I almost missed out on this - keyword is "almost". I was searching the site for some dramas to watch while I wait for the new episode of 2gether to air, and I remember scrolling past Theory of Love. The summary got me curious but didn't conviece me fully. Despite of that somehow I got back to it's page re-reading the stuffs said there and finally I tought why not give it a shot?
I'm thankful I did.

I really liked that this drama wasn't just about someone who felt in love with his best friend, and then some times later said best friend also started to like him and they got together. No, it was about how much unrequited love can hurt you. If you like/love someone from far away, like you guys are just acquaintances and speak only twice a week maybe, it would be bearable. But if this person just happens to be your best friend, you're doomed. Doomed, beacuse of all the "what if"-s running through you head. You don't want to lose your best friend, but what if you have a little chance and you could be happy? What if don't? You could lose them forever. Also you have to put up a mask and be there everytime they introduce you their new girlfriend/boyfriend and pretend you're just as happy as they are, but in the inside you're dying. Maybe you're really happy for them, but at the same time thinking "this could be us, too". This type of dramas is usually not my cup of tea, but Theory of Love proved me wrong.

Khai is a total idiot (and it's an absolute understatement but I don't want to use too harsh words here) whom I despised in the first few episodes. I felt sorry towards Third. The only thing he was guilty of is the love he felt towards his best friend, who treated him shit. I wanted to hug him and be his new best friend and wanted to punch Khai in the face for mistreating the only people who truly loved him for years. Even if he wasn't in love with Third yet - you only have one best friend who sticks with you through good and bad and you shouldn't treat him/her in such way. So yeah, I guess I felt satisfied when Third started to move on from Khai and wanted to forget him as a potential lover and boyfriend. And I felt even more joy when Khai - surprise, surpise! - started to fall in love with Third in return. I got to see the way he suffered from the constant rejection from Third.

I liked the other two characters too - Bone and Two. Especially Two, who was a great friend and showed support towards Third when he discovered the truth about he liking Khai. Those four were always together but Two never hesitated to stand up against Khai if he hurt Third. In episode 11 (and SPOILERS ahead, you've been warned!) when Two didn't go to their planned trip because Third wasn't going either shows really how protective he is. He was ready to stay behind with him without a second tought. Everyone should have this kind of people in their lives.
This was also that moment when we could see the change in Khai's behavior. Nobody showed up in the train station - not even Bone; okay, not for the same reason as Two, but still -, but Khai stayed where he was, sitting on the bench for a whole day waiting for his friends to show up because he promised them he will be there, no excuses. He wanted to prove them he can change for Third's sake.

At the end it was good to see how their future turned out - although this part was a bit rushed in my opinion. But that's the only negative part I can say about this drama. It was a great experience to watch it until the end, and I'm sure I'll rewatch it in the future.

Short but unique

I'm glad I found this series.

It has an interesting theme - people who only sees colors when their probes are with them.
I've heard and read a lot of story with similar themes, soulmate AUs where people are color blind and only are able to see colors when they found their soulmate; also that's the sign you found your partner through life. But they were never like this, with this kind of twist where you experience de-coloring when you are not with your probe. This makes monos desperate and obbsessed because once you got a taste what it's like to see actual colors you never want to see the world only in gray again.

I loved Yeonwoo's and Yoohan's characters. Yoohan was a sweet guy who cared for Yeonwoo despite the fact that he was a mono and Yoohan knew monos got obsessed with their probes sooner or later. He didn't care for that one bit - why is that we only got the answer at the last episode. Honestly I wasn't prepared for this turn of events.
Yeonwoo dear, he was so scared that one day he'll be like the other monos in the news who kidnapped and killed their probes! But he was a kindhearted guy and always thought of others before himself . Though I don't approve of the way he wanted to protect Yoohan from himself, at least he remained true to his word that he didn't want to harm Yoohan in any way.

The only not so positive thing I have to say about Color Rush are the plot and the animation.
The plot would have been good -it was good in many ways -, but I felt it rushed. Like... what happened to Yeonwoo's mom? Did they managed to find her in the end? We only got little bits of informations about her and her dissapearance and the overall case. I would have liked to have a more elaborate story. And I know, the series itself is short, so they focused on the main characters and the main plot but this could have been so much more detailed in the little things like this if Color Rush would have more and longer episodes. This goes with Yoonhan's background too. We got like 2 sentences about his family in the last episode and that's all.
As for the animation. It was a bit -okay, at first a LOT but it got a bit better with time-, cringe-y to watch the color rush scenes. Those rainbow sparkles around their faces was soo weird. I couldn't get to used to them.

And just to touch the OST topic too.
You have to give this OST a chance because it's fantastic. It went very well with the drama and I have a feeling I'll be lsitening to it more in the future.
