They Tried Too Hard
This drama is, as what Min-Ju kept saying to Yong-Ju, "trying to hard". Calling this drama as a Rom-Com is a bit insult for me. The romance is just mid, if not lacking. This drama mostly tells you about a business story, or maybe a life at work.
I must have high patience because I keep watching it up until episode 10. They developed a lot of conflicts during the first half, and still building another more up until episode 10! Now I am a bit hopeless that they can resolve everything in just 2 episodes. They told that each characters have their on struggles in their past, yet nothing has been revealed clearly to see what their back story is. Why did Yong-Ju parents died? Why did Yong-Ju quit from the Special Force? Why did Min-Ju tried to suicide? Why Yong-Ju gave Min-Ju a camera? What ruined Ah-Reum's childhood life so bad? Even if they answer all these in the last 2 episodes, I feel like it may be too late. They should answer it earlier, so they can embrace these memories altogether with the one they love in the later stage.
Even this drama is directed by the sama person who direct Business Proposal, it is definitely incomparable. There romance is just casually added so it will fit with the genre, while the comedy is mostly came from the villagers, thanks to them. As much as I love Se-Jeong, I don't think they cast the FL and SFL correctly. For me, she has a cheerful persona that doesn't suit the character with such struggles as Chae Yong-Ju. Casting Shin Do-Hyun as Bang Ah-Reum is a bit waste, as she didn't even get a proper character build up.
To me, this drama has issue on the idea at the beginning. Rather than focusing on the romance or comedy itself, they developed too much story around the ML and FL (the office, the work, the village).
PS: I'm currently in Episode 10 and I will update this once I finish. If this have a sad ending, I will be more insulted though.
