Guilty Pleasure
If you got to season three then you obviously know that this is not a drama to take seriously. It's more of something fun to watch and laugh at because it might be campy but severely lacks artistry. Season three is my favorite of the writer's roster of work and if you are familiar with her then you know that she likes to pack all the crazy in one body of work.
The Pros:
The evil step-mother in law gets what she deserves and so do the cheating husbands in this season which is very satisfying to watch to a great level.
At this point two of the OG wives are on the path to genuine happiness with men that simply adore them and their children. They are glowing, dressing up, smiling and it's a Hot Ex-Wives Summer this season and I am LOVING EVERY MOMENT OF IT. They say the best revenge is moving on and gaining your own happiness and that is an understatement for the ladies that have gained themselves not only new adoring men but also wealthier. Thank you writer-nim.
The children have matured in this drama and I love seeing their internal conflict of selfishly wanting to hold on to their innocence and their original family but also recognizing the importance of their parents' happiness. One of my favorite quotes that are repeatedly said by the kids is that they too will move on with their lives and it's unfair to expect their mothers to remain alone.
The romance is sweet this season as it is not between married men and their mistresses but rather between divorced middle-aged women and their significant others. Watching them get pampered with genuine love and affection simply because they deserve it and not out of marital obligation is so healing.
The Cons:
I am not a fan of how the writer seems to be trying to force us to feel bad for the husbands and mistresses in this season. They made their bed and should rightly lay on it and Karma is a cold-hearted witch. I would honestly prefer they stopped showing us the husbands and sorely focused on the ex-wives alone.
I am all for ridiculous Ghosts roaming around but when they begin to possess people who owe them nothing... that is going too far! I feel like this writer doesn't like unapologetically independent women because what is with this nonsense that is being force-fed to us?
Overall:
The good outweighs the bad and I still find myself counting down the days to the next episode like an addict. I am hooked and I am loving the journey even if forces me to let out a couple of curses along the way.
