i feel like some people that talk about the ‘lack of plot’ in this series are really missing the point and not appreciating this very left-of-centre humour! The series def started out as complete fluff and obvious humour, but esp in the first four episodes when we are constantly tricked with the flashbacks, there is a definite joke between the director and audience and i absolutely love it :) It definitely seems to set out to play on yaoi girl/gay fantasies about what we want to see, and then having a bit of fun with our expectations. Esp in eps 5 and 6 they also make fun of cultural differences and stereotypes several times in an unoffensive but humorous way. I like that this series has a very different feel to other bl dramas- this is the same reason that i loved What The Duck. I hope more ppl can appreciate this series moving forward, and accept that the charm of the show does not lie entirely with having a strong plot. Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

I watched the HIStory series out of order and i’m absolutely glad i did, because i rate two of the stories amongst my favourite dramas of all time, but i am not terribly sure that i would have continued with the series if i had watched My Hero first :(......... The supernatural element was far too camp, that it began and continued to venture into children’s show territory and on top of that, the cringe factor remained high throughout most of the series... The moments that were supposed to be cute, awkward moments between the actors actually felt awkward to watch in real life (like the shy conversations) and where those awkward moments were supposed to turn into funny cute moments, like in the bottle scene, i still felt like cringing -_- The end of the series can be guessed from half way through the second episode, which is not the worst thing in the world, but i also struggled to find as much chemistry between the actors in this story, as i did in other HIStory series, which really let me down. I do feel that this had more to do with the script and direction of the series though, and less to do with the actors’ abilities. I really think that this concept could have worked well in a longer series format with a more loaded script and darker feel. I still continue to enjoy the History Series though, and if anything, i appreciate that the franchise is always trying to provide variety, even if i don’t particularly enjoy one plot :) Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Even if only for a ratings grab by y girls, this show still deserves huge props for giving us the ending we always wanted for Mean and Plan in Love by Chance (albeit the tongue-in-cheek name changes of the characters ????) and a nice continuation for Perth and Saint, as the Cathy Doll short apparently won’t include them as a couple. i definitely think that this is a good bridging show between Lovesick 2 and the upcoming season, because not only does Noh look a hell of a lot different now (even from in Great Men Academy), but both he and Phun have clearly matured in their thinking and have come to a stable point in their relationship. I can’t wait for Love Sick 3 and the return of last season’s characters :) Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
