This drama advertises itself as a primarily romance orientated drama, but i would beg to differ. If you're looking to watch this drama, it is NOT a romance, it is just sixteen episodes of 'hagwon' (academy/tuition centre) politics, and how the hagwon is affected by said 'romance'.So, that explains why i feel like i wasted my time with this drama.
What did i get out of it? Basically nothing.
See, i wouldnt have minded if it was vice versa and the romance took the main role with a side of hagwon politics, but that wasnt the case.
I would have still watched this anyways since i am a fan of wi ha jun, he's my type in men and an amazing actor to boot, so any drama that he works on that i like the premise of is a must watch for me, but no amount of ogling at his beautful face could save this drama from the trenches of a severe lack of romantic plotline, chemistry or development.
I wouldnt recommend this if you are looking for romance.
Theres no midnight romance, its just hagwon.
If you like hagwon politics however, you should watch it.
It's a well made drama, however it's romance plotline is very weak and this drags the drama down - nothing much really happens between them and they have barely any romantic tension after episode 8.
Basically, after episode 8 the drama is entirely focused on hagwon politics.
Quite disappointed. I like the ost a lot tho, an the acting is very good, if it didnt have these qualities it would have been a 6.
Love the actor playing si woo, i will be waiting for his future roles, and the actress playing hye jin is amazing and encompasses her role very well.

FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS READ THE WEBTOON - AMAZING
i watched this drama, as you can tell, because i was a daily reader of the completed webtoon series of the same name that this drama was based upon. as someone who reads both webtoon and watches kdramas frequently, i often get disappointed by crap adaptations that deviate entirely from the plot (true beauty does this, worst kdrama ive watched by far)so when i watched this adaptation, i was pleasantly surprised by how close this was to the webtoon! the castings were spot on, the plot was nicely reshaped into a ten-episode format, and the main events were the exact same. i enjoyed jang da-ah as ha-rin and bona as sung soo-ji, i think they have nice coordination as actors and suit their respective roles perfectly. the casting of eun-byeol was INCREDIBLE - how could one play out a characters role so perfectly! she looks exactly like drawn eunbyeol in the webtoon- i instantly knew it was her. whilst pyramid game deviates ever so slightly from the webtoon, it is a very very good watch, and i can imagine how good this must be for anyone who hasnt read it. this is a MUST WATCH for anyone who is a fan of school and psychological themes!!!! and obviously, as per the webtoon, the ending is immaculate- no loose ends over here, my friends!!

So good- i don’t even know where to start. so many things to figure out in the plot, the plot line is so complex yet never confusing. the characters are so lovable and it really gets into the mind of the antagonist. there’s no clear good and evil and accurately represents that everyone does something wrong in the end. This drama has a good plot line and a good ending- it’s a very entertaining watch and when i tell you i was hooked i was hooked. one of the best 12 episodes i’ve watched. very solid drama an enjoyable watch and i will miss it very much.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
absolutely perfect
this dramas plot is carved out beautifully- twists and turns every episode, it leads you through a maze of who killed who, who’s the newest police suspect and what really happened with park wonseok. but said maze reaches a finalised conclusion that isn’t consumed with heartbreak and doesn’t leave loose ends hanging about. even when you think the murderer is obvious or the results is predictable, this drama finds a way to throw a spanner in the works and prove you wrong time and time again- this drama is a whodunnit, tinted with school life, drama and a slither of romance- i highly recommend you watch this, it’s a great binge!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

THE BEST DRAMA. not an imperfection in the plot. i went through all 26 episodes in a week. this drama has brought smiles to my face and tears to my eyes. i’m so sad that i finished this drama- i miss it already :( . it’s so full of drama- there’s a new twist every episode but it’s done so well. it’s so interesting you’ll never be bored, and the characters are so lovable and hateable. the ending was mostly happy with a sad tinge to it. Good romance, bubbly, lot of romantic scenes
This drama is romance and romance only- and it’s great. The length is perfect, and the plot isn’t awfully complicated but is still interesting. There are a lot of skinship scenes (if you like that!) and no toxicity, just a pure relationship with understanding and communication. It’s a good watch and you’ll find yourself smiling at your phone multiple times. It’s also a great binge and great if your just looking for something to watch in one go. Very interesting- plot will keep you hooked
This drama was super entertaining to watch. It’s the perfect length, and every episode is jam packed with interesting storylines and concepts to keep you hooked. Its such a good drama that represents real themes and leaves you with good morals. It explores the ideas of self perception and toxic cultures online and at school very well. The acting was really good and ho sung is my favourite character (just an interesting and funny character really). Best drama i’ve ever watched
Extracurricular is beautiful- i could rewatch this for days. It perfectly encompasses a dark concept without being overly gory and conveys an edging romantic plot without making everything about romance. Extracurricular is fascinating- the plot is constantly interesting and i remember every moment vividly, and the duality of a school but crime and dark genre will always be my favourite combination. I watched this a year ago and rewatched a couple of months ago, but i came back here specifically to write a review just to help people experience the joy i did when watching this. Just a good watch, clean satisfying and fun
This drama is just interesting, fun and the length is perfect. It’s nothing too conceptual, just a fun bl with interesting scenarios and characters. I quite enjoy the straightforwardness of this drama, everything is as it seems but it never feels plain. This is definitely a happy and fun watch and the romance is structured well. You have to watch this at least once. Characters are good and acting is good and when it intends to be this drama is funny. Very lovable drama you should watch. Just watch it- it’s a good watch
Not what i expected at all. I originally ignored this drama because of its cringe comedy style and editing, but i came back to it purely because of a youtube video of Hyung-shik kissing bong soon and then this drama became quite literally addictive. I watched all 16 episodes in maybe 3 days? It is really good, the acting is top notch, the soundtrack is kinda cringe but lovable and the characters are just works of art. My only complaint would be too many comedic side stories to handle, but the highschool gangsters subplot was too funny and lovable to reject (It also brung out a different side to bong soon in my opinion). But these side stories are easily skipped, so don’t worry and watch this drama.This part kind of includes a character description but it’s not really a spoiler
I wanted to devote a paragraph to kim jang hyun and the actor who played him (Jang mi kwan). Jang hyuns character was beautiful. An obsessive kidnapper who idolises an abusive play? His character is crafted so well, and the acting!! Jang mi kwan plays this role so well (And he is very good looking i have to say but still keeps his role hateable and villainous which is really impressive to me) the acting is top notch. I was really disappointed to find he’s only been in 4 dramas, and had barely noticeable roles in the other 3, i hope he gets a main or supporting role soon!! Anyway his role was really good and i seriously think he is such a good actor. So that’s the end of my paragraph about him.
I also wanted to note the brother and his now love interest are so bloody annoying and seriously need to start ceasing to exist. That’s all.
Also- Mr gong? My man needs to get himself a partner- i feel bad for him third wheeling all the time.
The feces wine thing had me rolling on the floor for hours, i was actually dying.
And the grandma- she’s a baddie icl.
All in all- great drama- you should watch. Ik people on here can be quite critical, but ignore them and just watch it. It’s super good !

Polished movie- good watch!
I really liked this movie. It has a strong moral, interesting characters, a good plot and a good representation of manipulation, school bullying, the highschool environment and social hierarchy, and exclusion. It represents the hypocritical and toxic natures of the school environment through a clean plot and good acting, with good filming and relevant music. So, if you’re looking for my green light to watch it- do! It’s a very clean and consistent movie- a rarity nowadays tbh. It’s a good watch and i’d probably watch it again. I have no criticisms of this movie other than maybe more romance. The plot is amazing, everything is amazing, even the choice of dialogue and the styling is amazing. the main character, even though sometimes she doesn’t even say anything, her face is so expressive. you can tell her feelings from just a blank face. The male lead sort of portrays a great perspective of different emotions. This movie is not only good plotwise, but shows an amazing emotional journey as well. crap, completely different from the webtoon, cringe & too cliche
spoiler warning if you haven’t read webtoonok so i finished true beauty and honestly i liked the first 8 or so eps and then it just became a really crappy and inaccurate time skip in which seojun gets completely rejected and suho disappears for only 5 seconds and then comes right back like a cockroach ?. they changed way too many things and it’s a completely different story to the webtoon where they don’t even give seojun a chance and they don’t build suho and jugyeong’s relationship to the point where it feels like two strangers off the street are snogging ?. it was way too rushed and the display of suhos character was crap and it completely ignored the webtoon.
i was really disappointed with this and the only reason i continued watching was hwang in yeop. best actor there + best played character

i watched this drama a while ago but i had to tell yall just how bad this was i have no fucking idea why everyone and their mum has an obssession with itthis drama is 12 episodes full of useless plot and everyone turning into a zombie
you literally cant get a break basically everyone is zombified by the end and the ending is so shitty and makes it worse
this drama is a waste of your time youll be angsty the entire time and then the ending will put the nail in your coffin

also that nayeon girl was so fucking stupid bc she could have just stayed inside and lived to see the end of the zombie apocalypse but nooooooo she just had to be quirky and come out

Perfect drama. such a whirlwind of emotions but the plot is well done but there should have been an additional episode to tie up loose ends. the ending doesn’t really make sense and there should have been a flash to the future where it shows how they’ve been doing. Overall great drama but i should introduce you to my one major qualm that is dropping this drama a whole 0.5 stars. I AM SO MAD. INJOO X DOIL NEVER HAPPENED.
