This drama is not just about youth.
This drama is not just about youth. It’s about experiencing it and overcoming things to advance and go beyond. This is my first time writing a review so bear with me but I just really want to share my take on this drama.
This is a total recommendation for people who need to heal. At first, I was actually intrigued by some clips of this drama on social media because it looks all fun. But to be honest, I feel like the earlier episodes were a bit flat out that I almost drop it on ep3. The pace was too slow for me, I want to know what the leads’ story is already. Little did I know that the slow pacing was what made me invest emotions and feelings in this drama.
Despite the slow pacing in the beginning, I began to see the light on each lead characters. It really showed great developments, from the story, characters and relationships within. Watching the lead characters heal from their own struggles and hardships made me feel healed too. Moreover, their struggles were just too realistic, especially Soo Bin’s. Some may think that she got the worst charac dev and I somehow agree to that but I personally think that it actually happens in real life. Soo Bin’s character reflects what a mediocre person is, which I relate to myself. It is really hard to improve yourself too easily if even though you have a lot of insecurities about urself, you know you still do have capabilities within you.
What I really love in this drama is Jun’s and Soohyun’s part. Everything from their story, own problems, flaws, way of overcoming those hardships, healing and most especially, their relationship. Every moment that they talked, you can see how they try to escape from the dark moments of their lives, which sometimes fail yet in the end succeed.
Special mention for developments were the side characters (the groupmates). It is a typical ending for dramas for everything to end well but this one does not magically made it happen. It also shows how hard it was for the groupmates to change their views against the prejudice involving the lead characters yet it was just to satisfying and relieved to feel their developments.
Aside from developments, it also shows the realistic social issues even on the most trivial scenes like depression, poverty, college life, victim blaming, abuse, and many more. I don’t know how to explain it but there was a lot to learn from this drama than just love, friendship and school. It offers a variety of life situations.
It was hard to find what I don’t like abt this drama because this might become one of my favorites but one thing that I’m not too fond of is Miju. She does not really have something to contribute except for being in love. She started being heartbroken, then fall in love then ended being heartbroken again. Maybe it was her role to provide the audience the ‘lovey’ side of a kdrama but I think her character was too weak for the whole drama.
Every episode literally gave me stirring emotions. The characters’ acting were also superb eventho I have only watched the leads as a side character from other dramas. They were really great at portraying their roles which is why this drama came out great! There are probably a lot of other opinion that I haven’t shared in this review but I can only say that this drama is a must watch for youngsters like me who are currently lost in life or experiencing brokenness inside. This drama healed me and for the first time, I saw a drama with the potential pf being watched again by me. I might watch this drama over and over when I feel lost again to remind me to keep running in the track continuously until I heal again.
Ps: I AM GENUINELY HAPPY FOR JUN FOR FINDING SOMEONE WHO CAN ACCEPT HIM WITHIN HIS BROKEN SELF HUHU I WANT SOMEONE WHO CAN ACCEPT AND UNDERSTAND ME TOO.
