Unexpected heart for a drama about disillusionment
Shi**ing Stars... shows that a Kdrama CAN have it all...A love triangle that isnt toxic.
Comedy that makes you laugh but never once veers into zany.
Multiple Bromances.
Supportive females without a catty one in the bunch.
Plot twist that surprises you but doesnt change the tone of the drama.
"Real" relationships that dont use false plot points such as white trucks of doom or crazy schemes to keep them together or force them apart.
A surprising amount of heart for a drama about being jaded with the kdrama industry.
If you havent given it a chance... (get past episode one) and you should love it.

Friendship and heartbreak in a time of liberation.
As I finished watching Chicago Typewriter I realized that I was riding that familiar rollercoaster of kdrama emotions… Heart fluttering, pulse racing, screen shouting, hope bearing, mind boggling, gut wrenching, friendship making, anxiety inducing, speculation tossing, tear producing, joy bringing, fearful musings, phone throwing, heart aching, addiction forming, time warping, Oppa Squeeing, ugly sobbing, romance swooning time.To put it plainly, this drama looks terribly cheesy during the first episode and I almost put it down. The story relied on trope filled encounters, seemingly over the top storyline and a plot that you are uncertain what it is trying to be.
The closest I can come to describing the nuanced layered story telling is the American Movie "The Usual Suspects" While you are busy discounting the silliness of the characters and story ... lots of information is going on. Every scene is a build up to the end.
Before you know it you are intrigued and don't realize how invested you are in these seemingly annoying and flawed characters. I've read so many people say they fast forwarded past parts/ characters they "didn't like" but don't be tempted to do that because it all solidifies into some of the most poetic stories of friendship, love and sacrifice.
It is one of my favorite series and I can not say enough about the three leads chemistry between each other.

Heartbreaking and worthwhile
Since you know from the first moment that the story (and the synopsis) Seasons of Blossom is a look back at the loss of someone (death) from six years prior, this drama gave me more of a poignant feel than a crushing sense of unexpected loss. The writers do an amazing job addressing regret and atonement. These two topics made for so much heartbreak and grief that as a viewer it is painful to watch... yet the way they film they scenes keeps the viewer from being too overwhelmed.By continually flipping from present to past, allows the viewer to focus on multiple "blooming" love stories and breaks up the sense of impending doom...The series reminded me a bit of The Sound Of Magic (and for that matter a lot of kdramas) in the sense that it deals with parental expectations and the burden they can become. So my take away is yes ... this is a tragic story and it is heart wrenching! BUT... since there has not been any "gotcha" moments of unexpectedness, I have not been crying my eyes out... even though my heart has been aching from the very first episode. So if you go into it with that in mind ... this is one the the most beautifully written dramas I have seen this year. The acting has also been some of the best (and most of them are young/ newer actors/ actresses).Coming from me who's first question is always ... does it have a happy ending?!?!? I have no regrets starting this drama. I can not wait to see more projects from all of these actors/ actresses!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Delicate and heartfelt
If you watch NOTHING else ... Watch this! This Short film is beautiful... It is ONLY 25 minutes long (don't forget to watch until the end there is an extra scene after credits) and I can not express how touching it is.I can only find it on you/tube. If you havent seen Park Hyung Sik in anything... this is a perfect introduction to his amazingly underrated talent. His face is so expressive.
This short film (an advertisement for the Relumino visual aid product seen in the film) is nothing but genius. The characters quickly pull you in and the story feels so very intimate. You will be shocked at how quickly you come to care about these characters and will be equally surprised how quickly it is over.
I would have loved to see a full length drama telling the story of all the characters...

Graphic Violent and hard to watch.
RANT! Just Skip Fabricated City! Friday night Just me and my Wook. The Good news is that I really love seeing JCW... he can bring the action and the tears and everything in between. The bad news is I forget how "gritty" Movies tend to be. The entire movie was so very grim and hard to watch. The (action) movie progressed so quickly that it left zero time for character development. The tragic events happening to JCW's character was horrific but I felt a sense of disconnect because I knew nothing about the character and was hoping that the movie would slow down on the graphic events to show us the effects on the characters psyche and motivation. Instead it is glossed over with more action and violence. The Bad guy is a predictable and badly written Bond villain (not as bad as the King 2Hearts Villain). My last rant for this movie is that someone in editing decided to speed up all the foot chases and car chase scenes. It makes the movie seem cheap and poorly produced.Trigger warning this show is very violent and JCW bears the brunt of all this violence.. It also has a very graphic scene in prison which is hard to watch and unnecessary! My final assessment... Skip this movie... especially if you are a JCW fan... You will thank yourself later
