Had a promising start but was quickly disappointing

My review will obviously not please the huge fans of this show but this is just my honest take on this show. Its not that great as a romantic comedy drama.

From watching the trailer alone, I was REALLY hyped up for this show. They feature some of my favourite actresses like Mild and Baifern while it is also a plus point that Non is pretty darn good looking. But what seemed promising in the trailer just turned up to be pretty lacking when watching the actual drama.

For me, after watching a few episodes, came to the conclusion that the main focus of this drama is not about romantic relationship but more about friendship and I have to say, the friendship is not that great either. I mean at the end of it, the friendship was pretty touching but the main reason that I wanted to watch this drama was because I had the impression that it will be a romcom more than about the friendship between Ying Ying (Baifern) and Noina (Mild).

Comedy - Just no
The delivery of many comedic points in the drama was very slapstick and usually involves a lot of exclamation and screaming that over time just grates on one's nerve (especially if you have very sensitive nerves). More and more as I watch the drama, I just watch it more for the story progression and ending rather than for the humour. It was a (quite) big no for me in terms of the humour.

Romance - What romance?
The romance portion of the drama at times was also rather...disappointing. I was expecting more heart-throbbing scenes (e.g. where you know the 2 characters are starting to be interested in each other but neither are aware/acting on their feelings yet). But what you get instead is maybe a 20s scene (at best) of perhaps an insight into the interest that Korn may have in Ying Ying for a 40 min episode with the rest of the episode focusing on how Ying Ying plans with Noina or plays mind games with Wisa into breaking up with Korn. And this is not just for 1 or 2 episodes, it is almost for every episode and most of the romance between Ying Ying and Korn is just hastily stuffed into the last 2-3 episodes. So, if you want to watch this drama for the romance, I recommend that you just read the synopsis and watch the last 2-3 episodes. That should suffice. And for the reasons above, is also why I think that there is just no reason I see why Ying Ying and Korn will like each other except maybe for the fact that both are good-looking and pretty decent people. The development of romantic feelings between the 2 was just again - very lacking. It is just not convincing as to why these 2 will like each other other than the fact that it was love at first sight that started during their secondary school days that lasted all the way until adulthood despite years of not seeing each other. This plot maybe very likeable for huge romantics but it is again a no for me. Admittedly, the development of feelings between the 2 could've been a lot better but they missed out the chance in doing so.

Acting - Pretty decent (minus the delivery of comedic points)
Baifern's crying scenes are and WILL always be one of the BEST. You will want to cry with her. Non's acting seemed a bit stiff at time but I think it suited Korn's character as this goody two-shoe doctor.
Ploy, the actress who played Wisa, was surprisingly outstanding in her role. I was half expecting her to play the role in a slightly exaggerated, dramatic manner but the actress herself was able to live out the character with a nice balance of drama and bitch.

Characters - Some are surprisingly likeable and some surprisingly unlikeable
I do not like the character Noina. Selfish, self-centered, whiny, way too much of a day dreamer. From the trailer, I could tell that she was a romantic and day-dreamer but I did not expect the length that she will go to. The only few scenes where she is likeable is when you can actually see the concern and anger she has for Ying Ying when she saw how Ying Ying's ex treated her. There is some character growth and development seen when she decides to give up Korn so that Ying Ying can now happily end with Korn but again, these scenes of growth and development also happens very briefly in the last 1-2 episodes.
Korn's character is expected of a doctor who follows what his parents want, to the point that he is willing to marry a woman that he doesn't even love. In terms of character development, there is little but done slightly better as he slowly realises how fulfilling a romantic relationship can be and learns to do things that he actually wants.
Ying Ying's character is likeable. Brave, selfless and thoughtful. Although I did find it weird that she dated that bum of an ex who just mysteriously disappeared halfway through the show after the breakup.
Wisa's character is surprisingly likeable. Although she can be bratty and annoying at times, the show (surprisingly) does it in an entertaining way and underneath all that glitz and glamour of her, you can tell that she is similar to Korn in some way - marrying a person she doesn't really love all because her family wants her too.

Overall, I think it is ok to speed watch this once and then just move on to other dramas.
