (2nd ship FrongThara). My Engineer isn't groundbreaking, it's not heavy - it's pure cuteness, sweetness, and fun to watch. They teased a Season 2 at the end and I really, really hope so. It deserves it. (And I want more RamKing. lol) I will probably watch it again straight through at some point. Watching once a week, sometimes you miss things.
-
59. Double Mints
Japanese Movie - 2017
The Japanese can really spin a dark and gritty tale. It's a bit messed up, but I still liked it. The end is open, iirc.
-
60. Bangkok G Story
Thai Drama - 2017, 20 episodes
Whew! Those boys! ~fans self~
-
61. Bangkok G Story: Samet Island
Thai Special - 2019, 3 episodes
Lord have mercy. This is just strictly eye candy and tbh, I'm okay with it. ><
-
62. My Bromance
Thai Drama - 2016, 12 episodes
I would've enjoyed it better if they hadn't kept flipping back and forth between the past and present. It was a little frustrating at times. Otherwise, I liked it.
-
63. Present Still Perfect
Thai Movie - 2020
I can't express how happy this movie made me. It's the seamless continuation of the first one. Perfect ending. I loved it.
-
64. Because of You
Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
Very short and bingeable in one sitting. I really liked this one. It was sweet and all the couples had a HEA.
-
65. Step for You
Korean Movie - 2018
Super cute short over on Vimeo. I liked it very much. Ahn Dae Kyum, who plays the dancer, is a lovely man to look at. ;)
-
66. Queer Movie Beautiful
Korean Movie - 2018
Have to support the small companies making good BL drama, especially in S.K, where it isn't as readily available.
Anyway, this one is very creative and different with a good message about self-acceptance. It was a bit painful to watch in a way, because I can relate to not always liking myself or having confidence. I sprung for the premium edition with the director's cut; so I'm not sure if the super hot scene was in the original, but that alone was worth the price. ^.^
It does have a happy ending, btw. :)
-
67. I Love You As A Man
Chinese Movie - 2014
IIrc, it was low budget, but it was pretty okay. I'm dropping a comment long after I watched and I've watched a ton other since then. ha!
-
68. My Friendship
Thai Movie - 2020
Two episode, low-budget short. Sad ending, but it was bearable because it was so short, I had no investment in the characters.
-
69. NightTime
Thai Drama - 2019, 3 episodes
Another short to fill my time between series. This had a sad-ish ending, but at least one can imagine it working out happy at a later date. Up to the very end, this one oozed cuteness.
-
70. Before Your Eyes Stop
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
This was nice to watch. S. Korea is dipping their toes into BL waters and I like it. I feel like if something like this were made into a full length drama, and we could see some real character development and passion, I'd be on cloud nine. Now if they were to do a Joseon era BL, I'd die happy on the spot. haha
-
71. En of Love: This is Love Story
Thai Drama - 2020, 3 episodes
This is the third in a series. I liked it more than Tossara, (which, imo, was awful!!), but less than Love Mechanics. A couple complaints: 1. in ep two, there was a literal, (I watched the bar), THREE whole minutes of absolute dead silence with nothing but Nuea staring at his computer. This is a huge no-no. Whoever is in charge of editing should be fired. 2. Huge leaps in the story. I haven't read the novel. I don't know what's going on. I have nothing in which to connect dots sometimes, so I depend on the show to inform me in some way. At the very end, we're tossed ahead to a party. The cake says, "congratulations." Congrats for what? I have no clue what the party is for. Is it Praram's birthday? Is for when Nuea and Praram become official? Did he graduate? I have no clue. I suppose it doesn't really matter, but some context would be nice.
I know this is long and I'm not sure this series is worth my time to type this out, but just because we're all hungry for any BL, doesn't mean we shouldn't have standards.
-
72. Red Balloon
Taiwanese Drama - 2017, 8 episodes
Nice little short series. I really liked the low key, build-up relationship of the main couple. Although it is sad in the middle, the end worked out okay. The flip-flopping on the timeline isn't my favorite thing, but it wasn't as bad as, say, My Bromance. There is a side story intertwined that's pretty depressing, but it works out in the end also. Definitely okay to pass the time if bored.
-
73. He She It
Thai Drama - 2019, 3 episodes
Had to wait a lifetime to get that last ep of this very short series. Was it worth the wait? I'm a little on the fence about it. However, all three eps taken together, this is a lovely little show. It's pretty dark, but stays out of what I consider "horror" territory. So, I like that. I like angst-y, messed up stories and this is it. Which leads to a bit of a conundrum with He She It; I like dark, gritty stories, but I also do not like tragic stories... this is right on that fine line. Anyway, worth the watch. The actors are great; good chemistry. Watch Ingredients for the flip-side of what these young men can do. ;) Also, Jeff's voice is so lovely.
-
74. Life Senjou No Bokura
Japanese Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
I read the manga before-hand, so I was going into this a bit biased. It followed the story fairly closely. My only real complaints were mainly esthetics and again (a common complaint with me generally) with the actors not really fully committing to their roles as lovers... they seemed a bit stiff with each other. Otherwise, it was good... leaning on the cute side as opposed to the steamy side; which is okay. And thank goodness they ended it where they did. The end of the manga RIPS your heart out and stomps on it. lol
-
75. Ghost Boyfriend
Chinese Movie - 2016
Watching random shows on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This one fits the bill, pretty much. I'm a sucker for ghost love stories. I know it doesn't make sense because I don't like tragic ends, but these are more like bittersweet, not tragic. I mean the love was so strong, the deceased come back. :) Anyway, plot was simple and straightforward and it gave me something to watch. The only bad, bad, bad thing is the last 20 mins were not subtitled, so I had to go down into the comments (on YT) and get the gist of what happens. I was disappointed, yes, but the true love's kiss and the tame bed scene made up for it. ^.^
TL;DR - watch if bored. Be prepared for no subs for the climax of the movie. v.v
-
76. Sakristan
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Just finished watching the last ep of this mini-series. I've read the comments on the page and I'm going to go against popular opinion. I liked it. Where someone might say it's unpolished, I'll say it's raw. "Bad acting", I took for realism. And the absolute cherry on top of everything is the music. My god, the music was just beautiful. Was this show different? Absolutely, but that shouldn't be a negative. I went into it with no expectations and came out of it pleasantly surprised. Just don't compare it to or expect it to be like any of the Thai dramas.
-
77. Love Trap
Chinese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
Very, very glad it had a happy ending. This short series was far from ground breaking, but definitely okay to pass the time. The only complaint I have is the "Mom says 'no' trope". It's probably a cultural thing, but for me it's beyond aggravating. I certainly wouldn't tell my late 20s daughter what to do with her life, and I definitely wouldn't expect her to listen! Why is it that way with some of these BL? argh! That and the the jealous girlfriend thing. LOL Well, like I said, this show is nothing extraordinary, but is a solid okay.
-
78. Drama Festival 2014: The Diary of Heong Yeong Dang
Korean Special - 2014, 1 episode
I was finally able to watch this movie. I adore Joseon dramas, but I'm more used to series than movies, so the content was very compact and didn't go very deep into the normal intrigues a full series would. The BL in this is very, very, very, very light. No kisses, just a couple of embraces, which for S.K. in 2014 was probably brave. I don't know.
And I usually hate tragedies, but I just wasn't invested in the characters so it had little affect on me. It was sad, but not heartbreaking. Overall, I don't have much to comment on since it was merely enough to pleasantly pass the time while I multi-tasked a project.
-
79. The Moment Since
Thai Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
Super cute. Much like the first one; it's so innocent and sweet, my teeth hurt. >< Someone in YT comments suggested a final series called The Moment Forever - I agree wholeheartedly! :)
-
80. Roommate
Thai Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
Cute little short series. Nothing ground breaking, nor even memorable, but definitely a time passer.
-
81. Love Next Door 2
Thai Movie - 2015
I like this second one much, much better. There is more of a story to it. And in essence, there's three couples going on. KaoNut, SomjitBua, and GameHanoi. Even though this is a movie, they did a good job with character development.
For an older movie set, (LND and LND2), I was pretty impressed. But it may be my exposure to more adult-content, gay Thai movies is still pretty limited. The current batches of BL series are still tip-toeing around gay sexuality... hopefully that's changing -- they could take some cues from these older gay movies. The target audience is probably different, though, so I'll take that into consideration. :)
Anyway, nothing stellar about this movie, but I did like it well enough.
-
82. Love Next Door
Thai Movie - 2013
I don't really have any comments on this one. It was entertaining to pass the time. I did chuckle a few times. There's nothing really sweet or cute about this. It's raunchy and fairly explicit, but that's okay. It is what it is.
-
83. Still 2gether
Thai Special - 2020, 5 episodes
Just finished watching the final episode of this (add-on) short series. Again 'Wat and Tine are super cute in this. There wasn't any drama to speak of, so I feel like it's more a follow up to the main story. And thank god, at the very last moment, we get our kiss. I think I would've, and maybe the whole fandom, would've lost our collective sh!t if that didn't happen. haha!! Anyway. I liked this series... we'll just pretend this is still a part of the first season and go with that. Also, all the side couples were super cute too.
I would like to see more of Bright and Win, but I'm not going to hold my breath on this cp. I don't feel like they have the kind of true connection that say MaxTul, MewGulf, or ZaintSee have irl.
-
84. Gameboys
Filipino Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
Just finished watching the finale. Gameboys is one of the top tier shows of 2020. Everything was just so spot on. I'm having a bit of trouble articulating how much I love this show. I was crying and laughing throughout the series; often laughing while the tears from a previous scene were still falling. And the final episode was no different. It was a very satisfying ending. I will definitely miss watching the boys every week. Highly recommend.
I'll probably go back and watch it straight through at some point since that hits a bit differently than when waiting a week between eps.
-
85. Mr.Heart
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Omgosh!! Super CUTE!!! And completely charming drama.
Like a lot of the S.K. bl dramas coming out, it's much, much too short. I really hope that S.K. can give us more/longer dramas in the future.
-
86. My Rosy Life, His Rosy Passion
Japanese Movie - 2014
Okay, so I randomly found this movie. Holy-smoly! I was not prepared for soft core porn. The story itself was interesting and I liked it okay. It could've been more developed, but for a one hour movie, it was passable.
I want to comment here that these kiddos that think some of these Thai BL dramas are porn, should watch this. LOL!! The comparison is like the Victorians thinking showing ankles is scandalous. >.<
-
87. Location
Thai Movie - 2020
This was super wholesome, but had a surprisingly passionate kiss scene. ^.^ They pretty much covered every single Thai BL series trope in one short movie. Not that I'm complaining. haha HEA, too, so that's good. Cute to watch to pass the time, but zero rewatch value. ><
-
88. Theory of Love : Special Episode "Stand By Me"
Thai Special - 2020, 1 episode
Theory of Love is one of my top favs so I was thrilled to see a special ep. I enjoyed seeing the guys back onscreen again, no doubt, but I'm finding it difficult articulating how I feel about this. I liked it very well, but could only give it a 9/10 . Same type of drama... Khai should've came clean right away and Two and Bone should've been there to help explain... end of story. Also if they're both so much in love with each other, why no kisses?
This I will never, ever understand. When I was first dating my husband, we couldn't keep off each other and we still kiss after all these years even if the fire has dimmed. This is my biggest complaint with a big portion of BL drama. I understand fantasy, but I need a little bit of real in there. lol <--- ToL: SE got to get my rant this time. haha Well, they should've included at least one true love's kiss. Just sayin'.
I'll add that I don't know of anyone who is invulnerable to Gun's tears. The end scene just got me. (even without the smooch. ~grump~lol)
-
89. My Day
Filipino Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
I forgot to come over here and leave comments after I finished watching the last episode. I actually have a LOT to say about this series. First off, a big portion of this show is super cringe-y. Like a lot, a lot. Some of it is so dumb, I wondered why I was watching it. However, the other portion of it is so good, that it offsets the cringe factor. Like the good parts are really good. Huge, huge kudos to the actors for the love scenes. They looked legit. I really appreciated that. I love the supportive family/friends. And I love that Ace stood up to his dad. I really don't like adult children kowtowing to their parents when they truly believe in something, so that was good. The actors were fully committed to their characters, even if some of the scenes were ridiculous. Lastly, the end theme song... so pretty. I love it.
I do have a pretty big problem with the ex-girlfriend. 1. stalking 2. breaking and entering. 3. theft 4. illegally broadcasting a recording of two non-consenting people 5. attempted murder <----- this girl should be IN JAIL! What happens? 'I know how much you love me, it's okay.' No. No. No. It's not okay. Nothing about any of that is okay. UGH!! Very, very bad when a person doing criminal things doesn't get punished all because she loved him so much. Not a good lesson here. I should dock a whole star off just for that.
Anyway, it was pretty good. I don't feel like I wasted time. I saw something about a S2, so I'll look for that and hope they remedy some of the cringe. :)
-
90. Playboy and the Gang of Cherry
Thai Movie - 2017
I did read the comments before I took the plunge into this very bizarre, graphic, disturbing movie. I sorted out the "plot" somewhat, but there's just no making sense of it, really. A gang of drug dealers and prostitutes... I get it, but damn. Some of those scenes were almost too much for even me. And fair warning, this is graphic, violent sex. With a very heavy dose of torture. Kudos to the actors for playing in this so fearlessly. That's about all I've got. lol
To be honest, though, I'll probably still be thinking of this tomorrow. If there were more story, the characters could really be developed here, but alas time constraints in the movie format. To me, more character/plot development, less violence, this could've been good. I feel like it's just threads of a story that leaves us with, sadly, in essence, torture porn. :/ I probably should rate it lower, but I have to credit the acting at least even if I don't care for the content so much.
91. Craving You
Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
Nothing ground breaking, but super cute and (pun intended) sweet.
92. Like in the Movies
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Like in the Movies (Gaya Sa Pelikula) is so good. I loved every single heart-wrenching moment of it. The acting, the cinematography, the music... all of it just top notch. Even the annoying af "I'm an ally" sister who I wanted to punch in ep7 for pushing Karl too hard. The ending was thankfully a happy open-ended one and to me was perfect for their story. It left it to, not resolve, but continue. I can't even complain about how short it was because as is, it really packed a punch. ~chef's kiss~
It should've included a tissue warning though. v.v
93. Love by Chance 2
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
It was pretty okay. The thing I liked most about this show is Can's unabashed love. Once he gave his heart, it was given fully and freely. He's unashamed of his love and unafraid to show it. He's a wonderful foil to Tin's more restrained personality. This pairing works really well for me. Ae's story is flimsy and uninteresting. They could've left it completely out and I would've been fine with it - same for Techno and Kla, tbh.
Let's be real here, this whole drama was saved by Plan's cuteness. ^.^
94. Mood Indigo
Japanese Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
It's been quite some time since I watched this. I watched The Pornographer first, then this as a back story, which at the end ties into the first one. I didn't like it as well; I do remember that. I've watched TP three times and this one only once if that tells you anything. lol I still think Takezai has a super sexy voice. Mmmm. >.<
I'd love, love, love to see a third installment where Rio comes back to Kuzumi and they live HEA. :)
95. BKPP
Thai Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
Heart wrenching. Exquisite. Powerful. Painful. Beautiful. You can't be a BL fan and not watch this stunning work of art. That's all I have to say about it. (at least for now coming fresh off the finale)
96. My Extra Ordinary
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I didn't much care for it. It's not the worst thing I've watched, but something felt off. It's either lacking the unnamed thing or maybe overall it just couldn't quite make it to where it needed to be. I honestly don't know.
Some of this review is going to sound really shallow and harsh, but I'm a human, what can I say? I didn't like the looks of the main cp. I appreciated that they look more like us normal, everyday folks, but I'd rather watch eye candy. And if I'm going to get a trash ending like this one, the boys better be pretty. (I know I'm horrible, so no need to tell me.) I've always been of the opinion that actors are actors and are supposed to look good, unless they're not, so I just didn't like watching them. Secondly, I didn't feel any chemistry between them... more like brothers than any bromance I've ever watched. I just couldn't see them having sex at all... I feel like they'd squick themselves out, then bust up laughing. lol
Anyway, points for effort, but honestly, with everything else plus the tragic ending, (which I'm very vocal about HATING!!!), this show was a waste of my time. :/
97. My Gear And Your Gown
Thai Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
Cute uni drama. Not much to discuss as it is pretty much the same as all the other uni dramas... nothing groundbreaking here.
98. Boyband Love
Filipino Drama - 2020, 9 episodes
This show is cheesy and low budget, but I liked it. It was sincerely done and it showed.
The one thing I docked a full star off my rating was the final episode. It was so disappointing I don't even have the words. I understand the show itself is about a boy band, but ep 9 was a little meta for me... basically it was 20 mins of music, maybe ten minutes of show, and six minutes for the open and close. They could've extended the final ep angst for half the ep, had make-up sex at the end, then closed with them doing a song at the concert. I feel like a lot of potential went down the drain, but maybe they were over it by then... that's sort of how it felt. ><
Worth the watch if bored for something a bit different.
99. Oxygen
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
Although this isn't groundbreaking by any stretch and there were a couple of cringe-y moments, I loved how mellow and low-key this show was. It's just like Sol's warm milk -a comfort drama. Even the conflict is mild. Solo and Gui are too cute; there's no real drama in their relationship. They're unashamed and straight-forward. I like that. I also like Kao's straight forwardness in his pursuit of Phu. As the side cp, they're also very cute. The only cringe arc is the tertiary cp: Khim and Dr. Petch. I don't have any comments on that whole thing. smh.
TL/DR: I liked it very well, and I'd watch it again.
100. Quaranthings
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Binge watched all eight eps. I don't really have much to say about it. It was pretty straight forward. I was bored on a Sunday evening and it did very well to chew up some of my time. I appreciate it for that. That fact that this took the #100 spot of finished BL dramas makes me feel a little sad, but it could've been worse. The ending made me very happy, so half a star for that.
