Does life is always dull and depressing?

Okay so when I saw the trailer of this show, I was super excited. The story was right up my alley. Since going with dramas has now become a cautionary work (where 14 episodes have you over the moon and the last two punches you back on Earth) I decided to wait till all the episodes were out. I guess I had too many expectations from the genre this drama chose because I didn't exactly vibe the way it should have been. (Note- this is my subjective take on this so its chill if others have a different experience about it).***The review may contains minor spoilers so tread with caution***The drama is centered on the lives of 3 siblings and those around them. Starting with Chang Hee, I think Lee Min Ki nailed the character. The character is so dorky at times yet so deep. Even though he doesn't know what he wants in life, he is self-aware. He is responsible when times calls for it and never complaints on why life was what it was for him. Sadly the character was underutilized in my opinion and there were so many time jumps like one moment he is mourning and in the next scene he random proposed (at least make the effort to tell us he was dating -_-). The drama just gave the highlights of his life and left us to fill up the blanks.Ki- Jung played by Lee El, who again has played the character very well. However at times her character felt superficial, especially when she is next to her love interest. I didn't get why this drama needed a character because all it showed was how a 30 something was lonely and decided to date any man she gets. My least favorite would be Mi- Jung. She was shy and found communicating the right words difficult which feels so relatable. But the entire series was her about hating people especially her family. Agreed her family was in tough situation but it was so sad to see character was so immature to never see how her parents endlessly worked for their family. I wish towards the end the drama had shown some acknowledgement on her part as to how her family members were not bad people its just that they had so many responsibilities to shoulder upon. She always complained as how people were bad yet the people around her including office colleagues were so nice to her. Its just her who never took the initiative to bond. The last episode where she states her life is two parts- one before Gu and one after Gu had my eyes rolling. The guy barely spoke 10 legit sentences to her throughout the show and was the highlight of her universe. All other relations took a back seat. Now on to Mr Gu, Son Seok Koo is deadly charming and he knows it. Every scene he was in, was filled with his aura even though the guy barely spoke. Like the scene was just about few people having dinner with nothing else and you are curious about this namja (man). I was so confused with his character arc that I barely cared who he is. (Lowkey i was expecting they would kill him due to liver damage or something). No efforts to show his past or his future plans, just an open dialogue left to the viewers to fill up what they want.Besides them there were side characters who had potential but low screen time. One major drawback I had with the show is it only focused on the sad side of life. Yes life is tough and dull at times but there are good moments too (and more than 5 mins a day). I wished we had seen more happier side of these characters. Though I have mentioned only the bad parts in my review, this show had many relatable life lessons and food for thought questions which will have you in awe. Its a one time watch according to me. Feel free to have your own take!
