A similar theme of a rich family's son falling in love with a poor girl, and how they try to overcome the difficulties.

HITTG is very much better but Queen of tears covers similar territory: class politics (in a silly and terrible way), family structures, patriarchy..Both centred around rich upper class families struggling to maintain power in the face of numerous crises and their own ineptitude. But in HITTG, the revolution is desired and welcomed

- same writer

- same director

- visual style and vibe is similar, it feels like you're peeking into someone's personal life and seeing all of their secrets

- real characters who are dimensional

- romance/family drama, sometimes veering toward makjang but not in a too crazy way that makes it still believable

its all good!! they have the same kind off theme (melodrama parents fighting against their children) making their future life partners go through difficulties... plus the overwhelming couples in the background for extra fun on the side

I think they are similar because they both have to do with dissaproving parents and teenage preganancy, in WCDBS it mostly focuses with what goes on around the family, friends, neighbors, and not just the couple. Also in WCSBS focuses on what happens 12 years later when the couple meets and everyone has a reunion (12 years reunion). In HTG also focuses on the family’s reaction towards the couples pregnancy and how disapproving they are and what sacrafises they have to make, i think u will enjoy either of them if u haven’t watched either of them ENJOY!

-both about wealthy but dysfunctional families
-both melodramatic comedies like Sky castle
-in both the youngest son falls for a "poor" girl, but in Heard it through the Grapevine they had to get married because she was pregnant
-smart and witty female lead

i personally believe 7.6 is too low of a rating for this masterpiece

Both of these dramas are black comedies that skillfully take on the controversial class division that exists in Korean society. These dramas particularly focus on extremely wealthy and educated families with dark secrets that threaten to ruin their perfectly (and somewhat falsely) constructed reputations. There's also some forbidden romance and even a bit of danger. You're in for a treat.

Imagine if ' It's beautiful now ' had a drama completely opposite to it, Yep, that's ' Heard it through the grapevine' .
It features dark humour in the family, is more pronounced and has a better quality production overall !

Although the themes are so different,
Both dramas are very unique.
Feels like every episode tells a little story and contributes to the whole big story.
Black comedy.
Every moment is enjoyable, and they are heart-touching; there are moments where you smile so happily.
They both mainly take place in one big closed space.
Quiet dramas with not too much action going on.
Lovable characters.
There is no obvious villain.

Both deal with the issues of Teen pregnancy while still going to school. Both couples love each other very much, who want to stay together but some other people are against it, they both decide to keep the baby.

The difference is that the couple in 'Jenny & Juno' are equals in society and whereas in 'Heard It Through the Grapevine' are not

Similar in that there's an accidental pregnancy between a young still in school couple and the families are somewhat dysfunctional.

Heard it Through the Grapevine is MUCH better than Goodbye to Goodbye though.
Less makjang and hilarious almost borders on dark comedy.

DIFFERENCES
- FAE is a C-Drama, while HITTG is a K-Drama.
- FAE main couple has a healthier relationship than HITTG's young main couple.
- HITTG focused on parenthood, studies, and personal development, while FAE was more on flash romance where the ML warms up as the drama continues.

I watched My Father is Strange right after Heard it Through the Grapevine and it definitely filled the void. I gave it a chance since I really liked Lee Joon in HITTG and he does not disappoint in FIS. Both shows are surrounded by family, although FIS is upbeat comedy while HITTG is dark comedy, Both are good dramas and I suggest you try them.
