Great Leads who know how to deliver
I started off the show was not interested in ML as I've seen him in other shows and was not a fan, but this has got to be his best work. He is fantastic in it. He killed the role and had this overall presence that made the show fantastic. FL, there's also someone I've not seen before, but I loved her in this role and want to see her on more shows.Overall, the plot was good. There were some confusing and annoying moments, but you must stick it out to the end. One confusing moment, for example, would be how he got night blindness, and then she recklessly healed him with medicine, but then it was never talked about why he got the night blindness and when he got healed. Not gonna lie. It was entertaining, and I thought it was really cool how, when some people were attacking people, they killed themselves and then just started showing off their skills like a ninja. Taking away the night blindness ruined that whole moment for him. An example of an annoying moment would be when we had an extra character, Pan Chi, who was secretly FL's pen pal. FL thought he was a woman but was really a man who was in love with FL. The most annoying part of this character is that he would randomly pop in and out of the show. For example, if he's going to disappear, can he stay gone?
While they only got back together in the last 20 minutes of the show (which irritates me), they still got back together, so I will take that as a win.
While some people may say she shouldn't have gotten back together with him, she obviously was still in love and cared for him even if she rejected him. So, is she supposed not to be with someone just because they upset her? And he did it for a good reason, a terrible situation, but he did have his reasons.
I wish we didn't spend so much time on the queen and her family because, quite honestly, I didn't really care about them. They were just fillers that took time away from my ML and FL.

Something is missing
In the beginning they started off really good and I was really into it. But it was like something was missing the entire show and I can't put my finger on it. It's like everything was just trying too hard and it just turned me off.For example 2nd ML like to play jokes on FL but really was in love with her yet he was able in like two episodes after meeting another female character fall in love with her and want to be with her... Also 2nd ML had a walking cane but then halfway in the story decane disappeared and it was never mentioned again and he was walking perfectly fine....
Why did so many bad things had to happen to ML? For example, in the first few episodes we see him with the assassination attempt but even that felt awkward. Then we see him back in his home country and to be meet his siblings, who again? It just felt like they were trying too hard. Like when his brother was going against him for the locust plague, it just felt like something was missing to make it make more sense.
Last but not least, the ending was not good. Like we have watched this whole show about FL and how she is not scared of the rumors that she's a jinx. Yet in the end she leaves him because she finally believes the rumor?!?!
While the show did have some good qualities and I did love the actors themselves, there are just some things that didn't quite click for this drama and I really was looking forward to it yet it didn't leave the impression I thought it would.

The love triangle that never existed
The ML and FL were never in a romantic relationship. They were friends.The ML was in 1999 and in love with a girl who ends up being the FL mom. He ends up dating her and is happy ML's best friend ends up being FL dad. When ML realizes that him being in their lives means FL will not be born, he leaves the picture. This is the part that is incomplete as we never see a love triangle between them. We barely see all three of them together in the screen.
Flashforward to 2022 and we see ML and FL meeting for the first time. also as an extra scene, you see how ML has been around protecting her in a fatherly/big brother way.
Some people think he could have been with the girl in 2022, but then he helps her get the guy (by giving the guy the umbrella and encouraging her to speak up), but the age difference and parent connection would have made this extreme weird.
The story itself was not bad, just felt rushed and incomplete in some areas.

Childhood friends to lovers but....
While this drama has a really good male lead and female lead, you don't really get the chemistry from them. The female lead just doesn't look lovey-dovey when she was supposed to be lovey-dovey. There were also a lot of unnecessary men in love with a female lead that just was annoying at best. Also, secondary love story with secondary actors took up way too much time in my book. It resulted and I was rushing through her other two roommates storyline. Like why did we spend practically the whole show obsessed over one roommate who she didn't really have any interaction with? Last but not least this show who had one character who just couldn't get the hint that the girl was not for him. I mean he saw them kissing twice, he blamed male lead for girl getting covid, even at her wedding day cried like a baby, but also when fishing with her dad heard that she was pregnant and still was in love with her like let it Go.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Asking yourself "Why am I watching this" over and over again
To some people this show was great. However, this show took a turn and did not recover.It started out great. I loved the way they did flashbacks and integrated it into the current story. But then the story just created unnecessary drama that was not needed. For example, ML has an adopted son. They created the drama so his mom came back, and the kid (the mom abandoned him as an infant) decided to go live with her and ML gave the child back (WHY). A second example was the ML and FL going back to Africa (WHY). The drama started with them in Africa there was no reason to go back.
The ML gets injured and his family hides him from the ex-wife (WHY). ML has amnesia and does not remember their reconnecting and their journey (aka the whole drama) again WHY. I really struggled to finish this drama and ended up reading about the last episodes online because I was frustrated and annoyed.
This drama could have been so good if they made it shorter and took away some of these plots.

Interesting but you need to be in it for the long haul
It started off interesting and I was definitely into the ML and FL. However, the drama they were trying so hard that it just turned me off. By episode 9 we already discovered: ML was in a car accident with FL childhood crush and he died, FL childhood crush was really ML illegitimate brother who faked his death, FL didn't really like ML and was using him because she thought that he had the other guy's heart from a heart transplant, and ML really like FL about her love for him is not genuine (to name a few). To me, it just had unnecessary drama. But love ML actor.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
