overall unsatisfying
this drama... i watched through episode after episode filled with anticipation only to slowly lose interest until finally asking myself "...that's it?" at the end. it felt like freshly brewed tea slowly going cold without ever being drunk. just a waste.what this drama does have is amazing character arcs. i sometimes felt compelled to continue watching only to see where my most beloved characters would end up. sadly, the rest of the writing is not comparable.
free my man yan xun, he did it all but i don't care!

action rom-com in a perfect, easy to consume package
this drama kept me entertained from start to finish and never left me wanting. it's pausing-to-catch-my-breath type of funny, suspenseful with the characters' secrets slowly being revealed, has thrilling action scenes and oh my gosh the romance! i didn't expect to fall in love with the main couple in this drama, but i did. they're just so adorable (and occasionally chaotic). the ML resembles a puppy in the way he trails after the FL.the pacing in this drama is fast and no-nonsense, every scene serves a purpose and there is nothing that could be considered filler. twelve episodes is really all it needs. each of the characters have depth to them and are not only there as an an accessory, but help drive the plot forward and/or make the scene more interesting. the plot itself is somewhat predictable, but it didn't personally spoil anything for me since it isn't your typical historical drama with focus on political intrigue and clever twists to shock to viewers—its job is to entertain, and it does it very well!
all around a very well-rounded and enjoyable drama that is easy to consume. if you're looking for something deeper theme- and plotwise this isn't for you. that being said, if you want something you can binge in a few days (or why not in one) that will keep you thoroughly entertained, then i cannot recommend it enough!
