Multifaceted title depending on your POV
Where do i even start? I was on Team XL the whole damn way (even when i eventually found out what happened to him in the source material). Perhaps TSJ was better in the source material and was not adapted into the drama in a better way (excerpted from other people opinion) but overall his character seemed to annoy me more. CX was a complex character and honestly the dream sequence would have had more impact if it was truly the ending as i think it really fit the drama title which is him losing XY forever. I enjoyed Nian's somewhat of a growth and redemption arc and her giving XY, XL's final remnant and also understood why she was intent on telling the white lie the whole way. Grandad was the goat and i loved his leisure time on the mountains. Overall i would have loved to see more political tropes play out towards the end (heck they should have made 36 eps instead so some parts can take their time to unfold). On the fence on recommending this series for others but nevertheless it was top notch acting from all the actors involved, kudos to themVond je deze recentie nuttig?
Started with a bang then fizzles out almost instantly
Let me start out with the positives:1. Insane chemistry between WJY and WXY
2. Revenge plot that was coherent throughout
3. The overall wardrobe design was breathtaking (Especially Duke Su and Wan Ning)
4. The cast all had excellent portrayal of their characters
Now to the reason why i was inclined to only give this a solid 8/10:
1. Tempo
At some point in time the progression of the story felt weird. Please take note that this may just be a personal take.
2. Ending + Special EP
Honestly if you told me the drama ended at EP39 i would have just believed it and gave it an all around 10/10 rating
Overall:
I had no regrets taking up this drama and watching after a somewhat dry start to the early half of 2024 dramas. Some of the cinematography of the scenes was just so symbolic and breath taking. Personal advise would be to just watch up to EP39 and just take that as a closure of its own. Other than that there was nothing worth criticizing.

Power Couple, Lovely side characters
I came here for LYX, stayed for ZJY. Both Shao Yao and Hua Zhi are loveable characters that stay true to their hearts. HYT did alright with his character however in my personal opinion he lacked a bit of spectrum on his emotional acting. That however is a small demerit to an otherwise beautifully crafted show. Among all recently aired dramas for the first half of 2024 this is definitely one of the top ones on the list. Lovely to binge or to watch slowly while doing other things.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
An all time favorite
I was hesitant in picking up modern c-dramas as i was purely a historical/wuxia/xianxia/xuanhuan purebreed however this drama just blew me away. I admit i dropped it initially during the first 5 episodes due to some comments i have seen but after watching some snippets on Tiktok edits, some moments actually made my heart skip a beat. I decided to pick it back up and voila the rest was history. It's currently on my to be rewatch list however i keep stalling as i still wanted to savor the feeling i felt watching the show. One day for sure i will revisit this (when i eventually run out of c-dramas to watch). To those of you who have hear good and bad things altogether leaving you on the fence whether to pick this up or not. JUST DO IT, DROP EVERYTHING AND BINGE THIS.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Lighthearted and Cute
This show holds a special place in my heart, currently on my 5th rewatch within two years. A colorful cast with balanced focus on each characters which at times tugs at your heartstrings. TXW is much more suited for historical dramas in my opinion and this show cemented her as an actress i kept tabs on for future shows. BJT is also a phenomenal actor with a wide range which really adds on to the star studded cast. This drama is one i would always revisit whenever i needed a good laugh and cry.
