Love Is The Core Of This Show
Romance enthusiasts will truly devour this drama. I normally find it hard to finish Chinese historical dramas but this really kept me going with all 59 episodes.Positives:
- All characters are well-written and real. It doesn’t feel like a fictional world because every character was realistically depicted. Usually, C dramas are unable to show actual bonding between characters but this drama is so different. Every character was important and their pain felt real.
- The love in this drama is so passionate and stunning; it leaves you breathless. Si Feng and Xuan Ji’s willingness to protect each other is the best part. You get to see our main leads emotionally coerced to take every step even if it tore the worlds apart to stand by one another and grow old together.
- It’s thrilling and keeps you wanting more. Many episodes and characters reminded me of Macbeth. You had it all, characters driven by power, by hatred, by passion, by love. It’s truly amazing to watch things unravel.
Negatives:
- it’s frustrating because there’s many problems that could’ve just been avoided. Characters took dumb decisions and you can’t help but tear your hair out in annoyance.
-Si Feng suffers so much. It pained me more than I can explain.
- the kisses were so good BUT SO LESS. I wanted more breathtaking kisses ?
If you’re wondering, this is definitely worthwhile and you’ll want to memorize many scenes in your head. PS: Si Feng’s character is my favorite; he does everything to protect his love AND HE SUFFERS SO MUCH PLEASE MY HEART TORE FOR HIM! MY MAN SUFFERED SO DAMN MUCH, and he’s so hot; drama naturally scores extra points for that.

An All Rounder
I genuinely haven’t watched something so warm and uplifting in a while. This drama is a remake of the American movie but it’s so much more. The main characters are so enjoyable. Drama touches upon core issues such as importance of family, difficulties of early parenthood, rocky school life and finding yourself even in the midst of a chaotic, degrading life cycle. The father/children relationship is heartwarming and makes you bawl. It makes you realize the hardships your parents might’ve went through to give you a good life. It also digs deep into how children give back without expressing through words. Main lead, Lee Do Hyun, is so charming and believable as a father of two teenagers; I was stunned with his amazing acting abilities. This drama is truly a gem.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
