A Quick, Fun, and Addicting Watch!

heads up: these are just all my thoughts compiled in a big mess right after i've finished watching this drama!

omg okay. i'm such a sucker for time-traveling/time manipulation and this had my beautiful boy lego li and my new love greg hsu so ofc i picked it up and it was a wild ride, lemme tell you. the first episode was prob one of the best first episodes i've ever watched. cinematography and story set-up was on-point! even though it is a mystery/fantasy (wish they delved a little more into this), it was still so lighthearted and absolutely had my dying of laughter from the two leads' shenanigans. i think they switched between both timelines really well and everything blended nicely together. seeing zhen yu and jia le slowly fall in love and look forward to 10:06 each night melted my heart. they also did such a good job with promoting subway lol i was craving it after every episode. the mystery was definitely interesting to begin with. while i didn't care much for xiao wei's case, it was a great use of foreshadowing.

the romance was so so cute, but i wish we had way more. when you're limited to only 46 minutes a night, it made it hard to fully explore zhen yu and jia le's relationship, especially when most of that time was spent solving the case and gathering clues. their chemistry was amazing and i love them but just wanted to see more of them together. (this is a personal note, but i also wished they talked more about what the heck happened with the two zhen yu's and the flying horse? especially at the end when he woke up. why did the merging suddenly happen again? or was that just the awoken zhen yu who filled the fridge? overall, me sorta confused and felt that even though it's the same memories, past zhen yu was different than future zhen yu).

character development. this drama had such complex and rich characters tho i must say half of these people are psychopaths lowkey. interestingly enough, the main leads are the only normal ones/didn't get as much development. man, i really loved da jun and honestly knew there was going to be a storyline with him based off the intro, but damn, why did he have to be a bad guy :(((( after knowing the crime he committed, i couldn't feel for him and was just waiting for him to get arrested. the storyline regarding him and zhen yu's dad was also kinda rushed and felt thrown in last minute. i was still SHOOK to the core when da jun's twist were revealed and that he basically planted the fabricated evidence. poor zhen yu trusted him and brought him into the past, only for him to try to save himself from getting caught smh. i still love greg tho and his cute curly hair. i would've loved to see more of what the wall in his house was about or what his passcode was? i read pseudo incest in the taglist and there was a hint towards something in the intro, but it took awhile to reveal more about han wen and ji rou's relationship, which was toxic asf and kinda frightening. i loved loved the use of the cigarette butt tho and how that managed to change the case around. they also never addressed what happened to han wen at the end? like sure, he got arrested probably but what else? also rip ji rou still thinking she's a highschooler but i'm glad she basically gets a fresh start. i also had a soft spot for her and she deserves better than cheng hao and han wen. i loved loved the other supporting characters, and wished they got more screen time/better story arcs, including wen-ge (yay he got a girlfriend tho!!!), man man, and the lady for the restaurant (her interactions with zhen yu were amazing). poor mu si ming was really just there to be the second lead huh. he otherwise got little to no development and deserved so much more.

i've seen dramas or have heard of pretty much the entire main cast, so i wasn't surprised at how amazing their acting was! special s/o to aggie hsieh for doing all of ji rou's many many crying scenes so amazingly. greg hsu manages to play both the innocent, cute, internet cafe owner, and also the psychopathic killer. overall, big applause all around to the entire cast.

even though the drama breezed through, i really do think it could've been like 2 or 3 episodes shorter. cheng hao's case ended up dragging on, especially once we found out about the pseudo incest and han wen via the cigarette butt. the last two episodes had too much unnecessary drama (holding jia le captive, zhen yu's coma, etc.). we only got a happy ending like with 10 minutes left of the drama, which was disappointing. they suddenly threw in a girlfriend for mu si ming when they could've built up that storyline from earlier on to make it less random. the writers really decided to just pull out all the wildest stunts into the last half and stress all the viewers out lol. in particular, i felt it was so unnecessary to have the storyline with zhen yu's dad being killed on-duty protecting jia le and was glad they didn't stretch it out or make a big deal out of it. i get they're trying to explain the connection of the flying horse for zhen yu and jia le but that just made me unnecessarily sad.

overall, such a fun and addicting watch. tempted to watch love @ seventeen next cuz i already miss lego x nikki pairing. this is an underrated drama that netflix should pick up because i had to suffer through it getting stuck every 5 seconds of dramacool or watching half the episode at 140p on dailymotion lol.
