“Romance” should be removed as a genre
There is nothing romantic about this show, it’s purely a family drama, focused on generational differences, family struggles, values and how important those factors are in Asian culture. The overbearing mom was intolerable most of the show, but is quite accurate and relatable to our own. Cast and actors were great, I only stuck around for xu kai and yang zi but the first 28 episodes were not exciting, and didn’t really pick up till episode 30. This is one of those kind of shows you don’t have to focus on, can multitask with it in the background, and still not miss much. Some moments will pull at your heart strings, but that’s about it. Wish I could’ve rated it higher but not when I didn’t care for 2/3 of it.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Historic Masterpiece
Great acting, good cinematography, music, and historically accurate for the most part. Story and plot well thought out, its almost like the story is trying to tell us even if the original emperor was completely opposite in personality and actions, fate still circles back to end up with the same outcome.Might not be able to rewatch just because of the length. The beginning can be a bit confusing with so many different names and characters and whom they belong too but glad I kept going. Beautifully done.

A List actors with bad directing
This was such a disappointment. The cast and actors are great, how the director wanted them to portray their roles was terrible and even over acted at times where I know it was out of character for them. Cinematography and CGI looked great, scenes and music was enjoyable. Storyline fell flat after the first few episodes and then so much nonsense that didn’t build the plot and predictable scenes after. Hate to rate some of my favorite leads so poorly but this just wasn’t it.Also why is there a 500 character requirement to submit reviews?

It didn’t start off bad, I actually had hope and wondering why it was rated poorly, as I’m nearing the end, now I understand. The actors were good, storyline was ok.. but this repeat of obsessions, sister and brothers who keep forcing other people to love them and done in circles is played out and unoriginal. The family scheming is disgusting, the crying and attitude of the females were beyond annoying and Liu Liansi and Xiangyu and their maids are intolerable. Considering this was from 2011, it became redundant and disappointing towards the end.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
