At first I thought I needed to know something of Koreas history before I could watch this drama. I thought that if I didn't, I would catch this one at all. Therefor I was quite skeptical when I first started watching it. Later on, it turned out I didn't need to do that at all. You don't have to know much (at all) about Koreas history, even if a great deal of this drama is about it and it is set in a historical time period. It's got both sugar and spice. Both present and past. Both romance, action, and some politics. You don't need to worry to much about this drama becoming to cheesy, it never does. Nor do you need to worry about it having to much fighting and no Main girl and Main boy relation/scenes. What you do need to worry about however, is how much your space your embarrassing scale got. This drama is awesome, it got it all. You never get bored of it. There is of course, like in any other dramas, time periods when it get a little boring and you maybe dislike this or that part. But the thing is, this drama, from the beginning to the end, always succeeds to keep it's touch. You'll always want to know the answer of the question popping up in your mind. And therefor you continue to watch. Some think that if I watch this episode I'll get my answer and I can drop this drama. Well, the scary thing is, it's almost as if the director already knew your question, so he, purposely put your answers in a place where you have to watch even more to get to know the truth. That's good, because you wont feel frustrated even if you have to continue to watch. Instead you will grow even more and more attached to it and when your on the last episode, when it all ends, you'll regret watching it to greedily. You'll wish that you had slowed down a little. And as for me, I wished nobody saw me crying.
