This was my first ever call for any sort of LGBTQ+ series. I watched it while it was airing like the second last episode maybe..? not sure nvm. I was randomly going through the reviews and saw how many negative ones are there- And for that I couldn't resist myself from writing something in defense...
Mostly people call this 'overhyped', if you are into bl a long before this aired then sure, I too admit that if I were you I would have reacted the same way. But as someone who for the first time ever say two men out of nowhere be in a relationship and KISS I freaked out lol. Before that I had no idea something like this existed too. Trust me and I am not embarrassed to say this cause that's the environment I grew up in. Here, still, this is regarded as a disease among the elders (new genzs not included ofc) And for that I am so grateful that this was the first thing I watched. Let me be precise, there must be a reason why for many of us this is the first bl series and can't just be hyped for no reason right?
For the answer, let me say that this is the exact kind of story, genre, environment, and cast (lol) for someone's first... No one will (at least I won't) like watching TharnType or Manner of Death or maybe Kinnporsche as their first thing into a total new sexual oriented community. This one has that slow, lovely and warmly coded atmosphere that made me feel at home in a total new world... I am so lucky that they made such a series because since then I became an active Lgbtq ally myself and could throw the hell of narrow-minded homophobic hypocrites away from me lol.
