A confident woman in a Japanese drama ...finally!
I was thoroughly surprised by how fast I would go through this drama it was addicting. I admired how this showed a strong woman lead who knew how to not be talked down to at work, in most Japanese dramas I have seen the main lead just tough it out getting yelled or whatever circumstances but not this lead. So kudos to that! and the layers of both characters were shown the vulnerability of how even if one seems strong they still have that innocent side. I never felt like I wanted to skip ahead or that there were too many conflicts it was all in perfect measurement to me. The right amount of all those elements makes a great romance. The chemistry was Phenomenal! If you want something short, sweet and refreshing I recommend this one especially if you have just finished a hefty drama that was an upset let this one pick you up!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good ya know
I liked this drama. The director's eye for the way a woman gazes at a man is so real, SPOT ON, visual filming done right. I knew this version would be different from the original comic which is why I binged the comic before the show ended to see what the differences were and honestly I enjoyed the drama more. I have never been into the slice of life genre anyway. However, the slice-of-life moments that I did enjoy were stress acne and surprise time of the month scenes. I was glad that Yu Nabi never forced Jae won to be better. She hoped for better but she never forced it and knew when to back off even if it was a little later than one should. Seeing Jae won grasp his own realization midway and thinking, "oh I really am messed up" was so satisfying because they finally had his inner narration displayed(something the comic lacked). I got a sense of his thoughts and I really wish there was more of that like half Jae won narration and half Yu Nabi narration. I appreciate the growth that Jae won had out of all the characters. He really had a redeemable moment at that end that I felt only he could pull off, you'll know what I mean when you see it. I loved potato dude he was adorable and a bit too perfect. He really deserved someone who appreciated all those cute things he did like omg how can you say no to that smile. So yeah I've been rewatching it and will continue to do so, don't judge me.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Drama + Animation = YES
Yumi's cell in the land of animation is like Disney's Inside Outs' older sister. In the sense that the content is not exactly for kids, naughty cell I mean you. Though it was so clever how there were just so many cells and they could be so specific like fashion cell and cleaning cell ( my personal favorites) all the way down to stomach and brain working cells. I really enjoyed both views and was not expecting to which really made this drama special in that way. Other clever options I enjoyed were the use of "cards" shown in the cell's land and also in real life as a metaphor. Once again very clever once you get that point in the story. It really made this drama go from a 7 to a 10 for me because of the back and forth between animation and yumi's real life. I enjoyed the whole journey and am currently withdrawing only a few days because the next time a drama with feature this sort of combination will probably not be anytime soon. Hopefully, dramas will go with the flow and start creating more animation/tv shows like this one. And can I please get these cells in plush versions, thanksVond je deze recentie nuttig?
My Winter Comfort Watch
I have developed a keen sense for when a drama really is a breath of fresh air, icy cool fresh air in this case. Within the first few minutes of this show, I automatically knew I was going to love it. The whole show felt like cashmere sweaters, old books, chai lattes, and a fireplace filled with peace. I wondered at first what was it about this drama that made me feel this calmness? I shortly found out that it was because of the sound, the silence. They did a really good job of not oversaturating every scene with some repetitive ballad of romance. It was simple and sweet, the natural ambiance of that town. This is such a rare find in dramas for it to be so fuzzy and the couple together they really have great chemistry. For me personally, this drama is very underrated and it is my favorite. I know I can just sit and not worry about there being some crazy car crash or unbelievable situation. The story is too good for that and it really is well written when it comes to relationships and friendships; if anything I feel the friendship plays a bigger role in the title. I definitely recommend this show for when you feel emotionally exhausted from real life, this one will put you at ease. This drama is engraved in my calendar as my yearly winter comfort watch. Can I also get a pair of the cool aunts' sunglasses?Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Go Sa Ri Go Sa Ri Go Sa Ri
I didn't like nor understand the purpose of this drama because it was loop-hole city. Go Sa Ri has the complexity of Bella Swan where men fall in love with her but no one knows why? In this case, Go Sa Ri has three things in common with Bella swan, no personality, no hobbies, and self-defense tool. I think what really bugged me was that everyone was talking about her even when she wasn't in the scene. Two guys are in a scene they are talking about Go Sa Ri, two girlfriends in the scene they are praying for Go Sa Ri, there is no one in the scene someone's phone says Go Sa Ri. I don't understand why every conversation had to be about her when there is no substance there. This half-baked idea turned into a drama felt as if they said, "Hey we just need to make a filler show". The equivalent to anime filler episodes ya know what I mean? It also made it seem like she would pick someone eventually which was a real letdown on how it unfolds. I wouldn't even bother to imagine what happens next. There was one character at the end that seemed like a throw-away. As always there are endless cliches which I usually can tolerate if they have an interesting spin to them but in this case, originality left the building like... yesterday. I will end on a positive note...I am very happy....it was short.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
If you like fantasy...mainly
I came into this drama with the idea that I would get a chance to see the main guy with his hair long and down, or just a really good romance, I was wrong. I found this to be a drama that was more geared towards the fantasy elements which I like the fantasy in other shows because when done right there can be a good blend of the two worlds. In this case, this show is more about the ma wang character than the actual couple. So if you are in for the romance, I would not recommend this drama. But, if you enjoy just the fantasy aspect then maybe it is up your alley. In my case, it was not for me. I did like the girl white tiger she was my favorite. I also enjoyed the art pieces since I am an artist but towards the end seeing the same piece being painted over and over made this dull to watch as a creative. I wouldn't rewatch this which is a shame since I have been fond of both leads in other shows, oh well on the next.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
fluffy duckling love with a hint of crime?
I'd say this show was half cute and half crime mystery. It did feel very divided. What I liked was that the main couple's chemistry was as cute as duckling stuffed animals. I liked the consistency of it, there wasn't some big dramatic issue with them and they were what made the show light-hearted. I loved seeing them actually laugh together like please more of that! On the other hand and this is why shows where families are a little too involved...bug me. I did get to a point where I just had to fast-forward through scenes with the family whether it was Dali's outrageous overacting cousin or on the other family the too much stepmom. I simply couldn't handle it. If you are like me in that sense with family drama, I would say you are not missing much if you fast pass through the family scenes and enjoy the cute love blossom instead.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
So giving a name tag means Let’s date?
Oof Let’s start with this, I was actually excited for this drama -for real. I don’t craze for horror but I enjoy gore which there is a difference. Seeing how creative one can get with zombie gore is what I was looking forward to. In this case I felt “creativity” went out the window. Zombies were just the same as any other and it was unclear the whole time how to kill them, for some it seemed like an arrow or knife to the neck was enough but other times it didn’t work, no consistency whatsoever. The storyline felt like they wanted to tell a little bit of every characters story but none of there personalities got fully fleshed out. Quite frankly, by the end I didn’t even remember some of their names… that is what little impact they had on me. So many missed opportunities in this show too, for example there are a few characters like the girl who was in the room with the food who I felt could have had a really rich development arc and the bullied girl as well, so much potential! Made me wish I was with the script writers and push them harder because really that was what was lacking-editing the story. The way it ended felt more like this could have just been better off as a movie. It really didn’t need to be that long, I could have lived without the false hope of some of the characters outcomes. Very disorganized show, if you are fond of creativity then just pass this one and re-watch train to busan.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
