Rich Expectations, Poor Execution
I usually fly through my dramas but this one was quite difficult to finish. The story is dreadful. There is some mystery in the beginning but after everything is resolved, there is nothing to entertain you. The male MC is very unlikable and, in my opinion, he never really changes that much. I wish the female MC had grown some spine and put him in his place but she only has heart eyes for him. This was categorized as a romance but there is no chemistry between the leads and, until the very end, I didn't believe the male MC would fall for the female protagonist.
I think this is the first drama where I have enjoyed the secondary plot (with Bo Ra's best friend) more than the main storyline. Despite it, I was very bored throughout the episodes.
I also didn't enjoy the OST. I don't think the music had anything to do with the story since... it didn't seem to be a romance drama.
Overall, I pretty much hated it. Definitely one of my least favorite dramas.

You're Not That Great
I think that if I had watched this when I was 15, I would have been obsessed with this drama. Sadly, it didn't quite reach my expectations. The negative aspects:
- I am pretty much done with shows where the girl ends up with the guy that is really mean to her (the bad boy). It just shows she has no self-respect. I mean, he literally tells her he gives her permission to like him. WTF.
However, I was happy to see she grew some spine by the last few episodes, even though it was a little too late.
- The acting could have been better. And what was with the pouting from Tae Kyung? It looked ridiculous.
- I can not get over how horribly written the female main character was... I have noticed this from most shows where the female MC acts dumb/stupid or too innocent. Too often she lost sight of the reason why she was pretending to be a boy and she was always saying she was going to leave. Shin Woo made plans with her and SHE ALWAYS MISSED IT. It was so disrespectful.
- I wish I could have felt the bromance between Jeremy, Shin Woo, and Tae Kyung but all they cared about was Mi Nam.
- The whole plot was ridiculous.
The positive aspects:
- I love the fact it was the actors singing the songs. The OST was absolutely amazing and it is one of my favorites.
- My favorite character was Jeremy and I hate how little he appeared towards the end of the show. If you are going to have the three guys as male leads (supposedly) then they need to have a purpose throughout the show (e.g. Because This Is My First Life). There was so much potential with Jeremy and I think it was wasted. I loved every scene of his and I cried when he was sad and confused. He deserved better.
- And I think the same goes for Shin Woo. I appreciate the fact that he let Mi Nam go when he knew she only had eyes for Tae Kyung and how he would always help her. I am glad he wasn't just another guy who would do anything to win the girl.
- Shoutout to Jolie, the cutest pup.
- And shoutout to the Manager. I only laughed because of him.
I want to point out that I don't think this was necessarily Bad but it also wasn't that Good. Overall, I think it was okay.

Every Moment of Goblin Shined
This is one of the few series that I wanted to rewatch immediately after finishing it.The first half of the first episode had me unsure if this was the right series for me but as the story unfolded, I was captivated and amazed by the cast. The Goblin's sadness is palpable and my heart ached for him; Eun Tak's innocence was charming, her wisdom surprising and the Grim Reaper was a sight for sore eyes. Sunny seemed to be one of those characters you look over and don't pay much attention, but she surprised me early on. The actors did an amazing job bringing to life these characters (either main or supporting ones) and they all shined through.
The story itself was magnificent and compelling. It isn't as simple as it appears with its twists and turns. Until the final episode, you just are never sure about anything. I loved how I went from tears of sadness to tears of laughter and how balanced the sad/dramatic scenes are with the funny ones.
The relationship between the Goblin and the Grim Reaper was perfectly developed. In fact, I can definitely say that there is concise development to every relationship in this show and it was a joy to watch. Be it the relationship between the Goblin and Eun Tak to the relationship between Eun Tak and her 'out of this world' friends.
Overall, I can't recommend this enough. I dragged out the last couple of episodes because I did not want it to end and, even as I write this review, I am considering changing my evening plans to accommodate a rewatch of Goblin (sorry current shows...).
I will end this review with one of my favorite quotes (hope this will entice you to watch Goblin!):
“Mass isn’t proportional to volume.
A girl as small as a violet, a girl who moves like a flower petal – is pulling me toward her with more force than her mass.
Just then, like Newton’s apple, I rolled toward her without stopping until I fell on her with a thump.
My heart keeps bouncing between the sky and the ground.
It was my first love”
