It's QUITE different... but it is GREAT!
I've watched the Chinese version a couple of times already and I guess we'll all agree that it was a great show. It is one of my 'Go-to series' when I'm bored. At first I thought this version was too speedy, and I didn't like that idea. Well... you'll notice that the main characters already have a crush on each one (ahehehehe sorry). BUT... if you'll watch the available episodes (in my case there are only 4 so far) you'll really appreciate how different it is from the original version. This version is lighter, the setting is brighter (ofc it's new), and the characters are very bubbly and cute. It has scenes that are similar and scenes that make it unique. If you like light dramas, this one is for you ^-^. Can't wait to finish the whole show!!!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

I didn't like the final couple
I think it would be better if sol-i stayed with daesung... heon is a bitter guy who mistreated her a lot and only gave her a chance to compete with daesung. however, it's really cool to watch and the characters are cute. hayoung and jinhwan is the best couple. I really liked the final scenes which show the characters out of action. the actors are really wonderful and seem to enjoy what they are doing. Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Cute and Wholesome!!
This was my first K-drama and it did not disappoint! It had a very fun and upbeat tone and it’s super easy to watch. The characters are likable and the story is easy to follow. The OST for this show is also very cute and fitting. This show is great for watching when you just want to watch something cute, wholesome, and easygoing!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

A must watch and a re-watch. A light hearted room com
It was a really nice ligh hearted drama you will just be smiling with the characters. The acting was really nice but I guess the story got messed up in the middle like the sudden break up and all. I mean they showed the reason but I still did not understand why would you break up like that. There getting together was abrupt too like just to end as the episodes were spreading. The ending was good and warm hearted but it was not satisfactory enough like I wanted to see some more cute moments.
But I guess I will watch this drama again and again.
One thing I must say was that the OST is really nice I will be listening to every song in this drama. It is a remake of a really popular C-drama and I haven't watched that one so I don't know how good the remake is.
It is a light-hearted romcom that would just make you smile as you flow with the story. The starting was nice but I guess it would've been better if they stayed together instead of breaking up cause I believe that messed up the story.
Final review, must watch and re-watch

a failed remake imo
i dont watch korean series drama , i prefer cdrama only for now n the main reason i start watch drama series ( i used to hate series drama that i think only for girl ) is because ALSB ! so i finally watch my first kdrama series just because its a remake of ALSB ,, n its turn out to be a big dissapoinment for mefirst -they remove some scene from the orginal cdrama which i think its normal ,the remake more interesting if they add new scene , but the point are they remove some really important scenes , like the scene in eps 23 where the 3 of the ML n his two friends are drunk n there the ML finally can speak all his heart out ,in cdrama original series that scene really touching me much ,i am so deeply feel the pain of the ML for missing her for 3 years , and some other scenes too are gone from this remake
second -i think they miscast the FL n ML , the FL (sorry) is really far from cute n her act so average make me not enjoying at all , the ML is not cold like he need to be, he smile a lot n its become annoying , he doesnt look like a smart student at all n more look like an i di ot imo , he good looking but he failed to become the ML that need to be a cold n hard to get close by in school n life , in short they act are really bad ,wahat annoy me most is the FL is not suitable for the role
what i like are jo jye joo ,,,shes so damn pretty ,i like watch her more than FL and also the songs are really good
When the first time i watch ALSB , the FL make fall in love with her role , make me envy the ML n yes i bcome a real fan of Shen Yue , i always watch all her cdrama series , she is the one who make me fall in love with cdramas , in this drama i dont feel that at all because of the terrible act, deleting some important scene or cut one, the cuteness couple in ALSB is definitely gone in this remake

It's not like the Chinese one but it's kinda worth it
When I first watched this show, I didn’t really know how I felt about it. I remember just watching a couple of episodes and then leaving it but honestly, I like it. It’s cute and short, I liked watching it. Also if you know this is the remake of the Chinese version, I was expecting something like it, but really this felt like a different vibe. I like how they didn’t exactly copy the Chinese one, if you watched the Chinese one, you’ll see that some of the scenes weren’t there. Also, there were newer scenes, it felt good. I wouldn’t say I will watch it again, but like if you’re bored this is a really cute story to get onto. I had a huge ass crush on Heon oh my god that boy is pretty. Also, the scenes after the to be continued part AHHHH, they were so cute. I don’t have much to say about it, the scenes were pretty cute. I love the chemistry between the two main. Also while watching the show a question came into my mind, if you had to choose would you choose a boy like Heon or a boy like Daesung, it’s probably depending on the person but I feel like Heon is completely my type. This show also made me realize how much of high school I’m actually missing out on because of covid. To put it all together, should you watch this show, yea 100% if you’re bored and don’t have anything. But watch it after watching the Chinese version.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
C or K version?
Actually both are mediocre compared to a "Accidentally in Love" or "Extra-ordinary you" . That being said both had enjoyable moments just far and in between.Comparison:
1. K drama had better looking ML and 2nd Lead
2. ML in K drama is more likeable start to finish. C-drama had boy with abandonment issues hard to like
3. FL, both ultra cute but K version had way too many over exaggerated faces
4. 2nd Lead. C drama had a way too old looking one for HS actor but personality/lines wise he had funnier ones. K drama 2nd lead just felt like the standard sweet cute guy forever in the friend zone
5. Teachers in K drama were more likeable
6. FL leads parents were more likeable in K drama version
7. Song dances in K drama were cute
I mean it's just ok both versions. Something play on the side.

Light weight adaptation of the original
Consider the popularity of the c-drama original, it would be difficult to not draw some form of comparison. The simple, short answer so that we can get the elephant back to the zoo is that this was a problematic adaptation with a number of issues that made this version less than the sum total.First of all, the k-drama version was 24 episodes long while the Chinese original has the same episode count but the runtime is twice as long. So the writer-nim had to trim the storyline and subplots to make it fit. They did a ok job most of the time and I definitely recognise some of the key scenes from the original and the show flowed in the right direction. However, there are definitely editing issues. For instance, in ep. 14, the ML of the 2OTP confessed very publicly to his crush but by ep. 15 the show seemed to have forgotten it ever happened. Later on, the OTP met up again after 3 years of separation and he begged her for forgiveness. She hesitated and told him that she needed more time. The scene faded to black and the next scene opened with the ML finding her asleep in his bunkbed in the hospital. They had a good long cuddle in bed afterwards which is quite a leap from "I needed more time".
This level of pruning meant that the show was reduced to a standard school/college romance but the story still spanned 13 years. Unfortunately, some of the nuisances, depth and character growth from the original got left on the cutting room floor.
This long timespan also exposed the biggest problem for this drama. The FL was trying her best to be convincing as a teenage girl in the early part of the show and she made it work a lot of the time but occasionally she would look too mature or tried too hard to act young. She had a much easier time later on when they had aged. A bigger problem was the ML. He is an idol and this was his first acting assignment. He definitely has the looks and can sing and dance but his acting abilities were not up to the more challenging scenes. It was just as well that the role of the ML was basically cold and emotionless but he took that to the next level. Even when he was suppose to be angry or frustrated his expression rarely changed. This presented the opposite problem to the FL, when he was supposed to be in his late twenties (and older), a doctor with years of overseas training, his lack of maturity/gravitas and limited range just didn't sit comfortably with his portrayal.
This lack of emotional range also impacted on the chemistry of the OTP. Not saying that they don't look good together but there was little passion. What skinship there was, was not convincing. Stuff happened but there was nothing to see.
The 2OTP was decent but mostly on rails. While they progressed as expected, there were moments when the show seemed to lost track of their progress and they just bunny hop around their relationship status.
One area that this show did do better was when the OTP met again after their separation. The original seemed abrupt and a bit contrived but this version kept it simpler and felt more organic.
The OST was good and bubbly to match the general rom-com setting.
If you have not seen the original then this is a fluffy, easy to watch school/college romance. If you love the c-drama original then it would be hard for you to give this a high mark.

Nice, quick watch for destressing
To be honest, I don't really remember the Chinese version of this drama very well because I watched it over a year ago. I have to say, though, this version of the drama left me with a much better impression than the Chinese Drama. The story was quick but not rushed, and I have to say that I liked the way the main leads were written in this drama a lot better. I'm still always going to be team Wu Bosong/Woo Dae Sung because I still think Cha Heon/Jiang Chen is a piece of crap human being for putting the FL through so much heartache. Both dramas had a really catchy theme song, and I could definitely feel the magic that the Chinese Drama had in the Korean version as well. I wasn't the biggest fan of either of these dramas, but I needed something to watch on Netflix during a time that I couldn't really invest in a more serious drama, and this did the trick. My overall attitude toward Cha Heon was a lot better than for his Chinese counterpart (don't know why - I just hated the ML in the C version), however I think they should have picked a different actor for the role. Kim Yo Han's acting skills majorly lacked compared to his co-stars, and I found his expressions and lines to be largely stiff and unconvincing. While there's also been criticism for the FL, I have a soft spot for So Ju Yeon, so I kind of don't mind haha. This drama is nothing revolutionary, but the overall product was a lot better than its Chinese version, in my own humble opinion. I’d recommend if you have time to kill or are into this sort of thing :)Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
