your not-so-typical easy, hilarious romance drama
this drama has all the elements of your typical romance drama -- cutest main leads, hilarious side characters, life lessons along the way, etc. it's an easy watch and is bursting with energy. however, the addition of e-sports adds a fresh and competitive element that keeps you rooting for the main characters even more. i would recommend this drama, but keep in mind that this is a drama 1) filled with "drama logic" (aka has some questionable plot points) 2) exaggeratedly acted/written, almost like a comic, and 3) filled with cliches. that being said, it is still a very cute drama :))))))the good:
- the story is a good mix of romance, friendship, competition, and other life lessons, and interesting enough to keep you watching
- the chemistry between xu kai and cheng xiao is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy good
- the side characters' acting (pretty much all of ZGDX, jian yang, YQCB, etc.)
- the ost: chen zhuoxuan, wayv, seventeen!!!!
the bad:
- i didn't love the main leads' acting. i think that xu kai's acting is mediocre and that cheng xiao doesn't seem to express the feelings tong yao seems to have at the moment, even if tong yao can be cool at times
- some of the plot points make no sense at all/are extremely cringey. for example, the drama attempts to make it so that we should sympathize with jian yang (tong yao's ex), but if you think about the situation, his actions are questionable
- the plot is somewhat predictable and there are a lot of cliches, but also the leads are so cute that it's fine

After tried of drama where male love female first or female chase male lead first ..this drama is kinda fresh air which awakened my old drama love ..what i really like about this story is there acting which kinda made me love them and plot and story wise is nice, no unnecessary drama ... overacting or anything . before we get into the review..just keep in mind i hate most romance dramas. id much rather watch historical bl dramas (historical straight romance dramas are fine too), so i'm already biased against the genre of this drama lol
story:
i really liked the story at first, but when the romance got involved i just stopped being as interested and more like grossed out. the tournaments are pretty interesting i gotta say though, although i have heard from other people that play 王者荣耀 say that it's really unrealistic, but i don't play it so idk.
acting/cast:
i don't really like the character that cheng xiao played in this drama. they made her so ugly lmao. xu kai looks fine as always but i know this was his first drama of this style, because he used to only act in historical chinese dramas. i actually prefer him in reality c dramas and not historical ones. cheng xiao is an idol, i don't really know about her being an actor, but if she's passionate about it then go her

It’s the best and you won’t regret watching it but regret not finding it earlier.
This is one of the best dramas I’ve ever watched. Everything is on point and their acting is so good it feels like I’m watching their actual lives. All the guys and girls look so good I swear you would fall love with everyone. They are really so funny and talented. One thing I like is that the male lead is not overbearing and not too mean. He has just the right amount of everything. Face, height, intelligence, coolness, strictness and don’t even get me started on the female lead. She is so pretty and fearless. She doesn’t care what people think, she is not so shy and not so bossy. She is so cute that I never want this drama to end. Also I really want to know the game they are playing because it’s so cool and looks so fun I want to play it myself. I would definitely rewatch it. I can say this is the best e-gaming Drama I’ve ever watched. It’s so good that I watched more than 20 episodes in a day. Great drama.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Cheng Xiao's improvement
The story about e-sports has been the hot topic for the past 2 years, this drama is another addition to the running genre. Although the plot is quite predictable I haven't skipped any scene until now (10th episode), mainly because of the charms of the cast. For the most part it seems like they are sticking to the novel, still I wish they would include more scenes of Tong Yao bickering and teasing Si Cheng.Unlike many here I find Cheng Xiao to be the pleasant surprise of the drama. Maybe it's cause she finally doesn't have to play "cold" character and keep straight face all the time and maybe it's because she approved a lot since her past 2 dramas, or maybe it's both. Her acting still has some awkward moments plus the narration is not helping any character in this drama what so ever, but still her improvement, comedic timing and chemistry really carries the show. Safe to say casting Cheng Xiao as Tong Yao was a really wise decision. Xu Kai's acting is much better as well probably because of the modern setting as well. He mashes with Cheng Xiao really well on screen and what it seems like behind screen as well, and it actually might be his best pairing as well (we will see, but from what it seems it's going the right path). Yao Chi is hilarious in the drama as well, his comedic timing is just fantastic, I'm looking forward to his next projects.
OST line up is really strong as well. I really enjoy the soundtracks.
Two major cons of the drama:
The main game of the drama. Graphic design of that "game" is just tragic, but still I guess getting LoL on the drama would be really tough because of the plagarism. And the last con is the narration. It's just badly done, most of the time it doesn't even match what Cheng Xiao is saying, for a drama which was getting prepared for almost 2 years it's just BAD. Like I said it genuinely makes a lot of scenes awkward even if the actor is doing well in a scene narration is just ruining the scene and the comedic build up.

Great support characters, good ML, a really bad actress FL
You see, I am on episode 21 and I think...I won't be able to finish this drama. It's just not so well written, and the FL is unfortunately played by a bad actress that keeps one facial expression for most of the time.However, the world of e-sports is pretty fascinating and portrayed well in this drama (though they did get some hate in China on misleading about e-sports and etc.), all the support characters are really awesome (my fav are Xiao Peng and Xiao Rui) and the ML is played well by a handsome actor that can go from icy cold to really tender in a blink of an eye. There are also heftier topics discussed, like the position of women in e-sports and in games in general, cyberbullying, being in the spotlight, relationships of public personas, rivality between teams...but even this can't help the fact that the FL is not well cast. Do give it a go though, if you don't mind watching a poker face FL - there is a lot of handsome guys to ogle instead :P

E Gamers Behaving Like Teenagers
If you fancy watching a bunch of teenagers playing E Games, then please go ahead and watch this drama. If that isn't your cup of tea, then leave it.The FL actress is also why I couldn't finish The World of Fantasy.
Everytime I see this actress in a drama, she is acting like a sulky, brooding teenager. She isn't wooden, although she is emotionless, in that she is in a constant state of arrogant irreverence instead. In this drama, she is her usual uninterested sulky teenager self, and, as always, the ML falls for her despite her not having one redeeming quality.
By the way, that Ragdoll cat of hers is a bred cat. Any person or character that owns such a cat, is someone who is deeply superficial and vacuous. Someone who shops for a cat because they "need" a cat to have blue eyes and white hair in order to love him/her. There is a cat population crisis in China, and tv casting chooses a bred cat, which shouldn't even exist in the first place, over an equally if not more beautiful domestic short hair, or domestic long hair rescue cat??! Shameful.
I skipped a bunch of episodes after about the second episode, as I couldn't stand the sulky FL anymore. I am dropping this drama like a hot potato. If Xu Kai's character wants a sulky, irreverent teenager with bangs over her eyes as his girlfriend, well, good luck to him.

Best airing Drama right now
I was a bit surprised when I read that Chinese audiences disliked the show when it premiered because honestly this is a fantastic lighthearted show about a falling in love while doing what she loves. I'm so over Dramas that are melodramatic and this was perfect for people like me that just wants some happiness. Now let me further elaborate the great things this show does.-----Acting-----
Every single actor in this show is fantastic. Especially the leads. I never feel as if they're phoning it in or they're their real life selves rather than the characters they are playing. The characters feeling genuine might have helped as well.
-----Characters----
For the most part, every character (even if not shown with the most screen time) has their own quirks or personality traits. And lesser characters still shine due to the great actors portraying them. The main leads in particular are fascinating to watch because they both have very individualistic or proud personalities but different ways of showing them which plays well with their dynamic when interacting with one another. Speaking of which, their chemistry is breathtaking and at the level I've only seen in the 'Intense Love' series.
----Story----
The story isn't revolutionary but it's the execution in which it plays out that makes it a very addicting watch. It's similar to a fish out of water scenario mixed with a rise to power story in a sense( Mixed in with romance throughout). Again, this wouldn't be as good as it is without the well defined characters interacting with each other believably to their own personalities. The story also doesn't make characters do ridiculous things for the sake of drama. They only do what their characters would naturally do, which makes them feel like real people that live in china rather than from a TV show. That's very difficult for dramas to do properly and makes the show ever more admirable.
------Conclusion------
This show is utterly fantastic so far and I hope many more people watch this show. It's not just the aspects above that are fantastic but the cinematography, animation and editing that feel very professional and done with care. Watch this show. You won't regret it.

i love this drama and all but it takes to long to upload a episode. FOR EXAMPLE it said that ep 17-22 will be uploaded on july 1 but its july 2 now and i cant sleep anymore i need the episodes to come out fasttttttt. Everyone please go watch this drama! It’s literally sooo goood. I’ve never been so excited for a drama. Ever since i saw the trailer a couple months ago i’ve been so excited to watch it. I love every episode that’s out so far. I’m so excited to see them become a couple and see cheng smile more now !! I literally cant stop listening to their song that the sang together. E-Sport Romance
I have read the novel of this drama and know what to expect. So far, this drama successfully portrayed the novel for me. It may be more tamed and had some changes but it added more real life moments like parents visiting the workplace.This is a perfect show to start knowing professional gaming dramas where characters really play and duel for national competitions. This is a mixed of esports and romance. The female lead in the novel was supposed to be 19 years old, that's why please bear in mind that sometimes she act immature. Nonetheless, she's a good female player. I like that she's really good and deserves her spot in the team.
In terms of casting, I feel like they perfectly selected them, Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao as the lead. Cheng Xiao might not be as good as Xu Kai in terms of acting, but her overall demeanor just screams "Tong Yao" for me.
The music is well matched so far. I know they have lots of songs for this drama with different Cpop artists like Angela, Chen Zhouxuan, WayV, Chinese members of Seventeen, etc..
I am a sucker for Romance. This drama may not be good for others, but for me, it's more than enough. I like the combination of Esports and Romance.

I didn't intend to watch this show because the sinopsis was not very appealing to me, but after seeing so many positive reviews I decided to give this show a chance, but wow the regret I have now.From the start this show was very tedious, it was a chore just to get to episode 8. The plot is the most boring I've seen in a while and a lot of the things that happen feel overdramatic and blown out of proportion, what makes it hard to take the story seriously since everything that happens is so childish.
As someone who plays games (inclusing MOBAs like the one featured here) I can tell that the gaming and e-sports plot was just very weak. Besides, a lot of the times they showed the characters playing they were just awful. How am I supposed to believe these people are pros when they play like someone who has no basic notion of the game? Nevertheless, I still tried to give this drama a chance since everyone talked abut how great the romance and the leading couple are, but I was, once again, disappointed.
The leads had no chemistry together, and while I enjoy a couple with a teasing/bickering dynamic, they didn't do a good job in convincing me they could be in love. They don't actually bond over anything, they just argue a lot and suddenly they're falling for each other.
The acting here is also very subpar, only part of the supporting cast has a decent portrayal. While I feel that the ML at least tries, though, the actress of the FL was a disaster. It was almost painful to watch her acting, she had the emotional range of a lettuce, which in turn made it seem like her character had no personality at all. The only character trait I could notice from her is that she's immature and that's it.
There were one or two funny lines here and there and I kinda liked when they animated the games because one: at least there they didn't show the stupid plays they made and two: MOBA games can be a bit confusing to watch, specially for someone who never played one before, so the animation simplifies it to the general public. Also, even though I didn't care much about the leads, I gotta say the show shines the brightest when there's a scene between them, even if it's because every other aspect about the drama is seriously lacking.
Overall, I definitely wouldn't recommend this neither to rom-com fans, nor to any e-sports or MOBA fan/player.
