A Love Story with a lot of family drama.
The appeal of older man/younger relationships being told for dramas may not be your cup of tea but Young Lady and Gentlemen follows the story of Park Dan Dan and Lee YoungGuk's trivial and complicated love. In between there you have a list of family drama that just seems to never end. What I became most frustrated with in this drama was the story telling. The writers came up hearth breaking situations that didn't actually depict relatable emotions. There were a lot of unnecessary anger and frustration with character developments, character relationships and even plots that just made no sense. What started off promising and to a good start eventually became a train wreck. The most controversial piece about this drama was the relationship between Park Dan Dan and her father who had practically raised her after his wife abandoned them. He was very over protective of his daughter and went out of his way to disregarded the life that she practically made for herself after leaving home. The romance in the drama bloomed for almost everyone but Park Dan Dan and YoungGuk which really delayed story progression over time. Yet the moments when we found the leads together always wanted us craving more.
There were times in this drama that really made it painful to watch because of the story taking a "twist" that shouldn't have ever existed. All in all I could understand the story that the writers were trying to relay, I just think the writers did a bad job relaying them. Overall, this drama did keep me coming back week after week and I think it was mainly due to the main leads interest into one another. I craved for more romantic scenes and more deepening conversations about Young Guk's past/Dan Dan's past and their relationship actually blooming through the midst of chaotic family drama but unfortunately we didn't get that. I don't think I'll re-watch this drama.
