Better than most BL series out there

20 minutes of short film can make you feel too much if it's written well, and this film was the perfect example of it. The storyline is heartbreaking yet beautiful because of its realistic essence. "The screen is the only place where you allow me to love you." This quote by the character played by Bible really hit hard. Garn loves Tul as a lover, for a long time, but Tul wants something else. He just wants a normal family, a normal kid, a normal life. He doesn't love Garn as a lover; his love for him isn't in a romantic way, and that's slowly eating Garn up. Knowing that the other person will never love you in a romantic way but still being with them for years is a true type of heartbreaking horror, like it's even worse than a normal heartbreak and being lonely. "I can love your daughter as well." Gosh, this quote even makes everything worse but it's adorable at the same time. For all the years he continued to love Tul, and now when Tul finally got what he always wanted (a family), Garn even decided to love his daughter as he watches his happiness from a distance. He was happy for him, but he wasn't happy with him.

At the end, he died with the same love for Tul, the same hopeless, unrequited love, and Tul decided to name his daughter after Garn to always have his memory. Heart-wrenching.The script was good, the acting was effortless, and the chemistry was nice.

To be honest, I kind of wish it were a series because I felt some parts of the story needed to have a spotlight, for example, exploring their relationship in depth and so on. Overall, it was a good and definitely well-acted short film.

The cinematography is soo good

I definitely have to say, this drama was well-written, with a decent script, decent acting, and calmingly amazing cinematography.

It only took me about ten minutes to realize that this drama was going to be good, and I was not disappointed. The first episodes felt like magic to me. The tension between the characters was something that I haven't seen much in BL or even straight dramas. Even though the kiss in the third episode felt rushed and left me in surprise and true confusion.

The characters were amazingly written, beautifully flawed, and realistic, such that you could probably relate to them.

Jihyun was the character that I personally could relate to the most. A countryside boy who is scared to do a lot of things, especially in a busy, bustling city. Even though I was born in a big city, there are still a lot of things I'm afraid to do in a hustling place like this. He was adorable, sensitive, and emotional, which I adore a lot.
Now, talking about Jaewon, I feel so bad for him. Whatever stupid things he has done, I never feel furious at him because I could understand his actions and fears. I had all the sympathy for him. Life can be extra tough when you have a traumatic old memory haunting you everywhere, but it's fine once you overcome it and start anew, just like he did. After encountering the accident at the beach, he was afraid that he would unintentionally hurt Jihyun just like how he hurt his younger brother. The guilt was eating him up, but it was good for him that he decided to start anew and overcome his fears. It's nice to see character development done right.
Other characters were nice as well, especially the girl Aeri. I genuinely wanted to hug her sometimes; she was a good friend and a cool person. I hope I meet somebody like her. Some characters were annoying, but I guess they did a good job being annoying.

The cinematography was something that you could not ignore, and it shows the second you enter into the drama. Phenomenal cinematography with amazing shots and a visually pleasing aesthetic. There is no doubt that good direction and cinematography can make any film or series even better.

Overall, it was one of the best K-BL dramas I've ever seen because K-BL dramas have never set my standards high, but we definitely having High standard with with this one.

An easy 10/10 for me

I can't express the emotions through words that this movie made me feel. A perfect movie after a nearly perfect drama. The awkwardness, the fear, the hesitation they went through while meeting each other's family is something you can feel in your soul. Adachi's family's reaction was too wholesome and priceless. I love how the whole family cheered and accepted their relationship, and I'm really glad Kurosawa's family also accepted this. It made me believe in humanity again. Lol.The scene where Kurosawa said that he would go alone to meet his parents shows how Kurosawa wanted to endure his parents' decision alone, but Adachi telling him they'll go together shows that they are still changing and improving with each other. Definitely one of my favorite scenes.Overall, the movie was too good. It shows that no matter how different you are or how many flaws you have, you always find a way to change with the one you love.

Sweet enough but rushed

It started off really well, but towards the end, it felt rushed. I think it's a common problem with k BL dramas; they're often quite rushed. Either they need to make the episodes longer, or they need to increase the number of episodes, in my opinion.

I'm personally not a big fan of love triangles, but I'm not against them either if they're done right. However, I didn't like it here; it just didn't feel right.
And one thing that makes me wonder is why they didn't feel the need to talk after their first kiss. I mean, they kissed each other when it actually wasn't the best time to do something like that, and the next day it felt like nothing happened. Isn't it a bit unrealistic? And personally I'm not a big fan of it's writing.

Overall, it's sweet, but I still feel like it's rushed and could've been better.

Could've been epic but writers casually decided to made mess in some parts

I would be honest, I only watched this series for Vegas and Pete, and especially for Vegas in particular, but I was left disappointed with their screen time and writing.

Since I mentioned them, let's start with Vegas and Pete. I already said I watched this series just for them, and they both catch my attention the most. Honestly, I always get hooked to psychologically complex characters like Vegas and Pete, which is definitely the reason why they caught my attention the most. The portrayal of highly complex characters like them required way more screen time than the director gave them in the series. In almost 14 hours of series, they only get like 14 minutes, which left their story badly portrayed. Okay, so personally, I'm not against their relationship, and I won't say that writing controversial and psychology messed up relationship is particularly bad, but it takes extra efforts and care to rightly portray them. But whatever happens in the series is way more acceptable and better than the novel. In the novel, Pete was raped by Vegas, not just one time but over and over again, and in the novel, there was no internal conflict as in the series. As in the series, both were struggling with daddy issues, but in the novel, it wasn't like that, and I refused to believe that somebody can fall for their rapist. I get that it's the Stockholm effect or a machonist n sadist relationship, but still it's hard for me to except novel version of vegas.

So I'm quite glad they didn't follow the novel, and they made a lot of changes, but they definitely deserved and needed more screen time, like at least 3-4 episodes, or even more, to show their relationship dynamic better, and lastly, this could be a subjective opinion of mine, but if Vegas had died when he was shot, it would have been so much better, not because I hate him or something, but I think that tragedy death would have been so much better.

The sex scene of Vegas and Pete doesn't have a verbal consent, but since Pete kissed him first, we all have assumed that Pete gave his consent. Like really??? Should it be considered as consent??? But I can tolerate their sex scene more than Kinn and Porche scene. Kinn and Porche had sex twice, while Porche was unconscious, and yes, you can say that "Porche started liking him", but he was drugged, he was freaking unconscious, his consent at that period wouldn't be considered as consent. And we have to admit their relationship was as messed up not as much as Vegas and Pete but their relationship was everything but healthy. I've to admit, Kinn and Porche gave us some sweet romance scenes compared to Vegas and Pete cause these two bitches were only having scenes which could mentally mess you up.

Porche as a character is quite admirable in my eyes, a loving and hardworking brother and I would be lying if I don't say that I'm a little biased when it comes to Porche cause I was able to connect to him with older sibling who is a parent to younger sibling part. But Porche as a lover is quite stupid.
Talking about Kinn, he started off as a really strong character in start but I ended up not loving that character very much, they both turned out blind in love. And their relationship didn't have depth and internal conflict. For example, we get to see why Vegas and Pete fell for each other but Can we name a single thing why Porche and Kinn fell for each other despite their sex appeal to each other. Probably no and all I'm trying to say is it would've been better if they would've shown us their POV and internal feeling when they were falling for each other for more depth but this is completely my subjective opinion because I would not lie, I was personally looking forward to Vegas and Pete more than Kinn and Porche so this could be possible that I was not able to see their relationship depth. I haven't read their story in novel so I can't compare series with book but I must say that Kinn was quite toxic in series and he was even more toxic in novel. [ only read a small portion about Kinn in novel of Pete and Vegas story ] so that's all for them.

Now let's talk about the 3rd couple, Kim and Chay. You can hate me for saying this but in my opinion their relationship was unnecessary like both of their roles could be utilized better and yes I get it they look cute together and stuff but their relationship was nothing but an eye candy to watchers. But I must say they were the only sane couples in series and I actually was chill about it until I found out their real age gap was 10 years. Honestly 10 years of age gap is not the matter of scandal just because my subjective morals do not approve that but what I found scandals is that Chay was a minor at that time which I personally could not tolerate but I'm glad they got decent scenes and even off screen Jeff was pretty decent as well what I am able to see so far.
Chay's internal conflict is easy to break down, a young teenager fell in love with his fav singer and it made sense but I'm still not able to find out what's Kim's reason to love him back, like what was his internal depth? So still there is a lack of internal conflict writing like Kinn and Porche.
And talking about Kim as a character, I quite like him, he was just a one step away from becoming my fav character. He had flaws which made sense. His character arc was fine even there are still somethings which I didn't like about him but I can outright those with his decency.

Takkhun, he was quite an iconic character even a lot of people find him quite annoying which is understandable cause a Takkhun in real life would be an annoying a-hole but I quite like him in the series, he added the extra spice into it.

Talking about this series overall, It was good but it could've been so much better, it could've been one those bl series which could easily go in history because Mafia bl theme is quite rare I guess. It's always high school or university or sometimes office romance. But bl with mafia theme would be so fucking epic but the mafia theme got lost somewhere in bl. They were not able to consistently maintain mafia and bl together. And the plot of the series?? I dislike it. Don't ask me why I just personally didn't like where the series was going, it almost looked like some forced weird and alienated plot that made you go like wtf?? One side of me was so curious that how Porche's mom ended up like that and why but we ain't getting a second season so I think it would remain just a curiosity.

Other things about the series such as cinematography, I love it. I love the angles, shots, and visuals.
Acting, the cast did a great job, and some actors just nailed it, such as Bible as Vegas. Probably the best decision the makers made about the series, and considering it was his first project, he did such a good job. I personally feel like nobody could've played Vegas better than Bible. The sadistic nature, the anger, emotions, fear, guilt—everything was amazingly portrayed by him. Build as Pete, at first his acting didn't catch my attention very much, but the scenes which he did with Bible???? The smirk, the sorrow, the empathy, the emotions he conveyed, oh God, they were just fine. Takkhun, I don't know why, but I always felt that his character is hard to perform. Like all those dramatic dialogues, reactions, I just found them very overwhelming to perform, so he definitely did a great job. Porche, his acting was just perfect. Chaoticness, anger, love, sadness—he did a great job. Kinn, I might not like the character very much, but I love the actor and his acting. Kim, I personally feel like Jeff is quite opposite to his character in real life, so he definitely did an amazing job with his character. Chay, he was just 17 at that time, and it was his first time acting too, so considering all those facts, he did a great job with his role. And the rest of the actors did a good job too, making the story more enjoyable.

I love the name of the drama "Fish upon sky"

Honestly, this drama pretty much reached my expectations except in the last few episodes when P's behaviour started to irritate me a little bit. He was an insecure character for sure that's why he would always say he didn't deserve to date Mork or someone like him should not date Mork at some extent it was understandable but afterwards it started to annoy me how seriously he started to take comments of people on social media like Mork was telling and consoling him that he loves him but he just shut him up and choose to listen to someone online, pretty much annoying to me but that makes him quite realistic cause shit like this is happening to this generation.
I hated both of the shippers like they were so creepy and I liked how Pi stood up for his privacy and that was probably the most sensible thing he ever did in the drama.
Overall there were some things that I didn't like about Pi but I think I must have to say that despite his little annoying traits, I found him pretty wholesome and adorable and in the end, we got his character development which was I think great.

And speaking about Mark I think he is a little complex to break down. We are not going to ignore the fact that he did invade Pi's privacy and even when he was not admitting his feelings for Mork he just kept insisting to him that he would make him fall which I think is somewhat toxic behaviour and just by reading other reviews I realised Mork was somewhere a stalker. Another thing that I think I didn't like about him is how writers tried to make him the perfect flawless character which turns out to be pretty unrealistic I quite liked his calming nature but his stalking this and trying to force Pi's feelings for him despite his denial just kinda ruin him for being "THE CHARACTER" for me, I hope that makes sense. And talking about his female friend she was a keeper, I quite adored her until she came up with her crush and shit like you can't convince me that it didn't look forced. Writers just write that thing down to create some tension before ending and in my opinion, it didn't work but what else we can expect from a cheesy bl.

Coming to the second lead I find their relationship more realistic than the first lead and I love how much we got Duean's character development there wasn't any unnecessary drama and misunderstanding which I love and their clear communication with each other made the relationship more healthy.

Lastly, I find Duean's friends pretty hilarious as they added the extra flavour to drama just by doing some random ass stuff but I think they were awesome and great.

Overall the drama was pretty entertaining and full of fluff even you cannot expect some mind-blowing storyline, plot or character complexity but for me, it was worth watching and I love the drama's sense of humour like definitely going to be one of the dramas with my favourite comedic elements.
