I watched this drama because I miss seeing Nakagawa Taishi in all his youthful glory (his face changed lately), so I didn’t really expect anything. But this is such a warm drama with surprisingly funny lines.

From the first episode, the story and the lines captivated me, it didn’t look like it’s gonna be funny, but soon I found myself giggled and LOLed, the comedy is not over the top at all, it’s more like funny writing.

The casting are so so good, this is the first time I see Haru in leading role, I never put too much attention to her, but she is good here. So so adorable. All the cast here are so so good looking, but in a daily simple way. Nakagawa Taishi was the reason I started this drama and boy, he didn’t disappoint. I really like it when he played naturally, it’s really different from when he played a comedy character with manga-ish acting (bokukoi, oyabaka). He was so handsome here.

The song.. to be honest, I don’t really dig the OST on this drama, but the G-senjou song really stuck in my head, I love it!

All in all, this is a good good romcom, don’t miss it!

Short, sweet, funny and effective

This short and simple drama surprisingly works very well. Not a moment of dullness, and eventhough the story itself is of course cliche but the plotline is enjoyable and the acting was effective.

First of all, the female lead.. she’s gorgeous and cute I wonder how she’s not in more drama. She delivered the character nicely and the comedic timing also good. The male lead looks too old for 27 but he delivered well too, the chemistry between the two leads are nice.

The side characters are funny and not annoying at all. I was surprised that the bartender is one of the actor in “Stay Tuned!” He looked so different!

I rated this drama quite high, eventhough it’s josei cliche and of course predictable, because of the entertaining value. It’s short, sweet, funny, and easy to watch. Aalso I hope the lead actress will get more roles in the future, I’d like to see her again in dramas.

Is this drama supposed to show us something more? Should I delve deeper or should I just take it as a light stupid comedy? That’s the feeling I get during this whole drama.

The pacing is good, the acting is good, the timing and writing of the comedy is good, the atmosphere, camera work, the music, everything is so nice, sometimes even better than some high profile J-dramas. But, what’s with this overly stupid, annoying, over the top characterization of the two main lead? It’s just so unbelievable how stupid they are.

But somehow, it kinda get me thinking about the so called NEET problem they have in Japan. Is this series supposed to make people see how awful a NEET is and deter you to be one? It surely get me thinking how I’d hate it so much to be as useless as the male lead or as stupid as the female lead. D*mn, it even made me want to show it to my kids in the future to prevent them from being like that 😅.

Kubota’s acting is as great as usual it got me wonder, did he just picked the wrong script? Or was the movie really supposed to have an important message like I said before? I like all the supporting characters: Dr. Ikeme, the FL colleagues, the izakaya owner.. it’s only.. it’s only.. the stupidity of the two main lead!!

But as annoying as they are, I enjoyed the series and kinda get some lesson out of it. If you could open your mind to throw away all expectation about how gender should play what role in society, there’s a chance you can enjoy this drama.

I watched Hibiki because I missed watching Kitagawa Keiko and saw that the cast are very interesting.

All in all, it’s a very good and enjoyable movie with interesting storyline without a boring minute. The only thing that annoyed me was only the lack of explanation or background about Hibiki’s character. She’s not a normal character at all, but we don’t get any explanation at all. Are we supposed to just accept that she’s a kind of tortured artist with a skewed personality or something? For one, I really was curious about her family. But that aside, you won’t regret watching this movie. The pacing and the plot was good

Now for the actors, this movie was really full of eye candies. Everyone here was beautiful and easy on the eye. The acting was superb. I love the young actors who played Hibiki and Rika, and also it was a nice surprise to see Itagaki Mizuki. I love seeing Kitagawa Keiko in a role where her pretty face isn’t mentioned at all. I don’t think Oguri Shun’s character blend perfectly here, but it’s like a nice little touch.

I didn’t really notice the music, they were more like background music, but they were good enough to build atmosphere needed.

Once again, it’ll be perfect if only they give us backstory of Hibiki’s, and I’m sure it would be an interesting one. But maybe it’s just me :)

This drama is full of cliche, I know.. It so Jdrama-ey and you better leave your brain and logic at the door if you want to enjoy it 😂

Having said that, I enjoyed this drama so much. Not particularly because of the story, but it was because the two main lead, played by the ever so beautiful Kitagawa Keiko and the super adorable but never keen to play more romcom Nagayama Eita. If you’re a fan of bickering couple who are in love with each other so much, you will love them. And not to mention their visuals. Seriously, they should won the most good looking but awkwardly adorable Jdrama couple of the year.

Strange as they are, they’re the two characters who hold this drama together, all of the characters beside them are quite annoying and unlikeable. I often like Jdrama because of the likeable and interesting supporting characters beside the main leads, but that is not the case in this one. BUT, let me tell you that if you’re into Jdrama romcom, than the two main leads alone are good enough reason to watch this one.

I like Eita’s acting so much that I started to watch more of his movies. His character is absurd, but he played it so well it’s hilarious, Kitagawa Keiko also played well and seriously with that kind of face, only seeing it is already such a joy. I hope there are more romantic scene between them, but it’s already cute enough now. I found myself rewatching some of their cute scene again and again 😄

The music.. Pale Blue from Yonezu Kenshi has been playing on repeat in my playlist since maybe ep 3 watching this. It really suit the story, I think this is one of the most memorable OST for Jdrama in 2021 so far.

Totally recommend this!

A Beautiful and Haunting Drama

I ended up watching this drama in one seating. This is a suspense, drama, romance, family, character growth all in one, with beautiful scenery and music.

The story painted beautifully about childhood, trauma, life, hope, and acceptance. I love the backstory and the relationship between the characters: parent-child, friends, lovers (except the Noguchi’s, I really can’t romanticized obsession and abuse - but still so well written and really got the story moving), but the relationship between Naruse and Sugishita’s really give me all the feels. Takano-san said it best, “It’s subtle but strong”. Their scenes are so good and touching it deeply explains why sugishita chose what she choose at the end. Some of the lines were really touching I can’t get it out of my head. Maybe their bonds transcended that of lovers and I think the drama successfully conveyed it, because if they failed to convey it, then the ending would not be so satisfying.

Don’t hesitate to give this one a go, I think you’ll be hooked from the first episode!
