Must watch for anyone getting into cdrama!
Although this isn’t my first Chinese drama, it’s one I actually stuck to and watched entirely through. The Untamed blew any expectations I had away. I don’t watch many cdramas but this got me addicted so I watch other shows like it now.The story can be intimidating at first, but it has fifty episodes to explain the plot line. I really liked it, as the story gave importance to all characters, both side and mains, even the “villains.”
The acting was definitely a surprise. I know the actors aren’t the most famous (at the time) and experienced, but their acting surprised me. You can tell how genuine and heartfelt they were to their characters, especially Xiao Zhan! He shocked me at some parts, where he looked like he was actually in pain. I’m also a fan of Wang Zhuocheng and Song Jiyang’s amazing acting in this.
Lastly, the music was also a surprise. I first watched the animation, so the music was already in my mind. But they did a great job to keep the music fitting to their characters without being exact copies.
Overall, (sorry for the long review) I really enjoyed this show. The sfx and cgi isn’t anything Hollywood style, but it wasn’t too distracting to me. But the amazing acting and characters is a 10/10. Please watch the Untamed! It definitely didn’t feel like 50 episodes in the end. Just to warn anyone, it’s an emotional rollercoaster! I was laughing, smiling and crying.

One of the best Jdramas I’ve watched!
I’ve watched a lot of japanese dramas in the past, but Cherry Magic definitely is the one I will be a fan of for a long time. The story is simple but in a good way, as there aren’t any confusing plot points. The two main characters are great and it’s heartwarming to see their relationship improve and fix, unlike a lot of other dramas. I find a lot of jdramas (even BL) have toxic and unhealthy representations. The music wasn’t overwhelming or underwhelming, it was simple enough to compliment the show. Personally, the music wasn’t a big part of the main plot so didn’t pay attention to it too much.
One of the main points is the two male leads! Their acting exceeded my expectations. They seemed to have chemistry, even off screen. I really look forward to seeing a season two, although there’s no plan yet. I just want to see Kurosawa and Adachi be happy!! I’m a big fan of Kurosawa’s actor (Keita Machida) he’s amazing. He’s been in many other movies and shows and is very versatile. So if you’ve been disappointed by Jdramas you’ve been watching, please watch this one! It’s super refreshing and nice to watch.

Amazing drama and definitely should watch!!
After watched CQL (the untamed), I wanted more of these dramas. I came across WoH, which is a wuxia drama. What I love about this drama is that they are not afraid to show the relationship between the main leads. It’s hard to pass off as bromance, the actors did so well in their characters. Even the supporting characters are great and I love how the female characters in this aren’t just a weak damsel in distress. They are written amazingly and are strong. The main two have depth and the actors did a great job, I’m used to have okay acting in Asian dramas. Even the side couple was amazing. You will laugh a lot and get emotional. It’s a low budget drama, but I really only noticed in one scene where they used sfx. Everything else it’s hard to believe it’s low budget! The effects and costumes look amazing for what it is. Good for anyone getting into cdramas, 36 episodes went by so fast!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
