The drama is not as good as they say
We can't deny that it's a classic, I even see several new fantasy dramas with references and some things similar to ashes of love. However, I thought that in some parts they wrapped up a lot, including some scenes you could go easy to move forward without missing anything significant in the story. In others, they passed in excess memories and flashbacks. I think that if there had been 30 episodes instead of 60, the story wouldn't have been dull and it would be much more interesting to follow. I also found myself several times preferring Run Yu to Xu Feng, and even rooting for Run to stay with Jin Mi.. I think for having watched until the end of the moon before ashes of love and loving Luo Yunxi's performance as Tantai Jin.
One thing that bothered me in the story was the lack of development of some secondary characters. Mu Ci and Liuying's romance did not have enough development to like the couple, cheer and suffer for them. When the couple showed up I always went ahead because it was indifferent to me.
It's these details that made me not put ashes of love as one of my favorites. Despite being a classic, I think other more recent doramas (lost you forever, story of kunning palace, love between fairy and demon, until the end of the moon) won my heart more and this made me have a high evaluation rule especially in period/fantasy doramas.
