A fight for love, and more..
"Renai battle royale" was pretty good, and I think it was really deeper than a simple highschool romance.- If you didn't see the drama :
This is not the best drama you'll see this year, but it's worth the watch. It's really thrilling and the main couple is really cute. The OST are amazing and the cast so good.
So I think it's worth your time.
- If you've seen the drama :
Here are some thoughts I have about it and I'd like to discuss :
* love is universal
The drama depicts many kinds of different love, not only teen love. Student-teacher relationships, adultery, homosexual love, friendship, maternal love... the drama shows love is universal and complex. It also advocates for "gay love" to be recognized as love, what resonates in a Japanese society where the homosexual marriage is still not recognized. I loved the drama for the way it makes us dive into teen love.
"experiencing love is part of growing up as a teenager"
*no-dating rule in Japanese highschool
In 2022, a female Japanese student sued her highschool for expelling her because she broke the no-dating rule enforced, she won the trial. When you think about it, Renai Battle royale is therefore quite realistic in a still conservative society where dating is sometimes banned in schools.
*two heroes fight for love
If the first reason for the female lead to be the love keeper is money, the implication of the male lead changes their fight in a fight for love. The main couple is so cute, their scenes so tender, I just loved their romance. The lead actress was just perfect and so good at facial expression, like she literally broke my heart. The male lead is so cute and makes their love a sweet, heartwarming relationship.
*protecting teen girls
The drama also denounce the way teen girls tend to suffer more in relationships. The headteacher says it multiple times, and there is also the story of Ema, whose boyfriend ran away after finding out she is pregnant, and the similar story of the headteacher 's friend who killed herself. The drama advocate for protecting teens and supporting them in their relationship instead of restraining them. It also makes the watcher think about the way (japanese) society sees girls who have sex or get pregnant.
note : I'm not a native English speaker, I apologize if any kinds of mistakes were to be found in this text.
these are just assumptions made by me, which you can totally disagree with.

A good way to finish 2021
Even if the story is a little bit surrealist, it’s a really good drama. The cast is great, really loved Jenna and Jihan’s actors !!! Every member of Cotton Candy is played well, and the characters are really touching. I cried a lot in this drama. I think the story of a failed idol group is original and a so good idea ! The songs are incredible, so much good work ! The production is really good as well. The little romance between the director and Jenna is sweet but it don’t take much place, I think it’ s a good choice from the scenarist. I want a second season !!!! Worth to see !Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Not your average dating show
After Single's inferno and Love signal, I was very hesitant to start a new dating show... but it was surprisingly good !At first I was scared the members of the cast were too different but it provided great chemistry and contributed to make the show even better. They're the more honest I've ever seen in a dating show and it was just so refreshing. The cast are all heartwarming and the watcher can truly feel how close they've become at the end of the month. It's truly a show about friendship.
The simplicity of the coffee truck was unexpected but just perfect, proving you don't need five stars hotels to fall in love.
I'll be waiting for season 2.

Disappointing...
I didn’t have much expectations but I’m disappointed in this drama... The love story could have been cute, but it’s actually not. I kind of felt awkward while watching this, dunno why.. I found the story a bit weird.. is the boy dating every girl he want to help ? Isn’t it just pity ? I think I’m a bit lost with all of this ... For the good aspects, the actress is great and the production is good. The actress who plays Serena is really cute as well. I don’t recommend this, but you want to give it a try go for it.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Rewatching Meteor Garden 6 years later : did this classic already get old ?
As you may or may not know, Meteor Garden won't be available on Netflix starting from the 30th of November. Of course, I'm weak and couldn't resist watching it again. My story with this drama is pretty simple : it's the first Chinese drama I've ever watched and one my first dramas. I watched it in 2020, 2 years after it was released. And I loved it. I watched it again, sometimes only some parts. Anyway, Meteor Garden holds a special place in my heart. But now that I grew up and that im not a middle school student, I changed a lot and and the drama did too.
*" I would never force a women to do anything"
If Si says this honorable sentence in episode 8, he doesn't quite respect it. Indeed he kisses Chancai by force multiple times and enterprises physical contact with her without consent many times, sometimes with violence ( episode 3 ). Not to mention Lei also kisses her without her consent.
* "Lei became a real man"
toxic masculinity in the drama
Being "a real man" means hanging out with girls Lei doesn't like ( no offense kiki ), and drowning his heartbreak into women and alcohol.
* getting out of " the shadows of autistic"
" I was a bit autistic " autism can't be cured

Friendship and love in the gaming world
Actually I am writing this review after having seen this dramas a few times already, and I just can't get tired of it. Even if it has flaws, "Falling into your smile captured the gaming world very well. Although it's quite long, you're kept interested by the subplots, the characters and of course, the love story.*The characters
The members of ZGDX (the gaming team) all have their stories and personalities, they're all interesting and equally lovable. The sub couple is so cute, I loved them.
*The main couple
The main couple is just so sweet and has great chemistry. I think Xu Kai was perfect for the role, being cold and sweet along the episodes. The leads form a cute couple that is built during the episodes.
*The theme of gaming
I thought the theme of gaming was refreshing, but maybe it's just me... The animations to depicts the fights between players were really beautiful and well made but a bit long to me.
I loved the celebrity-fans relationship and the cheering culture depiction in the subplots.
I didn't like :
* Sometimes the male lead messes too much with the female lead, to a point it's not funny anymore.
* the main couple take a lot of time to get together maybe a bit too much.

A good plot wasted.
Honestly, I am disappointed. The plot was the winning recipe : contractual relationship - first love combo, but I feel like they wasted it. The story seems to have missing parts and at some moments leaves you wondering what happened : did you miss something? or is the show just badly produced ?
Some main events just don't make sense and seem to be happening out of nowhere.
Even if they're quite funny, the chemistry between the two leads isn't the best. The female lead sometimes feels awkward and, if she's smart sometimes she just is so dumb too.
I like romantic cdramas because they know how to use the codes of the genre well, even if they don't innove, it's always entertaining.
Not this time. It wasn't bad but I feel like the job wasn't done.
Of course, there's still some good points :
#the plot : like I said, a classic.
#the humour : it's quite funny...
#the actors
